Online guild help?

Post by Baloth-Kul »

Kay, so. I'm planning a guild for TES Online, which I will totally be getting as long as it isn't subscription based, and as long as my computer will be able to run it (which it should).

It's a guild open to Argonians, Dunmer, and Nords, and will be led by myself, naturally. I'll be playing a Dunmer Sorcerer. (If I can't get Online, then of course, somebody else could take this idea and run with it.) Basically, it's a good guy guild. Don't steal, murder, blahblahblah. Which means no Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood membership plz. But hey, if you want to join em, you can make another character probably. Or if you want to join US, you can make another character probably.

Questing or grinding together, helping eachother (lowered prices on goods and services and whatnot) or raiding together or what have you. This is what will be done in ze guild.

1. The name. I'm not sure. I've been playing around with words like dragon, fire, heart...I'd rather avoid any names that imply a particular playstyle, like THE DRAGONFIRE MAGES or KNIGHTS OF THE DRAGONHEART, because the guild is open to all classes. Any suggestions for the name?

2. The rules. They're simple, but for the sake of roleplay and solidity (roleplaying in the guild isn't necessary, but it's my preference), I've formally written up some rules and benefits of membership. Any suggestions? It's kind of a long list, but here it is. Again, basically, all it is is be a good guy. Possible rewards for good behaviour. I might give you moneys or equipment every now and then, or additional privileges or something. Any suggestions? Too many rules? Add more rules? Alter rules? Moar benefits? Less benefits? Alter benefits? Anything?

DA RULEZ
Spoiler:
Members may not provide aid to the Aldmeri Dominion, Daggerfall Covenant, or any illegal associations, outlaws, or enemies of the Ebonheart Pact.

Members may not steal from or cause harm upon another guild member.

Members may not steal from or cause harm upon an innocent, be they slave, commoner, priest, merchant, knight, noble, or otherwise.

Members may not trade in or own slaves of any race. Members MAY, however, take soldiers or officers of either the Aldmeri Dominion or Daggerfall
Covenant as prisoners as war, who must then be escorted to any well-manned garrison, fort, or prison of the Ebonheart Pact.

Members may not trade in or own moon sugar, skooma, or any other illegal narcotic substances.

Failure to abide by these rules will result in punishment at the discretion of the guildmaster or his lieutenants, up to and including death.
Dem benefits
Spoiler:
Members may freely worship any deity, be they Aedra, Daedra, or otherwise, as long as the guild's rules and the laws of the land are upheld.

Members may offer lowered prices on goods and services to other members.

Members may join other LAWFUL guilds.

Members may accept payment or gifts for performing honourable deeds.

Members may travel freely throughout Tamriel, so long as they check in with the guildmaster or his lieutenants at least once every month, in person or by letter, unless otherwise permitted by the guildmaster*.

Members in good standing may receive equipment or stipend at the discretion of the guildmaster or his lieutenants.

Members in good standing who have been slain in combat will have their remains returned home (if possible), and their spouse or next of kin will
receive compensation.

Members in good standing may receive additional benefits at the discretion of the guildmaster or his lieutenants.

*(I expect members to be fairly active, but if real-world commitments or issues make it difficult, I can make exceptions.)
3. That's it! Please don't spam the thread. I would like suggestions, and will totally accept people for membership *as long as they can follow dem rules*. I'm not a nazi, but I want this guild to be a good guy guild, plain and simple.

*******Also, could a mod lock/whatever this old thread? http://forums.uesp.net/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=33796 It's dusty, decrepit, and I only need this thread, and perhaps a dedicated membership/whatever thread when Online is released and IF I can actually RUN the bloody guild.

This maybe should be in the Elder Scrolls online section.
Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

Maybe. Though I don't believe it would get any attention there. All I need is a little advice, and then when everything is solidified, and should it become a certainty that I am getting Online and making this guild, then I would be putting up a proper sort of guild page in the Online section.

...Not that it's getting any of the desired attention in TES General, mind you.

That's not an excuse. We have things nicely organized so members and readers know where to go when looking for specific information, so asking about the online game outside of the online subforum might not be as beneficial as you want. I think the lack of attention is because people are on the fence about getting the game and there's still a lot of unknowns about it, more so than the lack of general interest. Just be patient, silly! ;)

So, yes, I'm moving this to the online subforum, but I think it'll be for the best!
