I already mentioned the inclusion of gunpowder as a game-ender for me. The exclusion of vampires would seriously dissapoint me, but not ruin it.

They still published it. They weren't entirely indifferent to it.Rat Kiosk wrote:Bethesda didn't even make New Vegas.Haravikk wrote:What was wrong with New Vegas? Aside from the monumental number of bugs it was a decent game, I didn't like it as much as Fallout 3 but the sheer freedom offered in a lot of quests with multiple, important endings, was hardly a bad thing! Indeed, the handling of factions and quest options was very well done, I just wish it hadn't resulted in practically every quest having major bugs in it, thank Mehrunes Dagon for the Fallout wikia for documenting them all!Glaedr95 wrote:Making the game a crap as they did with Fallout New Vegas (I dont even consider this Fallout a game... for me it's a great pile of s$%&)
If anything the main complaint aside from the bugs that I hope won't make an appearance in Skyrim is the fact that nearly every quest had quest-markers pointing to everything you need to do… even in quests where you're supposed to be doing some investigation of your own! I can understand that sometimes these quests can be tricky in a free-form environment where it can be easy to miss a clue, but quest-markers weren't the right way to handle it, better to have NPCs who can give further hints if you get stuck.
Bethesda made Fallout 3 which we all agree was good. So... Whats your point glaedr?

Betshade published IC and you dont see them blaming themmars wrote:They still published it. They weren't entirely indifferent to it.

Bethesda haven't blamed Keyes for anything as far as I know.Wolfie wrote:Betshade published IC and you dont see them blaming themmars wrote:They still published it. They weren't entirely indifferent to it.
they blame the guy who wrote it=, its the way the world works saidly

no pepole blame keyes for the book and say he rueined the worldmars wrote: Bethesda haven't blamed Keyes for anything as far as I know.

Ah. Well those are opinions. I'm not overly fond of his writing either but I don't blame him for the plot. Bethesda wants it to be like this. Or so I think.Wolfie wrote:no pepole blame keyes for the book and say he rueined the worldmars wrote: Bethesda haven't blamed Keyes for anything as far as I know.
I'm talking about all the "This is keyes fault threads

This is getting off topic and bit and doesn't address the question of; what exactly is it people don't like about New Vegas? If there are things people didn't like then they're perfectly relevant to Skyrim as things we'd like to see Bethesda avoid, whether they made the game or not. But Glaedr95 just swore at New Vegas without giving any details as to what was bad about, while personally I think that for all its faults it does have quite a few good elements, such as factions and faction disguises, and a wide array of quest completion options for example. So there are plenty of things that Bethesda could just as easily learn from New Vegas, as while Fallout 3 was really good, it has faults of its own such as how linear a lot of the quests were; didn't make them bad but these games are all about being who you want and doing things your own way.mars wrote:They still published [Fallout: New Vegas]. Everything you list is a technical issue; many of them are fixed already, and what's left is a pretty good game, still buggy as hell but I very much doubt that Bethesda has "make Skyrim as unplayable as possible" as a design goal. So while I think it's obviously very warranted to complain about New Vegas' bugginess it isn't really right to point to it as something Bethesda shouldn't look to at all, as it does a lot of things very well such as factions, disguises, branching or intertwined quests and so-on.Glaedr95 wrote:Now, you want me to point what is wrong with the game? Seriously?? I couldn't play for more than 30 minutes without falling into the floor or seeing a weird guy floating and shaking his head.

So, levitation shouldn't be in Skyrim because ... you're homophobic? Yeah, that makes sense.lostlast wrote:Levitation sucked so bad, they already did the best thing for it in Oblivion,.... removed it. It made Morrowind so super gay, when I hadn't played it for a while it would go out and hook up with dudes.Minor Edits wrote:If they announced there would be no levitation, I may end up turning my back on it. At least some sort of flying may convince me to grudgingly buy it used, but levitation would be preferable.

Spell creation returns, but not in the same way. From what limited details we have, you use soul gems to create spells.iamdanthemanstan wrote:We don't have many real details yet and everyone is busy discussing what they hope will be in the game, but let me ask you this: What announcement could make you feel that the game was no longer worth getting? For me it would be if they removed spell making which has long been one of my favorite features, actually one of my biggest complaints about Oblivion is that they made you do so much to get it.

"Push the hardware" simply means they had to invest a lot of work into getting the game engine to produce the results they want.Minor Edits wrote:^Being overly ambitious could ruin it. I get kind of nervous when they start talking about how they have "pushed the hardware." I don't really want a game that "pushes the hardware," if that's just developer double-speak for "the game will crash frequently, suffer huge loading times and pause a lot after one or two hundred hours have been invested in it."

Have you not played previous elder scrolls titles? You have to be staggered - regardless of flames. If you could just cast flames on everyone, and they'd run around screaming, everyone would just be a mage and it'd be too easy.Shadowscale wrote:They could ruin this game for me by having the npc's ignore damage and have no reaction to being hit like in the 5 minute trailer we see the dragon breathing fire at the guard who basicaly keeps firing arrows even though there is a roaring flame being spewed all over him
