Problems installing MGSO 3.0

So after I upgraded my PC (my old one was from around 2007) I thought I might give MGSO another try now that version 3.0 is out. I am now running on Win 7 Professional (x64) and constantly have problems with the installation. All prerequisites are installed correctly (checked everything multiple times) and I tried it on multiple clean steam versions of Morrowind GotY. The game is not installed near any Windows stuff so that shouldn't be a problem too. The installer always crashes during the MGE part. It says MGEGui stops working and there's also a pop up window for 2-3 seconds telling me the installer found old distant land files (which can't be true). Obviously I ran the installer as administrator.
Do you guys have any idea how I can solve this problem?

Yep, I changed all MGSO files to be run both as administrator and in compatibility mode (chose Win XP SP3 because that worked on my old PC).
My last "idea" how to fix this would be to install it on my fathers PC (Win XP, it definitely works on that PC) and then copy and paste it via USB stick to my PC. Though I might get some problems with the differences because only my PC is a x64 system.

I though I would only copy the MGSO parts. This way I should be clear of any errors with Steam or Windows.

This happened to me too.

What I did was restart that section of the install then hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the task manager, which releases the mouse. I then just ran that part manually. When it finished the installer continued and finished.
