Post by Gudovac »

Even on the best graphical settings i can still see grass spawning relatively close to me..it kills the game experience...

I need mods to see further or something similar. Ty

you might need more RAM if the processor can't access the information with ease this causes problems like this

It's not his hardware, that's just how the game is made.

There might be a setting in the .ini file you could tweak, I don't know though.

You could play abit with these ini settings:

fGrassEndDistance=3000.0000
fGrassStartFadeDistance=2000.0000

These are the default values.
I used to play Oblivion, then I took an arrow in the knee.

Put it so that the End is higher and the start is lower :D

Thats the start of the fading of the grass so if you make that lower the grass will appear faded even closer and you can't garuntee its not the hardware.

so if you make them both 0, grass will be placed ALL over Cyrodiil at the same time... but the lag will be insane (talking aout 1 fph [Frames Per Hour])

Press tilde (~) to open the console, the type tg for toggle grass (turns if off/on). That's what I do. I find grass appearing ten feet in front of you annoying, and it doesn't look bad with it turned off, so..

This might provide way more information than you want. But, it is a comprehensive guide to Oblivion optimization. Grass settings are discussed somewhere in this guide.
