Help, please, if anyone still plays this game

Post by anemic_royaltea »

So, I fired up Daggerfall for the first time in a loooong time the other day - Very sweet, very cool, yeah.

but, after applying the xp patch or whatever it is, there's just one more thing.

Since the resolution is so bad, and since the game itself is so old, i've been trying desperately to get it to run in a window while i have other things going.

I haven't been able to by setting properties or adding -w to the command line.

anyone have any suggestions?

Daggerfall can't run in a window to my knowledge.

If you want it in a window you'll need to use DOSBox. DOSBox also allows you to somewhat smooth the visuals, but there is a BIG overhead compared to running the game straight in Windows itself.

If your PC can handle Oblivion it should handle Daggerfall under DOSBox just fine.

No, I generally find that older gamers who grew up with games that had content and gameplay, not just flashy graphics, love games like this. I personally have several friends who started with Morrowind and have since bought used copies of DF and complain that it is too hard. Modern gamers for you.
