A Curiosity post

Post by Dan-Ru »

I just read something in here before about a Yu-Gi-Oh based RP. And that lit a little spark in my brain.

I happen to have two decks of what is effectively first gen Yu-Gi-Oh Cards. I mean, Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters and Yu-Gi-Oh GX series cards. Not the stupid 5D's series that changed the rules entirely.

Anyway, i digress. Playing this card game was a good past time for me, unfortunately noone around in my district plays anymore. So thats where the point of the post comes in.

I'm curious to know if anyone here has a deck and doesn't mind duelling. Because i was thinking it could be possible to use Skype (or something like that) to have real time duels over the net.

Yes i'm nerdy, and curious. Just let me know anyway, seems a shame to have all these cards an noone to play with from time to time.

HA! Dueling over Skype!  That would be so awesome!
But alas, I to play Yu-Gi-Oh... and yes, I'm a tad obsessed with it too. Last I counted, I have about 500 or so cards...
Yeah...

Though I do have to admit, I'm not really goof at it though, so anyone would probably kick my ass!

GX?

That would be the one with Sypher Red somethin yellow and blue right? The one based at Duel Academy? That one isn't bad? I found some from the original Duel Monsters series the other day. Slightly jaw drop moment. Its all those 5D's crap now. The one that ignores the basic summoning rules. And makes it easy to get your best card out first turn. Hate that series. Just ruined it.

What decks do you have? I have a Machine deck and the Return of the Dragon lords starter (modified slightly of course. :P)

You know? I don't really know... I just got random decks and messed around with them...
I don't think I have a full deck, as I play for keeps... :| I should go through them sometime...
Yeah, 5D just killed it... Then again, it was pretty dead when they released GX so...

True, GX was kinda good for it though. Revived interest. 5D's just chased away all the old fans to the Anime. And i doubt any who have cards predating that would ever buy any 5D's series cards.

I hope there are a few more hobby duelers arouund the forum somewhere. I think it would be nice to have a small group of people to do this with from time to time. it would be like the MSN party forums or the RP area in a way. Least, i think so anyway. I just hope there are honest people that would play, considering how easy it would be to cheat over skype. :/

lol. I doubt there would be a lot of point anyway. After the third time you've summoned your best card third turn in. I think you would be suspected. LOL

Play for keeps wouldn't work either. Just sayin' because i'm too lazy to be shipping cards around the world because i lost a duel.

I've done a similar thing with Magic: the Gathering. Problem is, most webcams are not able to show cards effectively at any distance and most people play in what is actually poor lighting. We don't notice it because our eyes work a little different than cameras. You can try it, but it might not come out well unless both of have good cams and a suitable stand for the cam.

Sidenote: If you guys think you have a lot of cards, I have several thousand Magic: the Gathering cards, and that's only because I give away a lot of cards for free.

Bahha I love yugioh! I bought one of the games on DS that came out last year so I could duel with people online. Better than spending tons of money on real life cards and you can fool around and make CRAZY decks.

You should really consider getting a yugioh game for a DS to just duel with people. It can be pretty fun if its casual.

You know, I just got back into this game. I've always had a dragon deck (including a misprinted Blue-Eyes White Dragon), but now, my brother helped me get back into the game by giving me the start of a Gravekeeper deck. I also somehow managed to trade for a bunch of Dragunity monsters, which are more dragons and winged beasts that can equip themselves to each other and gain more powerful effects from doing so.

If my brother would let me use his computer for these challenges, and if the webcam wasn't fixed to an inconvenient location, then I would accept these challenges.

In other news, apparently there's a fourth series ("Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal") coming out soon, and with it will come a new monster type.

PS - I hate to double post,* but I can accept these challenges, actually. There's one condition, though, that you have to duel my brother and his more modern deck (which doesn't have any synchro monsters, fortunately) in addition to me.
