The new recruits had just received all their equipment. They were in the PDA North American headquarters, a concrete bunker a few miles outside of Washington, D.C. They had been taken into a briefing room and sat on wooden chairs. The walls were bare concrete and the floor a black carpet. The door to the room was behind them and in front of them a desk and a blackboard covered in briefing materials. The recruits were the only people in the room. However just then a white man in his late 50's entered the room. He was bald and wearing sunglasses. His green jacket was covered in medals. It was clear that he was the commander of the base. He stood behind the desk and put his hands down on it. There was a badge on his coat that just read Rhodes. "Everyone here?" asked Rhodes.

Jaime didn't bother answering. Obviously he was there, the man didn't need to have it reaffirmed. The bearded Cuban did however glance around the room, examining the others. He wasn't impressed at all.

Nancy fidgeted in her seat. This was all so new to her, so strange. The 'armor' as they called it was the tightest thing she had worn since her wedding night, although not the most revealing. She smoothed out the legs of her uniform and brushed a few locks of hair forward, trying to cover as much of the scarring as she could.

The former homemaker looked around timidly, wondering if the question was meant to be answered, and if it was, who would answer.

Sam glanced up at the commanded but did not speak expecting someone else to speak up for the group. After briefly examining the commander he went back to looking at the ground not bothering to check who he'd been grouped with. They'd either be dead by the end of the week or they wouldn't, either way it would come down to luck who lived and died. It always did.

Jim replied, "Jim Wilson, present and ready for action." Realizing he may have spoken a little too loudly he uncomfortably scanned the room, hoping he didn't draw too much attention to himself.

Kathy Weatherby's morning had been a constant internal debate on whether or not she should have brought a basket of muffins to this event. She was a new recruit and wanted to make the others feel welcome. In the end, she decided against it; she wasn't used to a setting such as this, and it probably would have been considered inappropriate.

"Kathleen Weatherby, present and ready for duty, sir," The middle-aged blond said, as rigid as her steely bun. The smile she wore was just as stiff, but at least a little genuine.

"Jaime Jimenez," Jaime introduced himself. "Is this really what America is reduced to these days?" He spoke in a Cuban accent that he adopted after moving to Cuba. It wasn't natural and after what happened he wasn't very sure why he kept it up. Just habit, he guessed.

"Is Mexico really any better?" Nancy asked quietly, hoping not to be heard.

Sid had been looking around the room at his fellow recruits. He found that he wasn't able to tell what the others were thinking just by looking at them; after all, he was more used to reading people's vital signs than their personalities. But he assumed that at least a few of them were as nervous as him.

"I'm here," he said finally. "I mean, um... Sid Parker, present. Sir."

Sam glanced at the Cuban. "Shouldn't you be off with the other commies son ?" He asked not willing to have anything bad said about his country, especially by a foreigner.

"I was." Jaime answered cooly. "But then they shot at me. So I'm no longer with them."

Rhodes rolled his eyes behind his sunglasses. "Let me give you a brief summary of the situation before you ask questions. The ships were first spotted a week ago. But they haven't been doing anything, yet. Now we got a call from a man at a truck stop. The Dixie Boy. It's between D.C and New York. He said he was a truck driver and had a live alien in the back of his truck. Apparently he was meant to transport it to a warehouse in New York but once he figured out what it was he contacted the authorities. You have two objectives. First bring in the alien alive, along with any technology it might have. Second find out what you can from the truck driver. We need to learn where he got it, where he was bringing it and why they wanted it. The driver's name is Jacob Everett. Black, 20's. Try to keep this low key. People don't know we exist and they don't know an invasion is about to start. Last thing we need is panic breaking out." said Rhodes. "Now, any relevant questions?"
