How powerful was Numidium?
The Brass-god of the Dwemer, just how strong was it? Obviously it messed up time twice, but how much damage could it do. Also any readings about Brass-walk-tower would be appreciated.

By our breath we bestow it now to you in the name of Kyne, in the name of Shor, and in the name of Atmora of old.
You are Ysmir now, the Dragon of the North, hearken to it.

Enough damage to destroy a medium town with no effort i assure you.

We can't bring it back, ancient wisdom is lost, and atlantis must emerge, as it sank.

Alinor surrendered in a matter of hours. Its fleet was wiped out within a very short time period. To reiterate just what I mean - Numidium destroyed the Altmer navy and conquered their province in less than a day.

Imagine, if you will, an Aedra not weakened by their sacrifice of power for Mundus or a Daedric Prince walking on Nirn (albeit a fragment of that true power)

How on Nirn did the Dwemer build this freakin thing? How can one construct something to rival a god?

As intelligent as the Dwemer were, what they accomplished was build a machine that could tap into the latent power of Lorkhan's Heart and made a supersized Centurion to put it in.

Notice how they aren't around any more?
Numidium being as powerful as a god and them being extinct are not two unrelated facts.
There's a connection.

Re: How powerful was Numidium?
It took exactly an hour for Alinor to surrender. Though the siege is technically still going on since "time warping cocoon logician" Altmer (best way to describe MK's babble) are still fighting/trying to prevent it. MK also says that the true power was not the literal strength of the Brass God, but the plane(t)s/Gods and time bending chronologies that were circling it.

I tend to take MK's recent, post-Beth work with a grain or two of salt.
I am so bummed you beat me to this. Why the Dunmer thought it was a good idea to give Tiber Numidium, I have no idea.

Re: How powerful was Numidium?
You know how powerful the heros tend to be. It is more powerful then our overpowered heros. It wiped out an entire navy full of mages within hours and caused the Altmer to surrender in a day. And i suspect Tiber was only able to use a very small portion of it's power as the Dwemer knew how to unlock it's full power and most likely built in a failsafe to avoid it being used against them which may have weakened due to their disappearance thus allowing Tiber to use it. Although how he found it and managed to get it work is a mystery to me. Plus if he couldn't use it's power, it could always step on his enemies.
Fast forward to the events of Daggerfall and it was shut down for good by the Agent who was killed by it due to it falling on them, which meant they were it's last victim. It is unknown where it is as i think the ruin it was held in was either made inaccessible by the blades to enure no-one could get to it or a very powerful seal was cast onto the entrance. I wonder if they will bring back the Numidum after the events of Skyrim and have it be the cataylst to winning the war against/for the dominion in TES6? As i can see them having us trying to activate it although it would take a lot of good writing to explain why it is in *province name* instead of daggerfall.

"Michael Kirkbride's influence on Skyrim (10/08/11)
We all try not to take it to heart that only MK can save Skyrim from the trash heap - but I can say that even without directly writing any books, I'd say there's more of his influence on Skyrim than Oblivion. Probably a lot more - if you look at the chapter from the PGE on Skyrim, (pretty sure that was one of his - I can't remember any more who wrote which one, it's Bilbo and Strider all over again), and that chapter is the foundation for the whole setting. And if you look really hard, you might even find a painted cow. (No comment on flying whales.)"

Re: How powerful was Numidium?
So your proof that MK's writings don't affect Bethesda's story telling is a quote by Kuhlmann speaking about MK's writings affecting Skyrim's lore? I mean...I dunno. Did you read what you posted before you tried to use it to refute Xarnac? Apparently you're taking something very different away from it than we are.
Also FYI, I've compiled an admittedly incomplete list of things he wrote about that actually appeared in Skyrim.

Er, Kuhlmann just reiterated what I said - that MKs writings do influence current Beth stuff. Was about to link Pilaf's IL thread, but he beat me to it. My only problem with MK lore is when people try to imitate him, but do a terrible job.

It's called misreading guys. SajuukKhar misread Xarnac. You guys are like wolves with all of these rotting carcasses we pretend is lore. Next time, lets give each other the benefit of the doubt.
To answer the question: Strong enough to make dead gods take it from time. Strong enough to reshape Time and break the Dragon.(with our help of course) And appear all over the Illiac Bay at once. Not to mention the power of an entire race of arcane Mer. Very powerful, indeed.

Defiled and Conquered, and yet we are not even the greatest of Bal's servants. We're more like the advance scouting party. Greater and more sarcastic terrors lurk in the cold harbors; you can be assured of that.Br3admax wrote:It's called misreading guys. SajuukKhar misread Xarnac. And smart enough to ditch this party when it started getting obvious that mortals wanted to use it for their own purposes. Well, I didnt necessarily pounce, hence my "Perhaps you meant to quote OblivionDuruza?" as I figured there was a miscommunication there somewhere. But back on topic, they should make another ES Adventure game where you're the Numidium. It would be like a mech game but on acid.

I quoted the wrong person, and misread the person I quoted.
It was like 2 am where I was when I wrote that, wasn't thinking straight.

I'm aware, but I don't believe they were really naive enough to believe he wouldn't find a way to power it, which is in fact exactly what he did.SajuukKhar wrote:the tribunal didn't give Tiber the heart, they essentially gave him a car without a battery.
Re: MK, I won't deny that he is one of the most influential figures in TES Lore, but even today official Bethesda lore is continuing to contradict his fanfiction. See: Dragonborn and the status of House Redoran, which he said was totally destroyed as a result of the Oblivion Crisis (after which people went around saying REMEMBER REDORAN, NEVER FORGET as if it were lore, and then we found out that they were currently the most powerful House in existence). I just think we as a community should be careful with this sort of non-official lore, because for all we know next people will be saying that Loranna's RP is lore because Ted Peterson participated (and people have said just that), and further, people outside of Bethesda, no mater how informed, don't know what new plans Bethesda may have (i.e. things may, and most probably, have changed since MK was in the full know).
Everyone makes mistakes, so let's forgive and forget and move on to the business of everyone disagreeing with me shall we
P.S.: As a sidenote, I believe I've taken us a little astray from the topic at hand, to what I feel is an equally good one

Re: How powerful was Numidium?
Where does it say he said explicitly that Redoran was destroyed as in completely kaput? Just cause of that picture? Doesn't say anything other than Redoran's seat of power was overran/destroyed. If anything I think it shows Dunmer unity and a hint perhaps at Redoran's meteoric rise among the people of the Dunmer. I don't go following all the stuff MK says but I very much disagree with you on the Redoran thing.

I think you should re-read that quote.legoless wrote:^ MK said they were destroyed. You can brush it off however you like, but it's a clear contradiction.
"Remember Redorn Never forget" does not imply they were wiped out entirely, just that they got their asses handed to them bad, which they did.
The implication that Redorn is gone entirely does not exist in that quote, period.

Re: How powerful was Numidium?
Adril Arano, Raven Rock's second councilor mentions how the dunmer were destroyed by the daedra during the oblivion crisis, with only a few small pockets of resistance, but eventually house redoran built up an army and started rebuilding the dunmer after defeating the daedra, and became the leaders of the houses.
He also mentions a bit about Mournhold being destroyed (Not certain, but it was whatever city was the dunmeri capital at the time) and the city of Blacklight becoming the new capital. Or the names might be the other way round, but those were the ones mentioned.
It would be nice if someone who does know about dunmeri stuff could go over this, but I got most of what he said...

Ah, and that wipes the slate clean entirely. Because MK, being the omnipotent lore author that he is, intended Redoran to make a comeback all along, and we were clearly just too ignorant to see it in his enlightened writings.
