Figured I would make one since I need help and others might.
My first character was a failure due to pickpocketing and lockingpicking everything. I have started over and I am paying more careful attention. I am level 3 right now and have been trying to almost exclusively use destruction, Illusion, and other magic skills. I want to do swords but I am guessing getting good at magic early will help more in the long run. Is this a good approach? once I max out the magic skills I am going to use I figure I will go back and work on one handed.

Re: The Skills and Perks help thread
You certainly have a harder time if you use too many skills early on (especially crafting skills), you really need to focus on a couple at most.
I've found that if I focus solely on one offensive skill (weapon skill/destruction/archery/sneak) and one defensive skill (Alteration/Light/Heavy/block) it makes combat easier than if you spread the love around. The combination of higher damage, armor and chance to stagger makes most enemies have a hard time even getting a strike out, let alone hurt you.
