Best intro music?
So I been playing skyrim the since it came out almost every day and I have turtle beaches with the sound filtered thru the head set and the opening music always gets me pumped to play the game, this morning I plugged in oblivion for some old school fun and realized the intro music is way better, I almost forgot about this.. I guess it's not jes the intro music but oblivions sound track is so cool to me.. I wondered if there was a game that you guys played with the sound track turned up on.. I mute a lot of music in most games but oblivion and skyrim are always the exception... Oblivions opening music is the best I've heard.. What say you?
Ps this isn't a skyrim v oblivion thread I was wondering about all games v all games, opening music and total sound track...

I always considered the opening from the Medal of Honor series the best in my opinion. There are also the openings of Halo, Gear of War, and the Star Wars games which were amazing. Nostalgia is the word that comes to mind every time I put in Oblivion and hear the opening. The soundtracks of both Oblivion and Skyrim fit their themes so well that which ever one I'm playing sounds better.

I was always partial to a lot of the Final Fantasy tracks and usually anything used in a MGS game.
"I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies in summers that have been;
Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair."

Opening music of Morrowind was amazing. I really liked Red Dead Redemption's soundtrack, talk about immersive. I really liked Mass Effect (The whole trilogy) soundtrack. It play so many beautiful songs at the exact right moment in the story, it is amazing. Overall, I would say Mass Effect, close second being any of the past three Elder Scrolls.

There are a lot of great intro/title music for the SNES. A few examples:
Mega Man X
Final Fantasy VI
Super Castlevania IV
Chrono Trigger

Re: Best intro music?
The Elder Scrolls games, definitely. I especially have a soft spot for Skyrim's. I knew next to nothing about the game when I got it, just heard that it was good, wanted a high-end game to enjoy on my new laptop, and it was half off. I remember that first night, after it finally downloaded, hearing that opening bit as the title faded onto the screen, and I remember thinking of how it just sounded like a huge adventure. I knew at that moment, just because of the music, that I was in for something special. I had no idea just what I was getting into.

How about Borderlands' intro using Cage the Elephant's "No Rest for the Wicked"?
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Yeah that's a good one, too! I love the songs used in the Fallout games also. Classic 40's and 50's, you can't go wrong with that.Dark Spark wrote:How about Borderlands' intro using Cage the Elephant's "No Rest for the Wicked"?
