Returning to Oblivion
I've been playing Skyrim pretty much non-stop for the past couple of months and have decided to go back to Oblivion and make a new character just to take a little break from slaying dragons and the like.
The problem is that i've created nearly every type of character thinkable in Oblivion and, after taking a look at the roleplaying guide, i was wondering if anyone had any 'alternative' roleplaying ideas for Oblivion that branch away from the standard thief, assassin, warrior, mage etc

Priest/priestess, cleric, monk, healer, etc?
Necromancer, warlock, witch, etc?
Alchemist, beggar, bard, pilgrim, etc?
I don't know. XD I tried to play Oblivion after Skyrim, and it just seems so . . boring. . to me.

Re: Returning to Oblivion
Good merchant travelling from city to city, raiding dungeons and selling the loot for profit until he/she has every house and expensive item.
Evil merchant: the same, only kill the good NPCs
100% completion char (my current): Use the wiki to complete 100% of the game

Re: Returning to Oblivion
Why not try to build on something you've enjoyed from Skyrim? Maybe roleplay as a student of the College of Winterhold come to Cyrodiil to see the Arcane University and escape the politics of Winterhold while forging a name for themself. Or a Companion seeking wider fame and glory in the Arena, while working for the Fighters Guild after freeing themself from the Companions' 'special condition'. Maybe the Dovakiin before they realised their Thu'um power. What have you enjoyed? How do you enjoy playing?

Role-play as Jesus, or a non hostile character. If you've ever heard of Vash The Stampede, role play as if you were him.

Re: Returning to Oblivion
Mad Scientist: Wander the world as a nature rambler trying to collect examples of every known Alchemy ingredient. Spend hours locked away in your "lab" experimenting with them to brew up 3 and 4-effect potions and poisons. Emerge bleary-eyed to conduct experiments on "live subjects" (including yourself) to see how your brews perform in the field. You can go "Mwahahahahahar!" if you want.
Museum Curator: Wander the world dungeon delving a la Indiana Jones in search of at least one example of every known weapon and armour piece. The rarer and more unique, the better. Tip: Don't level up until you've collected everything possible at your current Level. This becomes easier once preferred skills are at Master level, as using them means NO levelling progress.
Research Mage: Do the Mages Guild Recommendations, then spend time buying up all spells and Soul Gems, trapping souls and collecting the best-looking weapons/armour to use for research into high-end Spellmaking and Enchanting. The aim is to create the ultimate weapons and apparel for the discerning adventurer with money to burn. The equivalent of the "top-of-the-range 200mph Lamborghini with ALL the features" that only the fithy rich can afford.
Village Idiot: Create the most deliberately crippled weak custom character class you can (birthsign The Atronach, badly chosen Major skills which make it difficult to level up and DON'T include any weapon/armour skills at all). Then roleplay the biggest accident-prone kludge of a Village Idiot in Cyrodiil who gets unwillingly roped into saving the world then becomes obsessed with succeeding against all the odds. Gives the game a completely different strategical cast, forcing you to THINK your way through by learning the game mechanics and exploiting them "legally" in ways you'd never normally contemplate.

Re: Returning to Oblivion
Role-play as a dude from the future, from the time of skyrim!
Or as the Dovahkiin that went back in time, but is obviously unknown back then? Are you on PC? If you are then use mods for shouts/wearing the amulet of kings etc.

Re: Returning to Oblivion
That might lend weight to the Thalmor's claim that they are the saviours of Mer, not just because they fought back the Daedra in Summerset, but because one of their agents was the Champion of Cyrodiil.

Re: Returning to Oblivion
I've been playing Skyrim since it came out, but after having Oblivion for 3+ years, I have yet to finish the main quest. I'll need to do it someday.. I imagine Skyrim will be much the same for me.
