So, Skyrim players, has anyone played this mod? Is it as good as they say it is?

Create Your Own Home
I heard that this mod had legendary status - and everyone on the Nexus has told me it beats Hearthfire to the ground. I'm not sure if I feel like downloading it, though, because I'm not terribly into house mods... or houses. I'd be willing to make an exception, however, if the mod was as spectacular as they say.

Re: Create Your Own Home
If I'm thinking of the right mod, I don't think it was too bad. I actually prefer the Hearthfire homes, but there are some features from the mod on the Nexus that I would have liked to see in Hearthfire. Mainly the option for Daedra worship and having a nice Vampire or Werewolf themed hidden lair.
The Build Your Own Home house is small, but that's alright if you prefer smaller homes. It was more customizable (with three themes to choose from, and the ability to pick different themes per upstairs or downstairs) and (I think, it's been a while since I've used it) you could also remove the decorations and change the theme of the section of house. A feature that Hearthfire lacks... And sorely needs.
It also had a massive sprawling outdoor complex over the waterfalls that included a brewery, an alchemy garden, a training area, a smithy, and a watch tower. The only problem I had with that was that the sheer number of insects tended to make my computer lag. Though I suspect that's a problem that those with newer PC's won't have.
I also found that the mod was less glitchy than Bethesda's Hearthfire DLC. All I ever suffered was the odd crash; never did I suffered the glitches that I've had in the Hearthfire homes.
All in all, the mod was okay, but it's something I can do without. Actually deleted it a while back to try and reduce the number of mods I'm running.
I still prefer Hearthfire though since it adds new materials, ingredients, and food and whatnot.

I've played it fairly extensively and I enjoyed it thoroughly, although searching for materials can be as much of a pain as in Hearthfire. The house is quite customisable, and the location is fairly good too. As a free alternative to Hearthfire, I feel it is more than comparable.

I downloaded it a while back to take a look at it. It seemed nice enough. I didn't keep it of course. But there is no harm in downloading it to take a look yourself. If it isn't for you, just uninstall it again.

I also think there is no harm in downloading. If you want to check then install it and have a look into it.
