Help!

Post by montrob »

Hey, I'm really messed up. I have the house in skingrad. All my stuff is upstairs. But when I try to go to the upstairs part, my game freezes. What do I do?

Keep your stuff downstairs in future??!

Are you on PC or Xbox?

Have you tried setting your resolution to the lowest setting? (I used to have perfect movement for resolution everywhere, until I tried walking up to the gates at Kvatch the first time, had to reset my res to manage it.)

Have you tried restoring to an earlier save?

Have you tried exiting the game entirely (poss even rebooting your machine as well) and then seeing if you can get upstairs?

(Sorry, I did actually reply just after you first posted your msg, but then got fatally distracted just before I got to click on the "Submit" butt!)

(I don't know if this is just my game but) Try saving it, erasing any autosaves, and getting arrested. That always makes my game run faster.

That's strange, getting arrested always seems to make MY life run slower...

I'm not familiar with XBOX, but can you preserve your savegames somehow and re-install the game?

Can you get a savegame off the web somehow and see if it freezes when you go upstairs?

Does it freeze when it goes to the "Loading" screen? If so, check the game disc itself. I've noticed that the game spins so much that the XBox will scratch some of the inside tracks. If that's the case, it will eventually get so bad that it can't load the game. This happened to me and I had to get a new copy, but fortunately the place I bought the game has an "insurance" policy where, for $3 more you can replace the game with no questions asked for up to a year.

Well i registered now, and I havent looked at the disc yet, so ill take a look and see if its scratched. And yea, it freezes on the load screen.

if youre on xbox you need to clear your game cache, hold down a as the game's start up screen appears (when the bethesda logo comes up) this clears what the game has cached and will make your game run better this will not erase save games. i also noticed that it freezes more when i had a lot of stuff in one crate you will notice the game loads a little slower at first but this does work

RENT IT

I'd try to rent the game from blockbuster, or borrow someones and try to load up your game and see if it glitches.
