Hey I was talking to my friend who love all thing tribal and he asked me if I thought there would be tribal culture in the game.
That got me thinking. Perhaps the Nords have clans? Clans instead of the great houses of Morrowind?
I know you shouldnt mix real life and TES together but the real Norse had clans, infact that is probably what the Scottish clans are based on.
So I wonder and ask you if you think there might be different Nord clans in Skyrim? Like the houses of Morrowind?

Re: Nord clans
I think that it would make sense if there was I mean there is the whole civil war over the succession. It would not surprise me if it was more than a two sided conflict with the different clans fighting for power. There could also be a cool alliance system where you could ally with the different factions.
Got my SKYRIM fix for today. Life is good.
My new Skyrim Let's Play. The adventures of the Loveable Rogue, Mattrim.

I agree. I think warring clans would add to the whole "battle to save Nirn thing". (With fight clubs fisting it out in crudely drawn circles on the ground surrounded by campfires deep in the wilds of Skyrim)

Re: Nord clans
Well... since there's a civil war going on in Skyrim clans will exist in some way...

Re: Nord clans
I think Bethesda will include something along the lines of clans because, apart form the obvious fact that there is a civil war raging at the time of the game, the Great Houses of Morrowind were incredibly successful and the lack of interesting guilds in Oblivion was one of the major complaints about the game. A better faction system is one aspect of the game that I personally can't wait for.

Re: Nord clans
Didn't they already say that Skyrim is divided in five holds? That would seem a logical divide.
At the same time though, they can do some pretty cool things with it; for example, one hold might not be completely united, so they send the player (a neutral party) to try and unite the smaller towns and villages under one banner. Over the course of the game the player would push for each hold to either embrace the idea of independence or continued support for the Empire, possibly Alduin can only be stopped if Skyrim is united, particularly if the civil war is a key part of the prophecy rather than simply an event defining when things are going to happen.

Re: Nord clans
Just on that, why has Bethesda not made Winter Hold one of the 5 "large cities"? Will it be the Dunmer city we keep hearing about? (it already has a strong Dunmer influence)mars wrote:Nine holds, Five big cities.
