Re: Redguard Rumors
If the rumors are true, it probably wouldn't centre on the (next) Great War. Likely, it'd focus on the hatred between Western Skyrim and Eastern Hammerfell--the Redguards of that region have been trying to regain the land(s) the Nords annexed from them during the War of Bendr'mahk.

Re: Redguard Rumors
I'd rather see Redguard as a dlc rather than a full game because I just find them unappealing. I haven't met a Redguard that's had a major role, nor been rememberable to me.

Re: Redguard Rumors
There really IS a lot that could go into a good DLC...
There's the religious and political conflict between the Crowns and the Forbears.
There's Elinhir and Dragonstar, which might well still be parts of Skyrim.
There's the Dominion, of course.
Hmm. Perhaps the DLC could have differing paths based on whether you finished the Stormcloaks, the Imperials or if you completed the Treaty of High Hrothgar.
It would be interesting to try to find a middle ground between the Empire, Stormcloaks, Forebears and Crowns to face an Aldmeri threat.

Agreed ^. But my only question is, how much of Hammerfell would we most likely see? IMO not a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if we traveled to Stros M'Kai. But that is a little out of the way. What do you think?

Re: Redguard Rumors
This was posted on a news article. Still just a rumor.
"Redguard is TESVI. Takes place in Hammerfell, High Rock, and Alinor. Fight over the Adamantine Tower. Thalmor trying to destroy the world."

Re: Redguard Rumors
lol, I could buy a dlc, but that is a total load of crap. TES VI isn't going to come out for another 5 and a half years... they haven't created plot details for it yet.

Yeah, Hammerfell/Thalmor would be excellent for a dlc to finish off this current story thread...

Akavir is a terrible Idea for a next game, the next game could be about Hammerfell and the Thalmor .. then they could start a new Series of games set in Akavir, not one gameSpikeSpeigel wrote:Yeah, Hammerfell/Thalmor would be excellent for a dlc to finish off this current story thread...

Any plot threads need to be wrapped up in Oblivion should not have been put off until Skyrim, agree?
Anything that's going on with the Dragonborn and his/her contemporaries should be wrapped up before ES VI, no?
Great War/Aldmeri threat should or should NOT be wrapped up before ES VI????
So, you're saying ESVI should def take place in Tamriel then??? Maybe Elsewher/Blackmash/Valenwoodl?
There's a whole Mundus out there, my friend!

Re: Redguard Rumors
that was a bit confusing .. .. but
i think Akavir cant be put into one DLC, or even one Game .. Akavir has four big different kingdoms, and very different races, so one DLC or game wouldnt do it justice

Re: Redguard Rumors
Agreed
But ESVI could start the Akavir storyline.
As Redguard could finish our current story...
Sure, there are plenty more stories to be told in Tamriel... I won't scoff at any location we have not been to yet.

Re: Redguard Rumors
First off, I think beth probably views each province as a new game, and intends to milk this series for the next 30 years or so.
That said, there was some rumor posted in one thread or another on here maybe a month ago, which stated that the final 2 DLCs would deal with the dwemer (in a time travel sense) and a resolution to the aldmeri threat.
Given the nature of the internet, and humanity in general, that rumor was more likely false than true, but if true, Hammerfell would probably be a fine spot to have the final resolution to the high elf threat take place. They broke away in defiance of the empire's determination to end the war, and ended up defeating the almeri invaision.
That said, it still seams like a far too ambitious project for a DLC, and if I had to bet my meager possesions, I would say this has no merit

Re: Redguard Rumors
Normally bethy also gives some newly released DLC's some time to get to everyone before they announce another DLC like they did with Dragonborn. PS3 doesn't even have Hearthfire and PC is still on Dawnguard. There needs to be a patch first

Re: Redguard Rumors
Good observation about each province being a new game...but, all of Tamriel being ridden into the ground piece by piece is lackluster IMO.
Balancing the people who dont really care for Redguards at all with the high interest most have for ending the Thalmor threat would be wise for a DLC. So maybe not too ambitious if Bethy gives folks a Solstheim-sized chunk of Hammerfell(maybe a bit of High Rock) to chew on for a while to end the era...
Something bombastic/new/grandiose would be good for ESVI.

Re: Redguard Rumors
The trademark is supposed to expire in Sun's Dawn so it's pretty much a waiting game until then to see if it's renewed. The more I read these posts the more I'm warming up to heading there as opposed to dreading it when I first heard.

Re: Redguard Rumors
I just want to go somewhere without snow.. I'm inclined to believe this rumor purely because of the fact that the last three "totally fake rumors" have been true. If everyone was right about Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn (as unlikely as they might have seemed), I'm going to trust that Redguard is the next DLC and just be happy that more content is coming. The longer I can stay interested in Skyrim the better.

Re: Redguard Rumors
Those rumors were the result of finding game files located in patches. Unless I missed something, that isn't the case hereImperfect Three wrote:I just want to go somewhere without snow.. I'm starting to think that Redguard is going to be made into a mobile game as Oblivion was.

Re: Redguard Rumors
I read a good quote the other day about how in a fantasy setting there should always be some mystery - some unexplored forest, tower or even continent that's occasionally mentioned in the narrative but never seen. This is a story telling tactic and it serves a good purpose. I see places like Akavir and Yokuda fitting that category nicely.
Although - certain questions linger about their similarities. Both continents have yielded invasions by guys with Japanese sounding names wielding curved swords, for one. Also, a biography of a great Redguard hero mentions the "twenty seven snake folk slaughter". There seem to be many hints of an ancient, prehistoric intermingling of Redguards and Tsaesci. I'm not sure what that's supposed to imply but it's hinted at.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: Redguard Rumors
Zenimax is a business and likely will try to save money by only filing for names they intend to utilize. So, Redguard being the name of the next DLC is very likely. If it is REDGUARD... it doesnt need to have anything to do with Hammerfel. It could be anything really. It is naming a person. Guy/girl, good/bad, young/old, antagonist/protagonist, mortal/immortal, smart/unintelligent, friend/rival/foe, rich/poor, pro-faction/ anti-faction, politically important/ unimportant... etc
As for the connection with the title vs the TES Adventures game. Though canon, TES Adventures: Redguard, is technically a different series from TES: and therefore it is acceptable that a DLC could be given the name.
However, a "race" name is odd for BGS. Morrowind DLCs were named after an event and a city. Oblivion DLCs were named after a realm and an organization. Skyrim so far has had an organization and an antagonist. F03 DLC names are places and missions. They also have for the first time shown that they are unafraid of completely redoing previous locations so a DLC that just so happens to utilize an area of Hammerfel is perfectly plausible. This would in no way prevent BGS from going to Hammerfel in a later game. Remember, time is the most universal excuse for change.

Do you get to the Cloud District very often? Oh what am I saying, of course you don't.ZackyZombify wrote:I'd rather see Redguard as a dlc rather than a full game because I just find them unappealing. I haven't met a Redguard that's had a major role, nor been rememberable to me.
I'd like to say that the fact that they don't seem interesting is why they need a game about them. I didnt care much for the Nords ("Oh big dumb barbarians, whoopty-doo.") until Skyrim came out and fleshed them out. Heck, I didn't care much about the Dunmer until I recently went back and played through morrowind.
The lore for Redguards is fairly neat, I'd love to see it fleshed out in a game.
One last note; to whomever said that because ES6 is probably 5 years away that Bethesda doesn't have anything written: I'd be very surprised if that was the case. Development of these types of games is a long term project, they very likely have at least an outline of what they want to do.
It's okay to disagree with me, you're entitled to your opinion. No matter how wrong you are.
