I just jumped on to The Elder Scrolls Express bandwagon and have grown pretty fond of Oblivon (gonna get Skyrim, have yet to play Morrowind[I've heard very good things about it],Daggerfall and Arena)
While I was channel surfing I stumbled upon a doc on NatGeo about how they think that it's entirely possible that humankind evolved on other planets and that pretty soon we may have contact with our brothers and sisters on another world. Personally, I do not belive for one minute that we are IT, theres gotta be something else out there in outer space. This got the wheels turning in my head, is it possible that in the TES universe, Nirn could be the hypothetical "other planet capable of sustaning life"? There is a lot of earth species on Nirn (horses, wolves, deer, bears)....I know that people are going to give me the whole in-game lore spiel about The Nine Divines and the realm of Oblivion, but could that just be mythology like what the ancient Greeks and Romans belived in?
It gets you thinking....

Besides magic, it's definitely possible for a Elder Scrolls world to exist. Likely? Probably not, but very possible.
Now if we delve into the multiverse, then yes, I do believe eventually we will hit Nirn with magic, unicorns, dunmer, etc, etc, because as far as I know the multiverse is infinite.
EDIT: Oh good I have the quote in my sig. Read that.

There is an infinite number of alternate universes, which means all books are non-fiction.

As Giordano said
You can replace books with games, films, tv shows or whatever. If that is true somebody in a different reality is writing a story about you. There is an infinite number of alternate universes, which means all books are non-fiction.

Re: Planet Nirn=a sister Earth?
Yeah, the universe is infinite and all that, but you have to think about it logically. For 'humans' to evolve on a different planet would mean this planet would have to have pretty much identical selection pressures nudging evolution in that general direction. Plus, there would have to be the same niche for these human lookalikes to fill without competition from other species - the only reason humans and indeed mammals as a whole group ended up being so successful was because of the extinction of the dinosaurs, who kept mammalian life restricted to small, ground-dwelling or arboreal creatures.
Then you've got to look at our forefathers - Homo erectus, Homo habilis, Homo heidelbergensis, going as far back as Australopithecus afarensis or whichever ape-like creature you choose to believe spawned us. Put these in a line, with us at the forefront and you can kind of see how we got from A to B. The odds of an identical chain of species reoccuring somewhere else is slim to none.
Basically, my opinion is: Humanoids? Absolutely. It is one of few practical forms befitting a species of our intelligence, so the odds of evolution forming creatures with our general shape elsewhere is entirely possible. But actual humans? No way. Even if, by some miracle, another 'sister Earth' if you will, turned out a species that was physically indistinguishable from our own, we would almost certainly be genetically wired in a completely different way. In other words, our DNA would be vastly different, thus we would technically be considered separate species anyway, regardless of how similar our visible phenotypes are.

Re: Planet Nirn=a sister Earth?
Well another thing i watched on netgeo covering somthing similar, said that its possible that our ancestors were not of this planet but another and were in the search of other inhabitalbe planets like we are now, reason why unknown, but if i had to guess it would be them killing there planets like we are, anywho they went on to say its possible that they could have been advanced enough "starcraft" advanced and sent their DNA to our planet, which would disprove the different dna theroy even though we could look the same as another species on another planet.
