Do you play Human,Mer or Beast race in Skyrim? Why?
Since all of us are humans in real life I feel compelled to play a human race in Skyrim cuz I can relate to it. However lately I have been playing Mer race and I certainly don't feel as welcomed in Skyrim but more welcomed in Solstheim. I haven't tried beast race yet but planing to.

Re: Do you play Human,Mer or Beast race in Skyrim? Why?
I usually play human, either Redguard or Imperial. maybe 90% of my characters
i like the Altmer, but i don't really like the other two elven races, and i hate the Dunmer. so i'm willing to play as them, but i wont do it often.
i like both of the beast races but i usually don't enjoy playing as them. however i have had a Khajiit character once.
oh and by the way, i have been talking about my races in each TES game, not Skyrim alone. in Skyrim i played as a Redguard.

Are you counting Orc under mer or beast? while they are technically mer they seem to have been distanced enough to qualify as their own group.

Re: Do you play Human,Mer or Beast race in Skyrim? Why?
I prefer playing either Mer or Beast. I rarely play as a human, and most human characters I create tend not to last more than a few hours. Assuming they make it past character creation.
For the Mer, I prefer playing Dunmer. They're probably my favorite race.
For the Beasts, I prefer playing Argonian. They're my second favorite race.
Out of my three main Skyrim characters, two are Argonians and one is Dunmer. But the Dunmer is the most important of them all.
In other games, I do mostly the same thing. I'm more likely to be Dunmer in both Morrowind and Oblivion.
Though I will play as a Breton from time to time. I don't play Beast races as frequently, though.

The only race I've never played in any TES game is Altmer. Every other race I've tried at least once, but most of my characters were Dunmer. My first TES game was Morrowind and it had such a rich cultural background that I never have any problems with creating interesting backstories for my characters, so it's easy to really care about them.

I most often play as Dunmer, second probly Imperials... and I don't really have a third. Possibly Bosmer....
I like Dark Elves, cos I'm a MASSIVE D&D/Baldurs Gate fan, and Drow are BADASS!!
Anytime, in any game, that there are Dark Elves, they are my favourite.

Re: Do you play Human,Mer or Beast race in Skyrim? Why?
I voted elven based mostly on how much time I've spent with my main, who's an Altmer. Adding up all my characters, elves still come out ahead, but less clearly. (I've got four elves, versus three men and one beast.)
Though now I think about it, my elves seem to not fare too well in the long run. Of the four, three have gone unplayed for weeks, while all my other characters have been loaded up in the last few days.

Re: Do you play Human,Mer or Beast race in Skyrim? Why?
I can't maintain an altmer or bosmer, I tried, I really did but I felt like something out of a generic fantasy RPG so when I want to go elven I always use dunmer. I did have two orcs and most of the time I play nord or imperial when I play human. I really did try altmer but I can't stand them, they look so..... Green, and irritating.

I usually play as a Nord or a Dunmer, Imperial sometimes being thrown in there. I like the Dunmer an Nords because I believe they have the best lore.

Re: Do you play Human,Mer or Beast race in Skyrim? Why?
My characters are split 50/50 between Mer (dunmer) and human (Nord, Breton), but I've put more hours into my two Dunmer.
The beast races don't really appeal to me. I haven't tried altmer or bosmer yet, but I've been considering starting a new Altmer.

I've played the human races the most, and probably Bretons and Nords the most of those. The humans feel the most grounded to me, and I like that juxtaposition in a fantasy world, especially for roleplaying.

I agree. Even though I roleplay an Altmer and a Bosmer (love me some elfs), I seem to relate more to my Imperial.Zephyr wrote:The humans feel the most grounded to me

Typically Nord because I like Vikings.

I tend to play Bretons (I have French ancestors (nobility) and I can somewhat relate myself to the somewhat feudal-Frenchlike Bretons). I also play as a wood elf quite frequently. Never really felt like creating a beast race character though.

Re: Do you play Human,Mer or Beast race in Skyrim? Why?
I usually almost always play as Imperial, as they fit my characters the best - as in characters from my creative fiction and so on. THe characters I've roleplayed tend to be from powerful, cosmopolitan empires... so Imperial it is. Also, as an Asian person, I feel like it's easiest to get someone who sort of is Asian as an Imperial.
I do want to do a few Beast race playthroughs in various TES games now and then, though, as I'm cool with them, particularly Khajiit. I'm doing a side playthrough in Oblivion with an Argonian right now on my laptop (when I'm away and onl have my laptop).
As for elves... sorry, I'm an elf hater. Too many elves in fantasy. Elves in TES are cool and nice and not too cliche, but I wouldn't care about roleplaying one.

Re: Do you play Human,Mer or Beast race in Skyrim? Why?
I've done a bit of all. My very first Skyrim character was a Khajiit, as I generally love cats and she was meant to be a descendant of my Oblivion character. I later made an Argonian, and she has become my favorite character. I've remade her several times, and will do so again when I can afford to get the Legendary edition for myself. I've also been a Nord, a High Elf, and currently an Orc. I prefer the non-human races, just because I have no choice but to play a human in most games I play, so it's nice to be able to be something different in games like Skyrim.

I've liked argonians ever since my first time playing Oblivion. The only reason I chose an argonian is because I thought being a lizard man was awesome, but as I learned more about the lore behind each race they became more and more interesting to me.

I play all three, predominantly beast though. I just like how unique the beast are compared to other fantasy games.

I usually pick a Redguard, Breton, or any elf except a Bosmer. I started a new character yesterday and made her an Imperial, so, doing a little bit of growth over here.
I like the idea of the beast races but none of their special abilities are enough to sway me from my normal selection.

Orc, Breton and Wood Elves are a must in all my Elder Scroll games. It's not a matter of relating to them but more of the superficial reasons.

Re: Do you play Human,Mer or Beast race in Skyrim? Why?
I tend to stick to Imperial followed by Nord as a close second. I don't play magic classes at all so that leaves out a lot of the other races seeing as how their racial abilities are geared toward magic. I can't get into the beast races, they just don't fit my idea of who the Dovakin would be.
I found a mod a few weeks ago called the Temptress Race over on the Nexus. This will probably be my favorite for female characters. They are decedents of Nords that have been blessed by Dibella. They have two racial magic spells. Seductive Mayhem: Using their unmatched charm, Temptresses' Seductive Mayhem causes everyone around to fight one another, (no level cap). Seductive Harmony: Using their unmatched beauty, Temptresses' Seductive Harmony causes everyone to remain calm, (no level cap). Plus a passive, Divine Blood: Blessed with the divine, Temptresses are born with immunity to disease.

Hmm I voted human anyway, In Skyrim its pretty close between Orc and Nord for me with Nord maybe coming out in front...just. Over the whole series Its probably Orc though, again only just.Street_Assassin wrote:I count them as Mer,since their race is called Orsimer. But i see what u mean
