Amantius Allectus was killed in a burglary. It must be true, because I heard it straight from the most credible eyewitness there is— Amantius himself...

It's amazing just how far a character can go in the Elder Scrolls universe. When escaped convicts can save the Empire from disaster and become celebrated heroes, it's also possible for an innkeeper from Vvardenfell to pick up enough on the secrets of magic to eventually become an Arcane University instructor.
