Stupid moments

Post by bas237 »

When I first installed Shivering Isles I went to that big statue on that island and heard Sheogorath's voice saying something like "I need a Champion".

I always thought that this meant that you had to be a Champion. So: Champion rank in the Arena.

So I did almost the entire arena to achieve that rank and then finally went through the gate.

A few days later I made a new character and I first did the entire arena before moving into the Shivering Isles.

A few months later I found out that you can always enter the Shivering Isles, even if you're a complete noob ;) which was precisely how I felt at that time.

What are your stupid moments?

I took great pains to avoid those scary-looking knights on horseback the first night I broke out of the Imperial Prison. Thought they were agents of the enemy hunting me down like some ripoff of a Ringwraith.

Imagine my reaction when, seeking shelter at the lamplight of Roxey Inn, I come face-to-face with one of them and get a welcome greeting instead of a sword to the neck.

Apart from thinking you had access to the stores 'warehouses', I don't remember any stupid moment in particular.

Although thinking I could steal from any shop and then running away is stupid enough.

It happened to me that after I satrted that corrupted imperial watch quest, a watch comes and asks me to pay 'the fine'. (I stole in front of a storekeeper) I thought it was that watch and I said I would not pay the fine.

Took me a while to figure out that I had been caught stealing lol.

when I started (as a redguard+knight class) I thought I was very good but then I started a quest in anvil (the one when you have to retrieve a crystal ball in a ship) I found out I wasn't, so it all ended with me running away from the ship, ghosts chasing me and guards chasing the ghosts. I was much more careful after that

When I was doing the Benirus Manor mission in Anvil, I was SO scared  . I was so scared that I was sneaking around the house and I knocked something over and on screen I actually jumped back and ran out of the house.

I'm so cool. 8)

In the main quest, you know how the Blades guy says you can take a certain horse from Weynon Priory? Well, I thought that meant ANY horse. So here I go headed off to an oblivion gate [the first one] and I get off the horse to talk to somebody. When I got back on, however, they began attacking me! Then I realized that I had technically STOLEN the horse.

One of my less...intelligent moments was on the plains of Oblivion. I charged straight into a pack of 3 Xivilai, and managed to kill them all but only after losing most of my life. Relieved, I stood still for a moment, relishing the fight...

...when I realized, a bit too slowly, I was standing next to a Harrada...

...and got to watch my character die because of a friggin' PLANT.

I misread the 'You can move faster if you sheathe your weapons' menu as;

'You can move faster if you sheathe your s***'

I was thinking ?!?! O_o until I saw that it said weapons.

Lol :)

I've had a lot of stupid moments ;)

- About a year ago (total playing time: 400hours, characters: 15+, with 11 of them I have beaten the Main Quest) I was reading some articles on UESP.net and then I saw that you GET A STATUE DURING THE MAIN QUEST! I thought: WTF? I had completed the Main Quest 11 times and I had never realised that you receive a statue at some point. I always walked straight past it ;)

- When I was doing the DB questline and Lachance was killed, I didn't realised it was him :) I realised it some days later and I was so shocked :p

- Just like Coulsonji I was scared to death when those ghosts came in Anvil Manor :)

- When I closed my first Oblivion gate I managed to free that Imperial Guard from his cage and I dropped him all the way down on those spikes. Don't know how I did it :) a bug perhaps.
So when I closed that gate with another character I spent almost an hour trying to do it again. Without success of course. And still I don't know how I succeeded in it the first time :)

- When I did the tutorial for the first time I fought for over 30 minutes in that last area where Uriel Septim dies against Mythic Dawn agents, I killed over 100 of them, and I didn't seem to hear one of those Blades saying that I had to protect the emperor :)

On my very first game I didn't know how to go into 3rd person so I played in first person. At the very end of the tutorial I found out hoe to change the view. When I clicked that button I saw something. I had gone through the entire tutorial without any pants on.
Well wrap me around your neck and call me a pedant.

One time I was following a sneaking NPC just to see what he was up to. And the hunt led me in between some houses, then I lost the sight of him and decided to do something else. When I come out on the street there was another NPC just around the corner, which I wasn't prepared for. So my reaction was to jump, the silly thing was that I accidentally hit the E-button on the same time. Which made my character jump a few meters up in the air. She must have looked like a real chicken...
