I already mentioned the inclusion of gunpowder as a game-ender for me. The exclusion of vampires would seriously dissapoint me, but not ruin it.

What was wrong with New Vegas? Aside from the monumental number of bugs it was a decent game, I didn't like it as much as Fallout 3 but the sheer freedom offered in a lot of quests with multiple, important endings, was hardly a bad thing! Indeed, the handling of factions and quest options was very well done, I just wish it hadn't resulted in practically every quest having major bugs in it, thank Mehrunes Dagon for the Fallout wikia for documenting them all!

If anything the main complaint aside from the bugs that I hope won't make an appearance in Skyrim is the fact that nearly every quest had quest-markers pointing to everything you need to do… even in quests where you're supposed to be doing some investigation of your own! I can understand that sometimes these quests can be tricky in a free-form environment where it can be easy to miss a clue, but quest-markers weren't the right way to handle it, better to have NPCs who can give further hints if you get stuck.
Bethesda didn't even make New Vegas.
Bethesda made Fallout 3 which we all agree was good. So... Whats your point glaedr?
They still published it. They weren't entirely indifferent to it.

Ah. Well those are opinions. I'm not overly fond of his writing either but I don't blame him for the plot. Bethesda wants it to be like this. Or so I think.

This is getting off topic and bit and doesn't address the question of; what exactly is it people don't like about New Vegas? If there are things people didn't like then they're perfectly relevant to Skyrim as things we'd like to see Bethesda avoid, whether they made the game or not. But Glaedr95 just swore at New Vegas without giving any details as to what was bad about, while personally I think that for all its faults it does have quite a few good elements, such as factions and faction disguises, and a wide array of quest completion options for example. So there are plenty of things that Bethesda could just as easily learn from New Vegas, as while Fallout 3 was really good, it has faults of its own such as how linear a lot of the quests were; didn't make them bad but these games are all about being who you want and doing things your own way.

Call me a jerk if you want... I really thought that New Vegas was developed by Bethesda because its logo is on the box (sorry about that).

Now, you want me to point what is wrong with the game? Seriously?? I couldn't play for more than 30 minutes without falling into the floor or seeing a weird guy floating and shaking his head.

I couldn't even reach to a certain town (don't remember the name) without my game crashing!!!

And you ask me what's wrong?! WHAT'S WRONG?!

Man, I don't want to discuss this... this is getting offtopic. If you don't mind to turn down your PS3 system, PC or whatever, every 3-5 hours because of the freezings or if you don't mind the moonwalking dogs, the flying heads (or another one of the dozen bugs you enconter every 5 minutes), buy New Vegas and have fun.

I know, I know... New Vegas is awesome, I'm the jerk, you guys are the man.

You're not a jerk. Those are just opinions. I also didn't find NV to be very fun. I'm glad I didn't buy it. But there's no need to continue this here. We've got a discussion thread for Fallout.
@Wolfie: NV is tremendously buggy. More so than any Bethesda developed game. I encountered 3 bugs within my first 5 minutes.

Sorry about the emphasize I gave to it.

Sorry Wolfie, Mars and all others.

Now, lets get on-topic.

PLEASE BETHESDA, give me good average FPS in all parts of the game (you may think I'm a framerate fanatic, but I really think that this factor has a huge importance).

Release the DLCs on PS3 :D and make some good dungeons, towns and, definetely, beautiful landscapes.

If Bethesda don't do this, it's certainly halfway to ruin :P (just kidding, the most important fact is the gameplay which I haven't mentioned).

Everything you list is a technical issue; many of them are fixed already, and what's left is a pretty good game, still buggy as hell but I very much doubt that Bethesda has "make Skyrim as unplayable as possible" as a design goal. So while I think it's obviously very warranted to complain about New Vegas' bugginess it isn't really right to point to it as something Bethesda shouldn't look to at all, as it does a lot of things very well such as factions, disguises, branching or intertwined quests and so-on.

When I RP in Oblivion, spell creation is an important part of character development. One of my self-imposed rules is that my mages must create all of their own spells with the IC reasoning that a spell created by someone else would be less powerful. When my characters finally succeed in making the spells they need there is a sense of achievement I'm not going to get from throwing gold at Edgar Vautrine. Spell creation is also an important part of character customization for me. Example: an evil Argonian who uses magicka to roast his victims to death, then heals himself by devouring their flesh. This is implemented with a fire + absorb health spell.

With that said, if spell creation is not included in Skyrim there's a good chance I won't buy it. It's one of the features that make TES games a cut above the rest. If I want pre-defined fantasy characters and cookie cutter roleplay, I already have DA2 for that. :P

Levitation sucked so bad, they already did the best thing for it in Oblivion,.... removed it. It made Morrowind so super gay, when I hadn't played it for a while it would go out and hook up with dudes.
So, levitation shouldn't be in Skyrim because ... you're homophobic? Yeah, that makes sense. :|

Floating around Vvardenfell is one of my favorite videogame memories. You may disagree with how it was implemented in that game, but the concept hardly "sucks." Anyways, judging by the interest shown by the fanbase, you're in a small minority.

There is no possible way they could ruin it, after seeing the gameplay, except by never releasing it.
iamdanthemanstan wrote:We don't have many real details yet and everyone is busy discussing what they hope will be in the game, but let me ask you this: What announcement could make you feel that the game was no longer worth getting? For me it would be if they removed spell making which has long been one of my favorite features, actually one of my biggest complaints about Oblivion is that they made you do so much to get it.
Spell creation returns, but not in the same way. From what limited details we have, you use soul gems to create spells.

^Being overly ambitious could ruin it. I get kind of nervous when they start talking about how they have "pushed the hardware." I don't really want a game that "pushes the hardware," if that's just developer double-speak for "the game will crash frequently, suffer huge loading times and pause a lot after one or two hundred hours have been invested in it."

"Push the hardware" simply means they had to invest a lot of work into getting the game engine to produce the results they want.

^We hope. They "pushed the hardware" with Oblivion and it suffered from those problems; there's no guarantee that they won't take Skyrim too far to be enjoyable.

They could ruin this game for me by having the npc's ignore damage and have no reaction to being hit like in the 5 minute trailer we see the dragon breathing fire at the guard who basicaly keeps firing arrows even though there is a roaring flame being spewed all over him :|

Push the hardware was the wrong way of stating it, he should have said "pushing our abilities" for had they done that we could have had skyrim three years ago and oblivion would have looked alot better.

Have you not played previous elder scrolls titles? You have to be staggered - regardless of flames. If you could just cast flames on everyone, and they'd run around screaming, everyone would just be a mage and it'd be too easy.
