So far the only NPCs I seem to be able to get information/quests from *inside of buildings* are the Bartenders. I can also get information from the resident Minstrel/Priest/Wizard/Blacksmith if they exist as well.
Any other interaction with NPCs in Inns results in a long list of 'I don't want to talk to you' phrases and no identity given.
Is it possible to get meaningful information from the NPCs standing near tables in the Inns? Or is patiently clicking a waste of time?

Re: NPCs inside buildings
They will keep being jerks forever. People outside on the streets will be happy to answer your questions.

I got to thinking... maybe I'm the Prince of Destruction, and I just don't know it yet.

Re: NPCs inside buildings
I heard rumor that Personality effects what they say... I feel like that's not true though.

Re: NPCs inside buildings
Thanks for the replies. Yes, I'm aware that the NPCs outside can be helpful, but they are a fearful lot and hide at night. I know the minstrels and Monks one finds in some Inn layouts provide the info, but it was to the general patrons at the tables my query was directed.
I will experiment a bit with the Personality skill and see if it makes any difference. An interesting theory, not a skill I would prioritize early in the game off-hand.
