Prologue Part 1: The Dragon's Attack!
Spoiler:
With a heartbeat, the wings fell. Cassardis was being attacked! I mustered up my courage for no one else was, and stared at the dragon, I took in its’ open chest, scarred ridden, glowing, its scales red as sin, its eyes, feral and furious. The clatter of swords striking the ground and each other reached my ears, sounding much like a bell toll, mournful. I twisted towards the area the sound came from, and saw the soldiers fleeing. Cowards. The dragon roared, it sounded like a tornado, and landed upon the beach, with a heavy sound thud. I gulped down the bile rising and kept the fear down, not allowing it to spread. I ran for the swords. It was only a short distance, but my heart beats stretched it out, into an age, into eternity, I reached the swords. My hand gripped the hilt of one, close and half buried under others, my hand wrenched it from its resting place, calling it to arms. I turned and nearly got swept away by a tide of bodies, I pushed though, some dead in their arms, some dead on the ground. I shed a silent tear, and clambered over them. I soon reached the beach, it was crowned in dragonfire.
Spoiler:
The beach, crowned in dragonfire, was as hot as a furnace, it seemed to burn my feet even after the flames died and though my footwear. The sands retained the heat, as did the burnt corpses. My sword, if possessed, shot forward and went for the dragon, I was obliged to follow. I yelled as I charged, the dragon looked at me as my sounds reached its ears, it looked with those hate filled eyes, and seemed to laugh. He swept me away, a leaf before a storm, but not before I managed to plunge my sword, inch deep into its flesh. I landed in the receding tide, groaning in pain, I was sure my bones broke, as the dragon looked at its hand, and the sword, a change came upon it as the sword slipped out of its flesh, and it turned to me. I felt like this was the end, I did not feel ready, I felt fear, but held it. It approached me, looking down at me, crouching, it began to chant in a strange language. Its claws approached, hovering over my body, it came to my chest. Pain, so much pain, my clothes ripped, I looked at my chest, laid open like a turkey, I saw my heart, held in the wicked claws of the dragon, it was still chanting. My chest was healing, by some unknown magick, by some curse. The dragon brought my heart to its face, and eyed it like a prized meal, still chanting, my heart started to glow oddly, my hands reached for it, but could not make the distance. My heart was floating, pulsing, glowing towards the dragon’s mouth, my heart was being eaten. “No…” passed my lips before the dragon swallowed my heart whole, I felt a new bout of pain crack though my body and the world grew dark. “Help me! He moves still!” A voice called out in the blackness, female, odd, she sounds like my friend. “Face me…” Another voice echoed in my head, sounding much like the dragon.
