The culture you find most and least interesting
I find the Dark Elf culture fascinating , I enjoy how its divided into many different factions with many values and the feuding between the groups , and the alien foods , and lands
The culture I find least interesting is the Nords , it just seems to be a barren land dotted with a few un-interesting Jarls squabbling over the Empire's scraps , and I find the whole honour thing quite tedious

I like Altmer culture the most, I have a post about it haha. I find Breton Culture to be boring,it's just like reading the medevial section of a history book.

Dwemer. Dwemer, by far. All of their advanced technology, their knowledge, their cruelty...Very interesting. When I go into Dwemer ruins, I take *EVERYTHING*. Not just the enchanted weapons and armor, not just the gems and scrolls, EVERYTHING. Every plate and bowl and cog and mug and fork. For scientific purposes. What were they like, how did they make things, et cetera. ...Granted, they obviously just end up adorning the shelves of my Markarth home, since I can't *really* study them.

Re: The culture you find most and least interesting
Hmm....I'd say for me, the most interesting is a tie between that of the Ayleids, Dwemer, and Dunmer. I have a big interest in history, and when exploring Dwemer and Ayleid ruins and reading the few texts that shed light on them I feel like I am discovering a very real culture, which I find incredibly enjoyable. As for the Dunmer, I really do love their culture as well, between the strange plants and creatures, great houses, and Temple...the uniqueness of it was actually what initially prompted me to play Morrowind. As for the least interesting...I'd have to say Nords. Not to say that I don't find them interesting, just that all the other races and their respective cultures are more interesting to me.

Just like Glyre, it's a tie for me between the Dunmer, Altmer, and Dwemer. So mysterious, and I love it.
Least interesting culture? Truly, the only reason we love the cultures we do is because we have been properly introduced to them, unlike some of the lesser known ones, such as the Orismer or Bosmer.

Re: The culture you find most and least interesting
Least interesting would go to Nords. I always found it funny when pro-Stormcloak Nords in Skyrim whined about "preserving their culture," and I would just say, "WHAT CULTURE?" It's not like in Morrowind and Oblivion, where the Nords had the old animal Gods. Now, the Nords are modernized and a bit boring.
The culture of Black Marsh is fascinating though. I love how the Argonians have a relationship with the Hist trees.

^ and a furry.
But to keep this post at least a bit on-topic: I think the least interesting cultures are the ones that closely resemble medieval Europe, so Bretons and Imperials. The most interesting to me would be the "beast" races, because they are really different and because we know so little about them.
I'm not choosing the Dunmer, because we've learned so much about them in Morrowind and they sort of lost the mysterious appeal they had. Their culture is complicated, multi-layered and very original, but too well known to still be fascinating to me.
Huh. I think I'm a TES hipster.

Re: The culture you find most and least interesting
You know, the Dunmer culture is interesting to me, but I think the reason it holds such special appreciation is because I was so madly in love with Morrowind, which introduced us to their complex history. If any other game so closely entwined me with a culture, I would love that, too.
Speaking of: I really do find Breton and Bosmer culture very interesting. For the Bretons, it's because they are so similar to history I am familiar with, as well as the interesting twists you get with political intrigue and unrest, citizens who are caught up in the idea of adventure, and stratification of social classes; with the Bosmer, it's because I find things like the Great Hunt, their diets, and religion to be very unique, as well as the way other races perceive them. (Social implications always get my little s'wit heart a-flutterin'.)
Least interesting? To be honest, I don't know if I have a least interesting, just cultures I don't think I am super familiar with. I'm going to throw the Argonians into that mix. I really don't know enough about them to be intrigued, so they usually fall off my radar. I'm probably missing some great stuff!

Re: The culture you find most and least interesting
Favorite? Dunmer and Altmer. The dunmer have a really interesting history and a TON (several most likely) of lore from morrowind.
Least interesting in my opinion? Nordic culture, though i dont credit this to the race itself. They really watered down the lore in skyrim and it is really hitting my impression of skyrim hard. Even oblivion seemed to have more. But then again it was my first TES so it is probably just that.

Re: The culture you find most and least interesting
Altmer, certainly, both historically and how the culture has changed since the founding of the Dominion. Then Ayleid/Dwemer (spooky ancient techno-eldritch races ftw), followed by the civilized, suave, and traditionally powerful Imperials.
Way at the end of the spectrum, Argonians. I mean, enviro-religious tribals, who live in swamps and whose greatest skill appears to be getting themselves enslaved by superior neighbors? Yuck. Orcdom is pretty boring, too.
Cultures like the Nordic and Khajiiti fall into the middle of the pack, due to their societal emphasis on drinking, and getting lit up on moon sugar and Purple Drank, respectively.

Re: The culture you find most and least interesting
Probably the Bretons. Half man and half elf-y. I like their homeland as well, governed by a bunch of diff't fiefdoms and medieval-esque kingdoms. I hope the next ES game can be set in High Rock and possibly involve an Aldmeri Dominion invasion or something along those lines. I also like how the Bretons stay true to the Empire and cease to succeed or erupt into civil war. I like Argonians too, along with the other beast races. Dwemer and such make the list too.
The Nords are okay, but they seem a little less interesting than the other masses. I was kinda disappointed when I found that the ES:V would be set in Skyrim, because it seemed like a boring, frozen iceberg. I was proven very wrong, but still Nords are not my favorite.

I like the Breton culture, for a number of reasons. Altmer, Bosmer (minus the cannibalism stuff) and Nord are quite interesting for me as well.
Argonians and Dunmer are extremely boring for me, I don't know why. Orcs as well.

I think they are all interesting in their own right. I find the Imperials fascinating with their ties to the Akaviri. But I especially love the Altmer. Those pompous elves

I wonder if it is at all because you've never played Morrowind? It seems like that is what makes most people fall in love with them.

Re: The culture you find most and least interesting
Great question, for me, I think it's hard to argue that the Dunmer don't have one of the most interesting cultures in the Elder Scrolls universe, simply by virtue of the fact that they're one of the most developed whilst also being one of the most alien. In saying that, I love the Khajiit culture and am keen to see a game in Elsweyr simply so we could see an expansion of this culture. The Altmeri and Bosmeri cultures are also high on my list. The culture of High Rock, while filled with political intrigue, seems a little too familiar to me, and thus it is probably my least favourite.

I find the Dwemer culture to be most interesting because of their scientific knowledge and mysterious nature. The least interesting would be the imperial culture. It's so...bland.

Re: The culture you find most and least interesting
Most interesting? Argonian. The mysterious nature of The Hist and the whole tribal aspect intrigues me. I love how lately the Argonians have been on the rise, with the An-Xileel defeating the invading daedra and leading the Argonains to victory. I can see the Argonians becoming a major factor in the upcoming second Great War of the Aldmeri Dominon vs Humans. The Bosmer culture has garnered my interest lately as well. After reading up on such lore aspects like Green Pact and their god Y'ffre I have become increasingly interested in them, almost to the point where a TES:VI in Valenwood would be like a lore nerd's wet dream for me.
Orcish would rank third, their stongholds fascinate me.
Least Interesting? Imperial. Seeing as they are the run-of-the-mill human is RPGS, I fail to see any defining sepcts of their culture. That's not to say their culture is boring, I simply like others better. Bretons bore me a little as well.

My least favourite culture is also the Dunmer , and i played morrowind ...Glyre wrote:wonder if it is at all because you've never played Morrowind? It seems like that is what makes most people fall in love with them.
every time i open a book about the dunmer and attempt to read it i am incredibly bored after the first 2 pages , i hate theirs , it just bores me .
also nord culture is a bit crap as well , nothing interesting really , basicly 1- Fight Honourably 2- Drink 3-..... 4-PROFIT !! (forgive the south park joke
my favourites would be : Bosmeri culture (crazy cannibal tribal rituals , jumping monkey folks , walking cities , shining rosey cities ) and the human cultures of the game (excluding Nords) especially the redguard ... but another very interesting culture that i would like to learn about in Khajiit culture

I think all TES cultures have their goods and bads. Personally, I find Argonian culture more interesting, mostly because I know nothing of Argonian |culture.
