Slaves!
I've discovered their usefulness recently. I bought an Imperial from the Slave Market and enhanced him with the console. He's been following me around, and any time I want him to stay still, I set his strength to 0 via console. It's very useful, as he wields a glass war axe and makes for a good companion. Ironically, he went with me to free some other slaves in a cave. Oh well.
Post your slaves and what you do with them here! (Golly, that sounds very politically incorrect.)

Re: Slaves!
I'm on xbox, so no console or mods, but for followers in general, I find magic damage/fortify/restore attributes and skills equally helpful ... much like what I did for the merc follower in tribunal ...

Re: Slaves!
I haven't realy been introduced to Morrowind's slave industry(although my friend hits me every time I tell him slavery was wrong, so I've been[not voluntarily] pro-slavery for some time now)...
So how does it work?
Is it like pack rats? Or do you have to add items to them by console? Also do they follow you?

Re: Slaves!
You buy them from Tel Aruhn, from Savile Imayn. You have to indeed add stuff to them via console, and you can't get them to stop without setting their strength to 0. They are each 1,000 drakes to buy. Here's the wiki page.kertaw48 wrote:I haven't realy been introduced to Morrowind's slave industry(although my friend hits me every time I tell him slavery was wrong, so I've been[not voluntarily] pro-slavery for some time now)...

Yeah, i know some of this stuff, i've read the page...
Too bad they banned it in-lore...
Plus the argonians(cursed n'wah!
) have invaded Morrowind, so I guess we won't be seeing any slaves in the future...

Re: Slaves!
Well besides the one slave I needed to use for the Telvanni quest, I never really found use for them, but next time I get a good enough computer I will have to try the console on them, just I will personally give them the equipment though.
@kertaw48, slavery was abolished during the Oblivion story, when playing Morrowind it is very much alive.

In Valenwood and Summerset slavery was abolished before they became parts of the Empire. Before!
And besides Argonian mothers were selling their children to slavery so they're not very bitter about it, are they?
Yes, I suppose you're right...Dragour wrote:@kertaw48, slavery was abolished during the Oblivion story, when playing Morrowind it is very much alive.
But only 6 slaves?
I know economy on Vvardenfell is still young but still couldn't they have imported more of them...
There's a lot of inland that has not been exploited for farms... Like the grazelands...
Even the ashlanders could use some slaves... It's free work...
And there are over 10 mines that could use some...
why hire the lazy Dunmer workers(Tribunal forgive me) when you can have a hardy lizard/cat worker for only 1000 drakes?
I suppose one could say that most mines are owned by the Emperor(may Dagon worshippers forever dance on his grave) and that the Empire doesn't approve of slavery...
But if that is so, why aren't the Imps buying off slaves? Or even Khajiti and Argonian goverments?
You can't have both the cash and the slaves... No place in the world(of Tamriel) works that way...
We can only hope the proud Dunmers won't forget how they used to have people working for them(while they pick saltrice on a hot summer day with ash blowing in their faces) and they might again attempt to courageously enslave the lesser races, and(for a price) make them work...
Where was I going with this...
I blame Helseth...

Re: Slaves!
We're talking about Morrowind, not Oblivion.
And my thread's for people who have slaves, because I'm interested in how many other people have them, etc. Kindly refrain from turning it into a debate.
Edit: There are quite a few slaves that aren't for sale. Tel Aruhn is just the only place where the player can get them.

Re: Slaves!
Yeah, there aren't mayn are there...
I constructed a toilet once(near Rethan Manor) so I suppose I could put a slave near to make it look like if he was in charge of the septic tank...
If it only had one...

Re: Slaves!
Heh, I remember once when I roleplayed as a Telvanni wizard. I can't remember if I bought Ciralinde (classy) or S'bakha (traditional). And then I went to pick up the mad slaughterfish-loving guy near Gnisis, Din. He was sort of my slave to.
Didn't really do anything with them, other than watching them getting squised in fights. But boy were they a fitting entourage for a whacky telvanni dude!

I have davina and ciralinde. They're the most interesting when you have better bodies installed.

Re: Slaves!
If I had to buy a slave I think it would be a Khajit...
I'm kind of traditionalist...

Re: Slaves!
I bought the Khajiit and wanted him to stay at my Hlaalu Manor, but he disappeared because I took off his wristbands....

Isn't there a way to make them stay at my Manor, without having to use the console? Is this usable on other NPC's as well?

opening the console,
Contradiction!without having to use the console?
Anyway, I think he'll just disappear if you remove the bracers no matter what strength he has. Why not leave the bracers on?

Re: Slaves!
Ah
Thanks, Milder.
You could always cast a damage/drain strength spell on your slave. That might work if you cast it for awhile with no guards or anything.

Re: Slaves!
Me going into technicalities about games is never a good thing, but aren't slaves simply removed from the game after you leave the area in which you removed the bracers? So I don't think it'll work without the console.
Perhaps cast a soultrappedglitched-command on him before leaving him alone. Could be quite the hassle though..

Re: Slaves!
Oh, well yes, if you remove the bracers they're gone for good. I thought The Raven meant on any NPC/slave with bracers.

Re: Slaves!
Wait, I remember something. Rohugh once posted something how to make the slaves/npc's follow you to places, or something, without having to use the console. I'll go find it.
Back on-topic, I'm probably not gonna use slaves on my current character because, they're too expensive >.<!
There it was.Rohugh wrote:OK. These will be the slaves you bought, yeah they are a pain. You can take them into one of the rooms then transport away, that way they will stay but you will need recall/Almsivi/Divine spells to leave each time.
You can take any NPC to your manor. You can either cast a command humanoid spell on them and they will follow you to your destination. However, as you need to cast the spell quite a few times in the course of the journey the best way of getting them there is -
Go find a slave on one of the plantations.
Punch him and run to your destination (make sure you stay ahead).
When you get there transport away and stay away for three days. When you return they will be calm and you can just use the command spell to get them through a door with you.

Re: Slaves!
The NPC one is a gem, for sure. But for slaves, it makes more sense simply to drain their strength for perhaps a minute.
