My toughest fight came about when a glitch caused hostile ordinators to almost constantly respawn in front of me. I won by sleeping then perma-summoning [enchanted daedric shield] dremora's over and over.

It was a rather long time ago, but I think it might be the same enemy - a Lich (?), the final opponent of Siege at Firemoth. Now, I have a peculiar style of play. I don't like to be stressed too much, but rather relax, enjoy the gameplay, exploration, the world and its details. While I'm glad to find a challenge from time to time, this particular foe was almost too much for my not-too-tough Thief with Glass Armor and Ebony Shortsword (absolutely not the best gear around, but I simply like these...). All my companions were dead in a second, and after defeating every minor enemy in the chamber, I had to jump and run wildly to avoid the Lich's attacks (they could take away about half of my character's health!) and manage to hit him myself. The fight lasted for like 20 minutes, but I won eventually.
Due to some problems, I still didn't even finish Tribunal or Bloodmoon, or play many prominent mods, so there's certainly something much worse waiting for me.

I haven't tried that yet... o.o; But I think I might be able to hold my own at this point.... maybe. As long as Azura doesn't appear out of nowhere and mangle my character into a pulpy hunk of meat. o.o....
The hardest fight that I ever came across... without dying... requires a spoiler alert attached to it.

My hardest fight was against Almalexia in the Tribunal main quest. Holy crap she packs a punch. She isn't as powerful as Vivic is (with his spell that he can only cast twice and do like 5 bazillion damage with), but dang. I only survived because I had a sanctuary spell with 100 magnitude. She went from destroying me to hitting me once every 5 swings of her sword. Luckily, Trueflame had a big punch itself, otherwise that spell wouldn't have lasted long enough. Lol. And have you ever tried fighting her in the High Chapel with the 5 elite "Her Hands"? I died with my strongest character in less than a minute. I tried doing with the health cheat... still died in less than a minute. But, with my new character... I think I could take em... just like I might be able to take the Nerevarine Incarnates... lol.

My toughest fight ever? A piece of grass, at night, on a path between Seyda Neen and Pelagiad... seriously, no matter how many times I hit that thing with my arrows, it just wasn't going down. If I checked on the Wiki, I'm sure I'd find it had about 50,000 for health. Thankfully, I kept it at ranged combat, so I never found out if it had some killer spell it was just waiting to unleash on me.
[ note: i thought it was a rat... At night, with the music off - and being a fairly poor bowman coupled with turning the crosshair off - shadows and silhouettes are often your biggest enemy. ]
I never remember Morrowind actually being that tough. Going into Kogoruhn is always a challenge, but usually it's a lack of preparation that kills you in Vvardenfell, not the badguys. Even clumsy Dagoth Ur - with his appalling lack of safety rails (and sense of balance) in his Evil Badguy Lair - can't put up much of a fight.

As soon as I was released from the prisoner boat, I attempted to kill a hlaalu guard, not hard later but as a level one it was impossible.

In vanilla morrowind I guess it was hircine with buddies, perhaps not the hardest, there you have your usual suspects dagoth ur,almalexia, vivec, but
as a final of a very challenging quest with wherewolves and all
Modded it was a bad dude with friends in moons spawn.

No one has said him because he could easily be kept at bay with magic and/or arrowsKylejustgot wrote:i can't believe no one has said gaenor

Well, I have to admit... Gaenor... was unexpectedly... frustrating. Do you know what it's like to have a low-ish combat skill level while fighting him? I mean, with the weapon skill you favor at 100 and your luck and agility at 100 and your fatigue maxed out you still don't hit often... but with quickly draining fatigue, a weapon skill of like 65, and an untouched luck stat with moderately good agility... holy crap. It took forever to get that little pest to breathe his last.

I just attack someone, get hit by lots of spells, then I get killed...
The most annoying fight (perhaps not hardest, but the most annoying for sure) is also a perfect illustration of my luck as a whole. I made a character with short blade as my weapon of choice. I decided to get some better armor/weapons with the money had available and see what I could see. I made it just past the bridge heading away from the silt strider where I was attacked by a small worm we're all familiar with called a kwama forager.
It killed me.

Did it at least autosave when you slept? I know I hadn't saved at all; I had to do that whole damned tutorial thing again. It may be short, but I find the Morrowind tutorial annoying as heck. I'm not even sure why.Dogmantra wrote:Cactus, that reminds me of when I was new to the game, the first time I saw a cliff racer, I used beast tongue on it, then ran away to Pelagiad, and rented a room in the tavern there, I was greeted when I woke up with Grriooww (whatever noise they make) and I got killed.
I know what you mean Cactus, and you cant even save right before Soccius Ergeallus(Whatever his name is)!
I know there are some mods that removes the tutorial and then you just start somewhere in Vvardenfell, but i just really never bothered installing them.
It really sucks!
