I've Been Thinking

Post by Kestral »

Note: If this doesn't fit here, then a mod please move this into a better fitting area.

I've been thinking that, considering how Daggerfall was, and how the DS is today, who would think that Daggerfall on the DS would work properly?
If some of the random generating (which in its self is more prevalent then needed in Daggerfall)was cut out, you could still have Daggerfall.
In fact, it would look just like Daggerfall.

Compare:
This and this.

The graphics in both games are similar, in fact, maybe a Daggerfall on the DS could run better than on the modern system.

Your take?

Well - I think they should atleast revive Daggerfall/Arena onto a portable game console, such as the DS (or preferably the PSP).

It would give so much more to the TES series. But considering how hard Daggerfall is to find now, I think Bethseda would truly benefit from this, probably making alot of money from the hardcore RPG market. I know, if released for the PSP, i wouldn't hesitate to buy the game.

The portable game console market has, to put it weakly, lacking in some great games lately, (yeah ok the New GTA, Crisis core, etc etc are good games, but they never really felt my needs). I think the old looks of daggerfall would be great of the psp, i would hate it if bethseda would give it a new look, this makes the new PSP games look a bit.. tacky.

The 'Travels' games are weak, and have not been given much attention, Bethseda SHOULD definately think about releasing something on a main Portable market, before/after the release of the new TES.
It's a great idea kestral, and although it may sound silly or daft, if i were you, i would actually consider contacting Bethseda with this idea, obviously put a little planning and preparation to make it stand out from the other emails bethseda would get.

If you dont conact Bethseda - i will :P .

well it is certainly doable on the DS but maybe they could release both arena and daggerfall on one UMD on the psp but keeping the same graphics (since the UMD holds a gig more than the cards a DS uses) or just have daggerfall on one umd with upated graphics, altthough i think it would be easier to control on the DS

That sounds pretty cool. I would buy it. I would think that they'd have to update some of it (I believe that there was nudity in the original), and they could possibly update the graphics a little (make the sprites more defined)

IMO, it should only be rereleased for the PC, XBOX 360 and the PS3.

But it MUST be rereleased! We Want It Bethesda! NOW!
Even though Daggerfalls graphics aren't the best, I still want it badly.
Doin my own, thang, and if you got a problem with that
Then the nina go bang, bang, and I'll be everywhere on the map - but

No, not for the pc/360/ps3.

The work behind reviving the graphics to the current generation would take alone more work than TES V probably. On the DS, they would only need a minor fix and a conversion. Although I am not really onto coding, so you tell me.

And you have no idea how hard it is to get Morrowind GOTY in Portugal. I found a free-shipping online store in the UK, with a pretty good price. But my parents don't buy over the net. =/

It would be great for the PSP. But I am fine with it just being on the PC for now.

If you swing the sword yourself in the DS just like you do on the PC, then no. Lose that swing it yourself crap and just go with R is swing sword whichever way the game rolls for it or something like that.

Err, I've got a better idea. Update the graphics, the engine, and the people and keep it on the PC and port it to the PS3 and the 360. I'd love to tackle the endless terrain with a high-end PC and a bowl of cheetos on my desk.

[offtopic]They made the puffy kind of cheetos big, and they suck. Anyone agree? :P[/offtopic]

Doing that would make Daggerfall more pricey than 30$ if it wasn't for the DS, but then again, this idea seems kinda stupid now that Daggerfall is free.

Pricey? Well, not if you... wait... nevermind. Not good. :P

But then you can exercise a freedom that many people around the globe have - to work, and receive pay for working. This is a very popular method of gathering riches in most capitalist countries. This can also open the doors to buying other necessities like internet and video games.

I've seen specialized carts that can hold 2 GB, Daggerfall is about a quarter of that size.

The Ds would be best suited for the click and drag attacking. I think it could be possible, albeit a lot of work.

well you wont be able to move and turn at the same time as attacking on the DS if you think about it, unless they change the gameplay engine slightly

That would actually be a great idea. It would be a bit of work to make it work on the DS perfectly, but considering it's a bit of a hassle to play it on a modern PC, $30 for a DS game wouldn't be too bad of an idea.

Unfortunately, I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

Bethseda would be scared to put it on the DS because of how easy it is to pirate games
