What can this run?

Post by Archer »

I have this laptop: http://www.amazon.com/Compaq-Celeron-1- ... B007FH8R88

I am fairly sure this can run Morrowind, but can it handle mods?
Can this even run Skyrim? If it can, on what graphics setting and can it run a few mods?
Can it run Oblivion with mods?

Thanks for any help you can provide. I'm not that good with computers and I have looked at the wiki, but I am just not sure what it can and can't do.

Pretty sure it should handle Morrowind just fine. However, I've tried Skyrim on a laptop with a 2.1 Ghz processor and 3 GB of RAM and it ran painfully slow on the lowest graphics setting. Also, I could be wrong but that seems little overpriced. I got a lot more for $550 CAD and that was 17 months ago.

ETA: Sorry read quickly, didn't realized you had it. Thought you were buying it.

I got it on sale a while ago for $150. It occured to me that I might be able to use it for gaming. To be honest, I didn't expect it to be able to handle Skyrim, just wanted to be sure.

I doubt it'll run Skyrim. It's a dual core 1.5ghz with integrated graphics

Mods in Morrowind shouldn't be an issue unless they're some great visual enhancements

This might be a little of topic (as far as your question.) I have a similar computer (Inspiron 910 1.6 ghz) I realized that i could also do a little gaming on it a while back. I looked into a bunch of games that I could play. I would recommend Baldur's Gate, Medieval: Total War, and Fallout (1). They will run well and can be found for a good price on amazon.

All but top notch laptops have problems with games, mainly due to their integrated graphics cards. When laptops reach the level, compared with desktops, that mobile phones have today, compared with the first smart phones they had some years ago, you can probably run a space station...

Then you have your Star Trek, your Stargate, and certainly your any TES game. But now, I would say the only sure option is a sturdy Desktop PC. Laptops are a bit... whimsy.

All of the very best, God bless, and whatever. :)

My laptop is that one (as far as I can tell) and it can just about cope with Oblivion. Skyrim is most likely not runnable, and if it was, not really playable - I only use it for Oblivion for when I want/need the console for my xbox 360 version...
