Spoiler:
I joined the big battle late, but technically I still took part in the big battle, therefore I' entitled to my level up, right ? If that's the case then I'll choose One-Handed as well.

Spoiler:
Deandra, what do you think is the best way of making them less effective? I agree that they should be less effective, but for different reasons as well as the one cited.

I was doing some number crunching while reading the wiki, after I found in Skyrim that NPC cast wards stopped player cast Paralyse and pacify spells, and it turns out that numerically a Skyrim Lesser ward could stop Oblivion's strongest base game command humanoid spell - possibly preventing a fade to black moment with Alandier *shudder* or being forced to fight against other fighter's guild people, so I thought i should query it.

If it helps your descision, if my dunmer was to cast lesser ward to stop a charm or command humanoid spell, she has about 2 and a half seconds of safety, which will be about the same for everyone, since lesser ward is a novice spell, and everyone has at least 80 magicka.

What I would change if I was in your position was make wards not have any armour bonus and at least halve their power, so that to block Dominate Humanoid (Oblivion's expert level base command humanoid spell) requires greater ward, the most powerful ward, and one my character doesn't have enough magicka to cast at all, let alone for enough time to protect herself - i.e. make it so there is no way to escape Alandier...(No offfence intended Musicman)

Note: I didn't put this in a PM because potentially everyone could benefit from the answer, so I thought it best to ask in thread.

ETA - If you think I'm overthinking this I'll stop and stick to using restoration for self healing and healing others.

Spoiler:
Pretty obvious that Alandier is going to choose to upgrade his Illusion. He'd also like to enchant his gloves with either Fortify Health or Resist Normal Weapons, but the lack of enchanting alter is discouraging.
Alandier approached Simande from behind. "Is there any chance of being able to enchant something before heading to the cave again?" he asked.

Uhh, I think Blade. Gotta put the Sprigganblade to good use.
Andreo nodded slowly, not daring to break her gaze. I'm sorry I failed, he thought. "I suppose." he said.

Spoiler:
Velvet, did you mean Blade? You don't have one-handed as a skill, and getting both would be redundant.

CBR, number crunching won't help you much in this RP. Nobody has magicka points. Nobody has armor points. Spells don't have discrete names and power levels. It's more like a story, and less like software.

Your character can't cast Lesser Ward or Greater Ward. Your character can cast a ward, and depending on how tired they are and how much they can focus, that ward can be medium strength or it can be pretty ineffective. Your character can try to focus all of their power into defending against spells, leaving them wholly vulnerable to physical attacks, or you could treat it as an impractical alternative to a shield spell and have your character focus all of their efforts on blocking arrows and blades.

But no matter how you end up using them, ward spells are going to suck up a lot (if not all) of your magicka, and they'll be prone to outright failure.
"Actually, I can help you with that," Mercator said to Alandier. The steward waited patiently until Valeronicia was done with her books and her armor, and then gestured to the stairs that led out of the dungeon. "Come, follow me."

Spoiler:
Ohh, hand to hand, please!
Llythanda only stood there. She frowned the smallest bit, a subtle turning at the corner of her lips, and then, not sure what else to say, started forward. But she paused a few steps in, close enough to Andreo that their words would not be overheard. "I am a Redoran," she finally said, her voice but a whisper, "even when my mind is not my own." She looked at him from the corner of her vision, an apology just on the edge of her tongue for the danger her attempted rescue caused him, but instead she let her red gaze turn forward. "There is work to do," she insisted, and continued on toward Vitellus.

Andreo stopped her, his hand on her shoulder. He opened his mouth to say something... But, still, no words. He gave her a quick squeeze, before releasing her, hoping she understood. "Yeah." he said.

Alandier hugged his Dunmer half-sister close and kissed her cheek, barely remembering the other Dunmer he had had recently. What was her name? Llanda? Leilah? Elyntine? he thought.

As soon as Galras had finished the remained of his ale, Severio stood up. "Well friend, you go and fetch Patricius." He said with a small smile. "I'll stay here and wait on your return, I'm sure I'll find some way to amuse myself." He gave the Bosmer a sly smile before glancing up at the comely barmaid. "Now make haste, try and make it back within the hour."

Necromancers
Mercator led the necromancers out of the dungeon and into a small, cramped storeroom filled with barrels, crates and boxes. He pushed a crate away from a tall arched niche in the wall, and then he pulled a stone brick away from the niche's trim. With a low grinding rumble, the wall behind the niche slid to the side, revealing a doorway down a narrow hallway.

The steward cast a light spell and led them down the hallway into a small octagonal room with no windows. Besides the musty smell, there was another odor, one familiar to everybody in the room--that of death and decay. Mercator quickly lit several candles that were arranged on a work surface. On the back wall was a large work table, and elsewhere the walls were lined with shelves holding potions, large glass jars of ingredients and preserved body parts, books, scrolls and tools.

And in the center of the room was an enchanting altar.

"I trust you have the supplies you need?" the steward asked.

The West Weald Inn
Galras left a few coins on the table for his ale, ignoring what Severio had said about paying for it, and nodded at his friend before leaving the inn.

"Is there anything else I can do for you?" the barmaid asked Severio.

Severio picked the money up, quickly counted it and then turned to the barmaid, a broad, friendly smile on his face. "I would just like to pay for our drink's and perhaps rent a room here if you have any available." He replied benignantly, taking a step closer to her. "And once again I would like to apologise for that impudent Imperial's idiocy."

The barmaid took the money and smiled. "Let me go ask which rooms we have available," she said and walked to the innkeeper standing at the bar. A moment later she returned, and with a friendly smile, said, "Let me take you to your room. It's a nice one, with a great view and its own balcony!"
