If you met God, what would you ask him?
Moderator: Tea Party Mods
If you met God, what would you ask him?
If you were walking down the street, minding your own business and then all of a sudden you meet God, what would you ask him?
I have absolutely no clue myself. We were discussing this in history class.
Okay guys, don't bring religious DEBATE into this, it's a simple question. If you're of another religion, imagine it's your main god.
This is a serious thread, I will only tolerate serious answers.
Again, no religious debate or the thread will get insta-locked and you will have no friends for the rest of your life.

Re: If you met God, what would you ask him?
If I met God on the street, and I was fully aware that he was THE GOD, and everything I had ever learned as a Catholic was real, I don't think I would have much to ask him. The biggest questions I would have, what happens when we die, is my faith just faith or something more real, etc etc, would be answered just by his presence I think. I often wonder whether or not I actually believe, so if I actually met God, I would not doubt. So I would know what happens when I die and so on. Therefore, I would probably ask him something like "What came before you, or are the first of everything?" I wouldn't be so much interested in myself, but getting to know him.

What do you think he would look like anyway? I always imagine him as a Hispanic guy with a dog, for some reason.

This is a great topic. I...don't know what I would ask Him. There are so many possibilities. Perhaps something about the universe. Why is it that intelligent life struggles to rise for eons in a universe that is destined to collapse anyhow? What is the meaning? Is there something beyond this?
I think that is more than one question. God and I might have to have tea and crumpets to discuss it.

'If God had a name, what would it be
and would you call it to his face, if you were faced with him
in all his glory? What would you ask if you had
just one question?'
I hated that song. And to stay on topic I'd ask him three things.
1) 'Seriously, God, what actually happened at the beginning of the universe? I suppose your existence confirms the garden of Eden and all that malarky, unless those Italians are right and the fact that we've broken the light barrier means that science is right.'
2) 'So, God, have you ever actually appeared in person to anyone? Were all those people claiming to have seen you telling the truth after all?'
3) 'Am I going to go to heaven after I die or is this it? Because I don't think I could handle the latter...'

Why would I have to question God? Anything to which he/she answered would become a question that was not worth asking.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.
Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

Here's my question.
And I'm completely serious.
I'd just ask him,
Why?

alright except we both know what's wrong with this statement. I won't go into other detail than this: MEANING OF LIFE IS NOT 42.addictedtomorrowind wrote:I would ask him: "What is the meaning of life? And it can't be 42."
As for myself, I wouldn't ask him about life after death because it would be a depressing answer. If I find out life after death is freaking amazing, I will be all depressed and have to wait 100 years to get there and if I find out it sucks or there is none, I will be really depressed too finding out I'm living this whole life for nothing.
I would most likely ask him HOW he did all this things, WHERE his powers come from, if he was the first and if there's other gods too.

Which god? For us who's not following a monotheistic religion it's kind of discriminating.

Re: If you met God, what would you ask him?
I'd ask him/her/them the thing that always bugs me about the lack of detail religions have about their own God(s).
"If it's true you created the universe, and the universe started with the Big Bang, does the universe constantly collapse and explode ever so many billions of years or so? if that is true, then firstly, how did the universe start then? Secondly, were you always there in the nothingness before? Or are you just an interdimensional hitchhiker? And while we're on the subject, how did you come to be exactly? Nothing just appears..."
not exactly one question, but they loop the same general subject. The start.
