in a panic, I killed Marcurio, my good buddy
in a panic, I killed Marcurio, my good buddy
In a panic with all the magic being thrown around, fighting Orchendor in Bthardamz, with my health almost zip, I accidentally nailed my faithful helper, Marcurio. Now the question is - should I "cheat", go back and start the game just before this - or force myself to continue as if it were RL? I had a lump in my throat as I viewed his lifeless body, a pincushion for ice shards. I just couldn't get myself to take back equipment I'd given him. Yeah, I got tired of his smart mouth but nobody's perfect.
I think I'll carry on and find another follower as Marcurio was making it too easy for me to get dragons. He'd do most of the ranged attack and I'd hang around to charge in and finish off the dragon with my warhammer. I will miss Marcurio zapping skeevers and wolves before they could even get close to me.
Since his body will remain in Bthardamz, is there any spell I can use to revive him in the future?

Why don't you just use the console, if you're that desperate to have him back ? doesn't that work?

Open console, click on Marcurio, type resurrect into the console, press enter.

Dead Thrall is a good enough permanent solution if you just want him as a follower... If you want to speak with him reload or use console commands.clif9711 wrote:In a panic with all the magic being thrown around, fighting Orchendor in Bthardamz, with my health almost zip, I accidentally nailed my faithful helper, Marcurio. You can use the Ritual Stone to bring him back as a Thrall, or use the Raise Thrall spell. The spell will cause him to turn to ash when he dies, though.
Or as Phil said, you can use a Console "spell" to raise him.

Actually neither of those spells turn him to ash.

Dead thrall however, does require level 90 conjuration and the ability to defeat a dremora 3 times, and then a lot of gold to buy the tome.
But it does make him reuseable.

thanks everybody for all the info - so there is more than one way to bring back the dead.
but for my own benefit, I should try to survive without him.

Re: in a panic, I killed Marcurio, my good buddy
At the loss of a treasured follower, I tend to take their most commonly used equipment and place it on a mannequin dedicated to them. If they're that important to my character, they deserve a proper tribute. I always place a few flowers at the foot of it. If you're leaning towards a roleplaying character, perhaps you ought to avoid any similar followers in the future to commemorate the loss?
As for bringing him back, as a console player I am unsure of how to use the PC's Console, but the dead thrall spell will allow you to raise him an infinite amount of times for a seemingly unlimited duration, in which state he will continue to play as he used to, just you will no longer be able to talk to him as a follower. (On the upside, this also means you can have ANOTHER follower as well)

It's not like my poaching is hurting anyone, the other hunters can hardly track every deer, can they?

If you r worried your follower will die in combat or any other means. U can set him as essential npc and he will never die. Look up console for that I think its setessential <base id> 1
