Joining the blades

I just noticed 3/4 through the main quest that I am not a Blades members. I noticed when I tried to sleep in a bed at Cloud Ruler temple and it said I cant sleep in a owned bed. ANd then I saw it wasn't listed in my faction list. Is there a way to still join the blades or is it a one time deal and I am screwed? Funny thing is I never remember Jauffre ever asking me to join because I know I would not of ever said No. Don't know how I missed on this one.

At the end of the Weynon Priory Quest, at Cloud Ruler Temple.

Jauffre will offer you membership into the Blades, which will give you access to the books, armor, and weapons inside the temple. After you make a decision about membership, Jauffre will give you your next quest.

It's not necessary to join the Blades in order to continue with the main quest. If you later change your mind, you can just talk to Jauffre again and choose the topic "Join the Blades". On the other hand, there really aren't any reasons not to join the Blades; by not joining, you lose out on all the free stuff available at Cloud Ruler Temple.

I couldn't find a reference, but I think that your Personality has to be 60 for you to join, or for him to offer. That may be why he did not offer. If he offers, you can refuse, but join later. Not sure if he doesn't offer, because of low Personallity, if he will offer it then, or if you can ask to join.

Jauffre doesnt give me the "Join The Blades" option in his dialogue. My personality currently is 51. So I bought a fortify personality and got it up to 71 and it still didnt show up. I wonder if I never talked to Jauffre after we returned to Cloud Ruler temple from Weynon Priory and since we continued through the quests it was lost? I dunno. I would hate for it to be a bug in my game, this would really irritate me.

personality has no effect on this. i have a char with 30 personality who is now a knight-brother of the blades. I think Jormungand is right, but it seems odd, since you get your next quest of the main quest line (being the one after cloud ruler temple) from Jauffre. Then you would speak to him, and he would offer it to you. The problem of not being able to join the blades may be a bug.

However, I do recall there being two beds in Cloud Ruler which you cant sleep in. The bedrolls are fine, but the beds are reserved for Martin and Jauffre. This might be the problem. You mightve tried sleeping in one of these and then overlooked the Blades faction. Then again, this seems very unlikely to me.
so my bet is that it IS a bug.

Ya I did try sleeping in the bedrolls, not the actual beds of Martin and Jauffre. Looks like I am screwed. He wont ask me to join the blades.

It might not be a bug. It might just be that if you don't ask after the quest, it doesn't offer again.

I wish I could find where I read it. I'm pretty sure it said you had to have a certain Personality, or maybe fame. That's why I always use a charm spell before I talk to Jauffre.

iattacked maritin many times in cloud ruler temple while he was giving a speech and jaffre never asked me if i wanted to join the blade
