Re: Redguard Rumors
About the FO4 interfering with development for Skyrim stuff, Bethesda is a large company. More than likely they have completely separate teams for FO and ES games. Much like work on Starcraft 2 expansions doesn't effect work on Diablo 3 expansions, or WoW content. Completely separate teams working on separate games. That being said, it is possible that, given how old the trademark is, Redguard could have been a possible DLC for oblivion that was scrapped in favor of increased work on Skyrim, and that they have kept the trademark because they are still tossing around how to get their idea into an actual DLC

Re: Redguard Rumors
Oblivion DLC? I'm not sure about that. I think Shivering Isles and KOTN were the only major DLC they had lined up given the work they had to do with FO3 and when the thing was originally trademarked.

Re: Redguard Rumors
Alright, seriously. I said that the language used in the new Redguard patent being filed is identical to the language found in previous Skyrim DLC patents. Don't believe me? First of all, here is the full description of the newest Redguard patent: "Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices."
And now here are some links:
Dawnguard:
http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/17 ... ion-starts
quote: "computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices".
Dragonborn:
http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f= ... d1hpee.2.1
quote: "Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices."
And just so you guys won't be all "but those descriptions could apply to any games!!", here is the description for the original Skyrim patent by Bethesda:
http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f= ... d1hpee.3.4
quote: "Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles. FIRST USE: 20111111. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 20111111" NOTE - the description does not include the second phrase about downloadable content. I rest my case.

That is not the full description. Read the paragraph below. It contains a description that is not found on Dawnguard, Hearthfire or Dragonborn's trademarks.

Post a link then, because from what I can see, the latest filing was March 2011. That trademark contains the description I posted.Razz wrote: That is not the most recent patent. Check the dates.

The same team developed Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim. Some members left and many more came along during that process. A few are even left over from Morrowind and earlier (Todd Howard and Kurt Kuhlmann prominently.) That's the core development team that handles the flagship series of the company. There won't be a Fallout 4 without Todd Howard's team.
I've never heard of Niudla or a history of Daedra interaction in Hammerfell, but Sword Singing is well-established lore.ZackyZombify wrote:"You travel to Hammerfell and learn the ancient art of sword singing then you travel out into the desert and slay the evil Daedra monster , Niudla."

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: Redguard Rumors
imo a redgaurd themed dlc makes the most sense considering that in the lore the redgaurds beat back and are still fighting the dominion. Also ever since dawnguard released people have been asking for locales with "less snow."

This has potential, but I can't really see it happening. Although the expansion on the lore of Yokuda and sword singing would be pretty interesting.ZackyZombify wrote:"You travel to Hammerfell and learn the ancient art of sword singing then you travel out into the desert and slay the evil Daedra monster , Niudla."

To me, re-posting what some random person on the internet says does not make the most reliable evidence.

Re: Redguard Rumors
I'm not saying it's evidence. That's why I named it "Redguard rumors" because they're rumors, all of it is. There won't be evidence of anything until the ps3/pc drama is dealt with. And when evidence is shown it will most likely contradict everything in this thread. Pretty much fueling people up so they can satisfy their hunger for speculation for the next dlc.

Both dawnguard and dragon born were "confirmed" due to files found in preliminary patches. Once this happens lets talk

The legal wording is supposed to cover all possibilities, not any one given possibility. It could even be as general as a category which the item being trademarked falls into, but may not fill entirely itself.CBR JGWRR wrote:Agreed. Re: Redguard Rumors
I don't know about this DLC.
Part of me wants to be negative and just dismiss it as a rumor and tell people to stop talking about since it's unlikely that's what it's about.
But then again I've been proven wrong about the last two DLC's and what they were about, so I wouldn't be surprised if a Redguard DLC does come out.
That being said I'm on the fence, until we get more information I can't say what it'd be about. I mean logically I'd assume something thalmor related seeing as how that's really the only memorable event that's happened recently to the country.
But then again it's not 'magical' enough, you know? Most main quests in TES be it the main game or DLC has some prophetic hero/villain contrast or magic involved in it.
Like for example, Civil war, Companions, Dark Brotherhood, purely political. Whereas in every TES title and a majority of DLC's the villain is some divine being, either Daedra, a God, or Demi-God. And their plan revolves around using dark magic or etc. to rule the world.
So based on the series track record I'd be very surprised if it actually was political.

Re: Redguard Rumors
Would rather see Orisinium. I think that it's small enough to not allow it to be a proper game, but large enough to be a DLC.

Rumor: Blacklight. Villian: Sload "Gortwog". Not likely, nor do I know what a Sload is as I haven't played any ES besides IV & V.

one of them appeared in the game ''Redguard''
also, wasnt the founder of Orsinium called Gortwog ?
sounds pretty unlikely.

Re: Redguard Rumors
Sload are slug-people, talented in magic, and extremely good at necromancy in particular. Note that the wiki here doesn't say whether they're actually emotionless or just have a different kind of emotional life from other Tamriel Nirn denizens. I'd check the source, but it doesn't appear to be given. Also remember that Argonians are sometimes thought to be emotionless, while it's actually just that they don't express emotions like others do.
Sload soap is made from baby sloads. Don't worry, they aren't sentient.

Re: Redguard Rumors
The Sloads have no affiliation with Tamriel, they aren't citizens and have tried to be eradicated by both the Empire and Altmers.
They (to me) are the most fascinating aspect of TES left, I'd much more rather see a full game or large DLC surrounding them and Thras. I mean come on, a 16 island archipelago filled with the Undead. I'd have a Wind Waker feel to it, so long as they allowed sea travel.
I mean technically they could make it larger than Skyrim, the Islands themselves (added together) could be half the size of skyrim or Solstheim.
The original Redguard had you play as a sea faring merc who faced off against a Sload so it's not too far off. Hell I'd take a remake of Redguard as a DLC.
