Strange-Looking Meshes

Post by Demiverse »

This may be shot in the dark here, but I've been having some weird issues with a couple bizarre looking pieces of furniture.

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like.

This fiery glow effect is not static - that is, it moves around across the base texture if I walk around or look at it from different angles. This makes me wonder if it's some kind of reflection mapping that isn't compatible with my machine, or that requires MGE to function properly.

I'm using MGSO (without MGE), and I'm sure this is the result of one of its mods/replacers. The problem is, there are so many replacers included in MGSO 3.0, and after browsing the Credits/Modlist I have no idea which one(s) might have altered these models.

This same "fiery shell" look is also covering almost all beds, and chests as well. However, when I open or unlock a chest or cabinet, the fiery mesh goes away, and I can see the actual texture just fine.

It's possible this might have something to do with container activation, as all the models with this problem are containers...except the bookshelf model. Which I obviously can't activate to see if it would make the weird mesh go away.

I also have a slightly simpler problem, though I'm not sure if it's the result of the same replacer or not. One fairly common mesh cannot be loaded when I enter a cell. The Warnings file says this:
Warnings.txt wrote:Model Load Error: is not a NIF file in Meshes\f\Furn_De_Table_03.NIF.
This means that a lot of tables are just showing up as that hideous yellow object marker. I checked in Meshes/f, and the file Furn_De_Table_03.NIF is there. Does anyone know what mod might have added the Furn_De_Table_03 texture?

Thanks in advance,

Demi

It won't shed any new light, but here it is anyhow:

Not able to find Foot part in BC_shoes_expensive_03.
Model Load Error: is not a NIF file in Meshes\f\Furn_De_Table_03.NIF.
Will use the default object Marker_Error.NIF.
The "Not able to find Foot" part is always in the Warnings.txt with MGSO - something to do with either Better Bodies or Better Clothes. Not really an issue.

The Model Load Error is the issue. This message pops up in game whenever I enter a cell containing an object using Furn_De_Table_03. Which unfortunately happens quite often.

One possibility I'm entertaining is that for some reason, there is more than one mesh for that object in my meshes file - perhaps the original mesh is still there - and maybe the game is trying to load two meshes in the same place, resulting in the weird effect. If I could find out what the vanilla mesh was, I would much prefer to use that instead of these extremely low poly-res lava-effect thingies.

MGSO deleted the meshes in theory. 8)

Anyway, I appreciate the help, but it's irrelevant now anyways. I've deleted my modded game and have been playing pure vanilla for a while. It would seem that in my internal battle of Purist vs. Shiny New Things, Purist won...as usual. :D

Therefore, I actually tried to delete this thread but couldn't figure out any way to do so short of asking a mod, which seemed unnecessary. For some reason, I was under the impression that a TC could delete their own topic...
