Vampire Mage help

Post by Xraptorx »

I am rather new to skyrim and play on PS3. I want to play a vampire Mage and heard about all these exploits to let me walk in light, regen health and mana as well.

First, do these work still on ps3 with the various patches or has it been fixed? What are the downsides of playing vampire Mage now a days if patched?

Secondly, where can I find a guide to show me what perks, what and when to take vampire and what stones to take? Sorry again I'm rather new and played so far both a archer assassin and pure Mage to lv 14 so far. Now I can say I like the Mage with the assassin sneak abilities and figure that is best combined via vampires

Thanks for the help and guidance.

To first no there are no patches that mess with exploits for vampirism on consoles at least.
To secondly why don't I just make you a guide in this thread.

Thank you Wrath425

I would appreciate a guide. I have seen a few Vamp Mage videos on you tube. One killed mostly in lord and used blood magic, another was in human form and was slowing time every few seconds, had armor and was using ice storms, a final was in human form and going sneak, charm and then daggers /bows to kill.

Seems really versatile. I would like to try it out and need to know what are critical decisions to make and things to do in beginning game

Most fun Vampire Mage I ever played: The Fearmonger. Don't pay too much attention to the vid at the end. I thought that was a really bad presentation of the build.

By the way, being able to regenerate health/stamina/magicka as a vampire during daylight is no exploit. You just need some enchantments/perks that increase your regeneration.

You will want to get your Restoration up to 70. If you want to grind as opposed to doing it naturally, there is a place you can grind it in High Hrothgar, it is in the courtyard at the back of the building. Where the cold wind blows blocking off the path to higher up the mountain. Once it is at 70, get the "Necromage" perk. It makes magic more effective against the undead and as a vampire that means you. Then go for whatever kind of magic you like. I recommend Conjuration, Restoration and Destruction, it is the magic I like the most. The others are worth looking at too, they have some spells that help with sneaking. Although if you want to use Archery you might not want Destruction. I would usually advise using one or the other, not both. Same with One/Two Handed and Light/Heavy Armour. In the case of a Mage/Thief I would advise One Handed and Light.

I'm not sure how to go with Magic/Health/Stamina for a Mage/Thief. Somebody who has played that kind of character would know better. But I've found a ratio of 2:2:1 to be pretty good on some of my characters.

In TES, outside of Arena where you can't make a class, I always make characters who use at least some skills from Warrior, Mage and Thief. I think you would have to go out of your way not to.
So we have come to solve every squabble in the village personally?

It will take ages to get to 70 with healing spells. Better way: Go into a nordic ruin, find a Draugr and keep casting Turn Undead on him. Turn Undead increases your Restoration skill a lot faster, and a turned Draugr will never attack you while he's under the effect of the spell.

Thanks guys

Thinking I will go more a full Mage and skip sneak except for 1 point. That point in sneak and vampire and clothing should give decent sneak. I want to use calm, frenzy and pacify from illusion and conj for my tank. My damage will be with destro compared to bound bow

I am struggling to see how vamp lord would be used compared to normal form most of the time

I guess later is needed for armor, but if I stay normal form I can use light armor as well. Enchanting seems nice to get the fortify on 3 schools of magic. And I would seek the talos stuff to basically stop time and just cast some dot spells

Question about destruction magic, what is beat? Lighting, cold or fire? I saw great necrowarp video with time stop and ice storm, but read that a lot of stuff is frost resistant. So what do you recommend? In essence, I am now leaning more to a pure vampire lord Mage :)

For physical defense necromage and mage armor perks will get you close to the armor cap, ward spells will let you hit the cap exactly,
For magical defense being a breton with vampirism, necromage, the magic resistance perks as well as the lord stone will give near magic immunity.
For offense shock spells are good since only three enemies in the game have shock resistance, conjuration is also good for attack as the summon is independent so you can focus on the biggest threat at the time.
