Theory: multiplayer on DLC?

Post by Estermine »

So this is just a speculation and i have no proof of it. :(
But I have read an interview (some time a go) where Pete Hines told multiplayer wont be on game but they think idea is interesting.

So what if one of the DLC is multiplayer :?: :?: :?:
What do you think?
If there is multiplayer what kind will it be?

Speculate freely!!!!!!!!!

I am guessing either arena style PvP (maybe they have reconnected battlespire or something similar :D) or co-op dungeon and cave exploring.

Tell your own thoughts and I don't seriously believe this will be in game.

It's possible, but not probable. I think it is highly unlikely. I would rather they just give me more content than bother trying to configure an online system.

Yeah, I'd rather have the additional content. New lands to explore, new dungeons, horse armor...heheheh
To see the world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.

I think Pete answered this fully:
Pete Hines wrote:"So certainly we could do multiplayer"... "what we end up with is unpalatable. It'd make a lesser version of the game. And there is no doubt on the dev side that that is the case."

OK, as i said before i don't think multiplayer will be in game

I am more interested of hearing your guesses of what kind of multiplayer could be in game

IF, and that's a big if, there were to be multiplayer in a future installment, spin-off, or even DLC for this current TES game, then I would kind of hope that it'd be separate from the main story. Similar to how Mass Effect 3 is doing their co-op. It takes place in the same universe, during specific battles that your character is never really a part of, so it doesn't really effect (directly or indirectly) your main single player campaign. I am a fan of this approach mainly because I don't want a co-op session dictating what happens in my offline, single player, experience.

Nothing online pure couch co-op, online you can run into tons of problems, but if it was online id only play with friends, and i would want it linked to our single player so if i have a quest done that they dont they can still turn theres in even though im host and its done for me and vice versa, also would want them to putthe effort in before a release of it, to advoid all duplication glitch possiblitys. Max of 6 players online would also be nice so its sorta like a real adventuring party. Although i see problems on the world map with everyone splitting up and the game crashing/lagging from the loading, but i dont want a limit distance from your friends thing that always annoys me in some games. Also people could also [&@%!] others off by continuely go to a place via loading screen, then again host could have a kick function, unless they manage us in different cells which i dont see happening. Also wondering if one of my friends were to get a bounty would we whom are in game get a bounty to? Or will he get arrested then we can go visit him in prison/execution. Overall i love the idea if its pure team, no friendly fire free roaming adventure party, but with alot of possible issues.

A lot of potential for griefing : /, someone could just join your world, wipe out all the towns, and leave : /

Do not want. And aside from my prejudice, I don't think it would really fit with the spirit of TES. If however it were to be included, I like the ideas of a totally separate world it would take place in, or simply a dedicated multiplayer version of the main game. For example, it could involve a dragon break, where there are twins, who are both Dovahkiin. Then it just kinda follows the same story etc. That would still make sense lore wise. I think...

Well, there has been multiplayer in the Elder Scrolls games before. Battlespire had multiplayer. The modes available were deatmatch, co-op, and the classic red vs. blue pointless quagmire fights. If there were multiplayer, they'll probably be a few options.

The only kind of multiplayer I would want in my Elder Scrolls would be same-console co-op. Nothing more than that. Otherwise, griefing would be absolutely terrible.

Yeah, it's mentioned in the game's advertisement (look it up on YouTube). It should probably get a mention on the wiki.

Me and a friend were talking about this the other day and I have to admit I kinda wish he was in Bethy.
His idea for multiplayer, would it ever happen is to fight a friend character in an arena, to test how different weapons work and to test things you often don't use and how effective it is against strong characters.

It would work by getting character info over PSN or XBOX Live, and then fighting the character, controlled by AI, however the plan was basically for bragging right. 'My character CAN in fact beat yours.'

And what about PC arena fights? Give yourself some crazy test items via the console and kill your friend's 100% legit character.

I like that. I always remember my brother and i fighting over whose character would kill who's in oblivion.

Multiplayer could work via online if you think about it. But maybe not using your single player characters. I think it would work best if you had a separate "online account". One where you CANNOT play offline with. So it doesn't give you an unfair advantage to get by certain spots in your single player game. IF multiplayer were an online reality, the online world might just be free play, (ex. fight in arena against each other, hunt together, kill people what eva! Not necessarily containing all the same quests.

If there was multiplayer, i would say it should require invite, or system link if that's still a thing anymore, and also a max of two players. No split screen though, i couldn't handle playing a game like tes in splitscreen. Also pvp arena idea thrown in there, but the co-op would be it's own seperate thing, completely seperate from single player.

I might play that once or twice. But i'm a single player guy, through and through.

I kind of liked the way fable 2 did it. If you have a registered friend (none of this random match-up crap) that you want to play with for a bit, you have the option to invite them into your world, which fits into story by just saying "Hey. There's this adventurer in the tavern I've not met. Let's walk around together for a bit."

Also, best part: TOTALLY optional.
