Things you love about Skyrim
With all of the hate around Skyrim in some of these threads, I figured I should make one that made it easy for you to share what you love about Skyrim, not what you can't stand.
I'll start. The leveling system is a vast improvement over Oblivion, even if it's not Morrowind. For instance, yesterday I created a new character and went through Brittle Shin pass. I soon figured out that I could not take on the Apprentice Necromancers inside so I made a B-Line for the exit. Just something that would never happen in Oblivion.

Re: Things you love about Skyrim
Was waiting for a thread like this.
In my case it's more like what I don't love about Skyrim. There's only a few minor nitpicks and I posted those in the other thread.
So yeah, I like pretty much everything in Skyrim.

Re: Things you love about Skyrim
I distinctively remember posting in a thread with this topic already... where did it go?
Well, anyway. I love all the armor. Huuuuuuge improvement over Oblivion. While, sadly, many of the Nordic styles simply aren't to my taste, having three or even four variations simply of Fur, speaks to the pretty large menu of armor to wear. And they all look incredible either way. Especially Ebony and Glass.
I really like some of the new magical effects. Specifically Lunar/ Silent Moon/ Light Damage. Pairs great with characters that are most active at night (they also balanced it very nicely -- does better damage than Fire, and has more uses, to make up for only being active at night. A good compromise for new characters) and the Ebony Mail's shroud effect, which is a long overdue effect in the TES games. Too bad it's so rare.
On the topic of magic, I love the new Soul Trap animation. Very, very pleasing to watch.
I also love that Beth took a huge step forward in the direction I've been waiting for RPGs to go by introducing dragons that can act on their own and move freely. I'm very excited to see where it goes with more elaboration on the implementation of those kinds of mobs.

The improvement to Bow and archery in general is fantastic in Skyrim, compared to Oblivion.
Something I've only just started using, within the last couple hours of play, is the Throw Voice shout. Its AWESOME! As a career thief and marksman, I can't believe how long I made it before even trying it out. Its my new favorite non-dragonrend shout. Its also pretty funny the stuff your character says when you throw voice to lure enemies around, if you haven't tried it, invest a single dragon-soul just to play around with it.

I love the graphics the new looks of all the races, more nord lore, dragons, the combat, the finishers, archery, the slightly improved slums, beards, face paint, scars, being able to command followers.

I love the forsworn; they are a blast to fight. They are a very interesting addition. I still remember my first battle with them. I watched them take down a blood dragon before fighting them.

Re: Things you love about Skyrim
I love the combat system and the perk system. Dual wielding Bound Swords with my Altmer is really fun. I also like how enemies, at level 33, can still give me a run for my money in some cases.
Dragons are great to fight against and they feel "natural". Save for the fact that they can appear at the most inopportune moments sometimes.
But the biggest thing I love about Skyrim is the sheer scope of the environments. I love the plains of Whiterun, the autumn trees of the Rift, and the frozen wastelands of the Pale. The night sky, especially lit up with the auroaborealious (very bad spelling) made me stop for a good 5-10 minutes, and that happened to me in various points. Sunsets in the Rift, mornings in Morthal, and Fog in Falkreath all are incredibly beautiful and made me stop in my tracks while on a quest or hunting for deer.
The dungeons are unique and a vast improvement over the ones in Oblivion. They feel unique, and I feel like there's a story waiting to be discovered in each location. There is also the fact that there are little things and details that one would miss if one didn't go off the beaten path. There were bodies in crevices, places to be found, abandoned shacks waiting to be discovered etc.
The voices are also pretty well done, even if they are recycled I still like the emotion and accents. Mercer Fray and karliah are my favorite.
Armor looks great. I'm still wearing my iron armor and I'm at level 33. All in all, skyrim is one of my favorite games of all time, and when I improve my PC, goodbye vacations.

I love fighting some forsworn, then a dragon attacks and both me and the forsworn fight the dragon, then go back to killing each other.

The fact that I can run it decently on lowest settings on my laptop and it still looks amazing.
Combat system is interesting enough as well. Also lightning spells.

Re: Things you love about Skyrim
Let's go!
In no particular order:
1: I like that you can navigate caves without the need for nighteye or a torch
2: leveling up seems much easier than Oblivion- for instance I only ever made it up to L25 in Oblivion and i played it A LOT.
3: Alchemy and Enchanting are much more acessible- never created one potion in Oblivion- couldn't figure it out.
4: Dual wielding is great, whether it be two weapons or weapon/ spell
5: Destruction magic is more fun
6: Placing/ picking up items and decorating your house is easier and the wealth of items and trinkets around is great
7: Daggers are actually worth using
8: Some fantastic quests (the quests for the Guldar Amulet come to mind)
9: Superb graphics and sound across the board (love the blood splashes and blood stained weapons)
10: The value for money of this game! I am currently L48, and nowhere near finishing up with this character, and then I will be creating another character to specialise in the things I did not do this time (light armour, conjuration, archery, alchemy) and do the questlines I did not do (companions, stormcloaks, thieves guild)

Re: Things you love about Skyrim
Finally, I was tired of all the hate skyrim was getting.
1. The forsworn. When I first fought them I assumed they were just some kind of bandit group. But after doing the forsworn conspiracy I suddenly sympathized for their cause.
2. Dual wielding. In the other TES games if you didn't want to use a two handed weapon, then there was no reason to NOT use a shield. Thieves don't use shields, at least not my idea of a thief. It's nice to have the option, and I hope they keep it in later games. The animation for the attacks is quite good too.
3. The way people look. In oblivion, faces were terrible. But in skyrim they all look amazing.
4. The voice acting. admittedly, it's rather hit and miss. But when it's good, it's awesome. Sure, Farengar Secret-Fire has some of the worst voice acting I've heard in a tes game. But guys like Cicero were really something else.
5. The magic system. It is a huge improvement over the other games. You feel powerful when you cast destruction spells. And now for the first time, you can actually be a necromancer.
There's a lot more, but I these are the ones that stand out the most.

Re: Things you love about Skyrim
I played for the first couple of months on the x-box but now that my computer is up and running properly I have moved on to the PC version. My system maxes out Skyrim and now i am enjoying just walking from place to place. Destruction is great, dual-wielding is fun and I really enjoy the perks as I find them to be more intuitive towards role-playing. The only thing I really miss is a two-handed katana.

Re: Things you love about Skyrim
There's a lot of things I love about Skyrim. I suppose the big one is exploration. Oblivion's world seemed rather dull, with the occasional wolf or what-ever as you wandered around. Skyrim I run into all sorts of things, bears, sabre-cats, Conjurers who're having the crap blown out of them by their own summons, dragons, pretty areas...
And then there's the sky, especially at night. When the aurora pops out... beautiful.
I'll also admit, I like the lack of stats like Strength and what-not. Gives me so much more freedom when choosing my race.

Re: Things you love about Skyrim
I love that I am absolutely and completely overwhelmed by the possibilities of what to do next.
Honestly. I haven't even gotten far because I start up the game and spend endless minutes debating what to do, and I simply cannot decide. I can handle quests or just enjoy little radiant ones; I can explore for treasures or live a rather ordinary life chopping wood; I can fight a civil war or oppose the Thalmor. Really, there are so many possibilities that I'm quite honestly very, very lost. And that's something!
But the thing I love the most? Facial hair and beards. God bless you, Beth, for finally allowing men to have a little fuzzy-wuzzy on their cheeks.

I wanted to do that with my Imperial, for a kind of "proper" look. Ended up giving him a full beard. :\
