How do you relax?
Let's face it, we all get stressed out and pushed to our physical and mental limits. No one here is a robot (except maybe AKB). So when you do reach your breaking point and feel like going berserk, how do you destress and relax? Is it a good book to loose yourself in, or perhaps you like the more violent nature and turn to a gory video game to vent all that pent up rage from your boss at helpless pixels?
How do you relax?
Personally, I write. Whether it be scrawling on paper to get an idea down before I loose it or the slow and tedious time of making my words art with calligraphy, writing calms me. Especially writing calligraphy. The naturally slow nature of the art forces me to slow down and pay attention to each individual character, thereby driving any other thought out of my head. Or at least, it had better, or I'll be making loads of typos.
Other than writing, I like playing casual games, such as Bejeweled Twist, which I have recently become sucked into. I do not appreciate violence in video games, and casual games like Bejeweled Twist or Zuma offer a violence free environment. Plus, and let's face it, every body loves a good explosion, and Bejeweled Twist is chock full of them. I said I didn't like violence, not that which is violent.

Re: How do you relax?
Hmm how I relax. Two ways really. I love to play the drums, and pounding my anger or frustration or nerves or anything out to make music, that's amazing to me. That you can take a negative energy and process it into something positive. I love it. However with two dogs who of course can't handle the volume too well and a mother who thinks most music to be "noise", that isn't always an option.
My alternative being I love to just drive. Music up and windows down and drive. Turn down whatever road looks interesting and hope I get lost enough to discover something new. I love adventure, and it always makes me think. There are so many places, even places close to me, that could have something incredible, and I don't know anything about it. so exploration is defiantly a big one for me as well

I go onto forums, or play gamez. Sometimes I read, or if when I'm frustrated I'm a little tired, I take a nap.

Re: How do you relax?
I like to bake! Baking really puts my mind at ease. Plus, at the end you have a delicious thing to eat, and nothing makes me feel better than a little something sweet on the side!
If I'm too drained to bake, I like to just lay around and do nothing. I don't get to do that too often, so when I do it's a small blessing. Just light a candle, turn on the TV or grab a magazine, and enjoy it with a little extra dose of languidness. Where I live, it's important to learn to slow down, because the culture and the life is so fast paced and we are constantly going 100 miles per hour, if not more. I always reserve Saturday mornings as lazy days, where I take my time eating breakfast, make some coffee, and just sit at the computer and read up on the news or the forums. Relaxation - aaahhh!

Drawing stupid things is what I do to relax, mostly...
But if I'm angry, I vent my anger in some game with explosions and guns...Best relaxant ever.

Re: How do you relax?
Really depends on what exactly is setting me off, but I generally play games, cuddle with the cat, stare at my fish, read, draw, write, or whatever comes to mind. But usually play games. Black and White is good for cooling off because then I can go on a total evil rampage. Blowing things up, playing catch with my followers... The usual.

Re: How do you relax?
Oh, I love to relax. Its my middle name! And the ways:
-petting the cat
-having a warm cup of chai
-chanting, meditating, doing yoga
-pranayama, which is breathwork. That is actually SUPER soothing after an intense day. It calms and revitalizes the nervous system.
-go for a walk or hike in the woods
-playing Skyrim
-cleaning. I actually love to clean when I'm irritated about something because it gives me something productive to do.

Re: How do you relax?
Some of my usual ways of cooling of are hanging around the forums, RPing a bit, reading...
When I'm really feeling off, a nice long walk or hike usually helps me think about it, deal with it and calm down.

Step 1: Cry about whatever has gotten me upset
Step 2: Get mad about whatever has gotten me upset
Step 3: Vent about whatever has gotten me upset to someone
Step 4: Fire up Halo 4, L4D, or something else I can just play mindlessly, and shoot the [&@%!] out of things to forget about whatever has gotten me upset
Usually works.

I don't usually get mad. I'm too calm. But when I do get mad, I count back from ten. That is usually enough. If not, it's time to get out the Blades of Chaos/Athena/Exile and the Blade of Olympus. I'm about to make gods [&@%!] too.

Good music helps. That, and reading or watching something funny. Nothing brightens and refreshes like laughter.

Re: How do you relax?
Depends on whether it's "short term", or "long term" relaxation.
Often, a cigarette can accomplish the first one, but usually I grab a cold beer, flick the footrest up on my chair, and randomly surf the internet.
Or, if I can be bothered, I drive over to my mates, and sit outside making off-colour jokes, and.... drinking beer.
Edit:
Ooh, also... going to the cricket nets (It's like a baseball cage I guess. Little closed off area where you practice.).
Nothing is more relaxing that belting the [&@%!] out of your mates attempts at bowling, copping a few bruises from the mates who can actually bowl, and then dishing out some hurt when it's my turn to bowl. For a non-contact sport, cricket is violent as [&@%!].

Re: How do you relax?
To relax I sleep, obvious I know, but that is the easiest way for me to pick up my mood. If it is one of those times where I can't get myself to sleep because I'm worrying too much, then I find a place to be alone, and yell. Or I start listening to various songs from musicals. (Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog seems to be a favorite in my mind right now.) Or I open a new word document and start typing out my rage, that's what I've been doing instead of being in a bad mood on here. (Which being on here is another thing I do to relax.)
Some days, if I'm lucky, I can catch a particular one of my friends on Facebook and talk to her, always helps me cool down if I'm frustrated about something. (Ironic, since the most common thing that frustrates me is her...)
Other days I can just play video games to vent, usually by destroying the population of Bruma.

If I am alone, I brood on it endlessly. The more I think about it, the more I become desensitised, then I feel better. I also listen to softer songs.
I also like to relax by being around my boyfriend. His presence is very calming.

Listening to metalcore works well to calm me down, but I really don't stressed or angry all that often.
