Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
The Dovahkiin's transition to World Eater. It seems like the logical choice for Akatosh to give him the role as the next world eater due to how powerful he is. It could consist of 10-20 quests that focus on slowly becoming the world eater and as a side effect, becoming stronger, more shouts etc.. It could be based in a very large and very dark(not sure if they have done a dark ruin) that tests the Dovahkiin whilst being interesting. You could fight the 4 chosen dragons who have waited since Alduin was sent forward in time and the dovahkiin can decide to resist his chosen destiny or embrace it. Either way, it could end up being an excellent ending to the dovahkiin's story as well as an ironic one as Alduin is probably deemed untrustworthy by Akatosh.
Or it could be one about Talos. I'm a bit disappointed there were little to no Talos quests in Skyrim considering he is the god that all nords worship/did worship. It could take place all over skyrim and give us a lot of unknown lore about him.
I'm not sure if the next DLC should be the start of the next great war as that seems like something that is best suited to be mentioned in the lore after Skyrim. However, if they take some inspiration from DAO and gather allies then have one massive battle against the dominion who have decided to try to take Skyrim after the Civil War and after Alduin has been defeated as well as you completing all of the story based DLCs, it could be good. They could allow us to go into the pass and recruit a small but very powerful band of mercs, find the head of the Skyrim vampires(unsure if thingy was the head of it or not) and battle him in a duel in order to impress him, ease tensions between Dunmer and nords etc.. The final battle could take place on the plains of Whiterun or near Pale pass. Depending on how many allies you recruited, Skyrim either beats the forces of Alinor or falls. But due to the engine, i suspect they would just do one of every ally you have recruited whilst having another NPC mention how the battle is going. Which could be Balgruuf as i can see him helping the Dovahkiin to form an army.
A dragon based DLC could be interesting provided it is focusing on the lore instead of being the Dovahkiin kills more dragons and gets a few new shouts as well as becoming a god DLC.

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
I want to revist, like I said in another thread, a place of nostalgia. Solstheim was great for that, but I recommend Bruma/Cloud Ruler or a walled off Imperial City. You can then see the effect of the war with the Dominion, the nostalgic statue of Akatosh, the White Gold Tower and council in its current form. Oh, I could be reduced to tears by it all.
It'd probably make sense to visit there (by carriage or something) for a war with the Aldmeri Dominion. In fact, you could probably just seclude the whole Island realistically with Lake Rumare as a natural barrier, with an invisible wall at the Imperial Bridge going to Waters edge (I think it is called). There would be so much you could do there, even on that Island alone ranging from activities with the Arcane University (whether it be in Synod hands or the College of whispers), a new found Fighters guild lodge that can be looking to open lodges in Skyrim. I think that would be a great quest line to be honest given the lacklustre Companions questline. Just to summarise;
-A main quest, potentially involving the Thalmor/Penitus Oculatus or working alongside members of the Imperial Council. Could introduce the political edge many yearn for following the Great Houses of Morrowind.
-Fighters guild with a questline of expansion into Skyrim. Possible conflict with Companions? Or setting up lodges only in the Falkreath hold given proximity to Cyrodiil. This questline would effectively be assisting the fighters guild to establish a foothold in Skyrim and then there can be a questline of maintaining this foothold against outside threat. Resolving a possible inside conspiracy to foil the Fighters Guild plan could feature. If you hate the fighters guild, there could be a choice to help the conspirators but that would be very intricate.
-Mages questline with the Synod and the College of Whispers. Not so much expansion of the Synod and College of Whispers but more a rivalry between them. There could be quests where the rivalry extends to the College of Winterhold also, but predominantly a rivalry between the two Imperial based factions.
-Extension to the thieves guild. Potential reemergence of the Gray fox as a bonus for those who have done the Thieves guild in Skyrim (considering you're most likely going to have done those quests if you'd want to get involved with a thieves guild in Cyrodiil).
-Aftermath of the Dark Brotherhood/Continuation. I won't ruin the story for anyone, but those who do know, there could be a potential 'new crowning' of sorts or a new series of DB related quests.
Overall, this would be primarily in the interests of founding new guilds or having the ability to continue those already present. As a result of the lacking area (although I think the Imperial City is more than adequate) there could be expansion to the Companions and College of Winterhold included as well. I know this most likely won't happen, but it is a hoping for the best. Even if my hopes are Utopian dreams.

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
I like those ideas. Unfortunately, I suspect that is more content that Bethesda would want to provide expecially as some of it would require them to admit that they didn't make the best job on the guilds in Skyrim. If Hearthfire is anything to go by I'm assuming the next DLC will be small and aimed at adding in some niche elements that have been shown in the game jam video. I think they will add spell crafting, spears, a giant, mud crab and underwater combat in the next DLC. This would leave them free to tie up the Thalmor and Civil War in a final DLC that never leaves Skyrim. Although Knowing my luck they will probably add in an MLP or Homestuck tie in.

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
They wouldn't have to admit anything. To say 'we did a good job, but we can do even better now' is not really a criticism I think. I would just love more factions/guilds to join rather than going after random and non -associated miscellaneous quests all the time. I don't think underwater combat will be in it though, makes no sense as they could have done that at release but they went out of their way to disable it, which only adds to realism really. The idea of going to buy Imperial goods is always a bonus... could do with a proper source of Imperial linen, Cyrodilic Brandy and Surilie/Tamika Brothers wine...

EDIT: HOW COULD I FORGET, The Imperial City would clearly enable the Arena to be reused as well. So there can be an Arena questline as a result of this DLC idea. I'm so clever. Why am I not a designer...

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
I hope they don't do the next war with the domminion in DLC, that should be ES6.
Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
No arena! Every RPG & it's dog in the last 15 years has had an arena. Honestly, if Beth can't come up with a better idea than an arena they should just shut their doors now.
They need to do something with the giants, at the moment they just wander around and don't really contribute much to the game.

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
It's not about coming up with a better idea, it's an enjoyable one. Quite frankly, I'd be thankful for any additional content, an Arena being one of them. I'm not advocating a DLC solely for it, but its well worth adding on a side note.

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
I don't want additional content for the sake of it. Bioware do that and it is just about the money they can make (pre release dlc, weapons packs, alternative appearance packs etc.). Beth got burned by the horse armour, so hopefully rather than just bung out any old crap the next DLC will be well thought out and add value to the Skyrim experience. An arena won't do that in my opinion because there are only so many things you can do with them and they have all been done several times. Beth should be setting the pace not churning out a load of cliched ideas.

I'd like to see something similar to lycanthropy, but for a much broader range of creatures, to allow shape-shifting into different forms. Having a separate perk tree for this would make it possible to unlock larger/smaller creatures, or the ability to shape-shift into other races or to take on the appearance of other NPCs etc.

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
I'm completely indifferent on the topic of spears. If they're in, cool. I won't use them; I'll take a sword any day.
I barely even used them in Morrowind.
How about:
More armor types. This is always a plus.
An improved follower system.
A feature similar to the 'Hardcore Mode' from New Vegas.
More Daedric Artifacts. Goldbrand, Lord's Mail, anyone?
More choice. I don't like being forced to work for
More non-daedric artifacts from previous games. Chillrend was nice; how about the Boots of Bloody Bounding, or the Boots of Springheel Jack?
More spell customization.
Emphasis on an Elder Scrolls culture other than the Dark Elves or the Nords. I miss Daggerfall's setting.
More followers. More racial diversity in them. More Marriage candidates. Improvements to that system in general.
Extended perk trees, with a higher level cap.
A 'superboss' that can be fought alongside a follower, and NPCs that you have helped throughout your journeys. Sided with the Stormcloaks? Galmar and Ulfric drop in to lend you a hand, while some of the Companions might hop in and do the same. Give out massive rewards for defeating said boss. Make boss respawnable via some kind of button to summon him. (Activate altar = "Are you sure you wish to summon Almighty Malachi, Professional Bowling God, and prove your strength?" or something.)

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
Weak as he is, Alduin is the main antagonist. Can't see the need for an over powered super boss and not sure how Beth would cram that in. Loot is pointless after about level 30 as I always have at least 2 houses of stuff I never use and 50,000 septims. Given how ugly weapons and armour are in TES I don't want any more.
New guilds and expanding on some of the in game factions and locations would be preferable to shoehorning a load of stuff from previous TES games in, if you add everything from previous games those games then become devalued.

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
I'm with you on more marriage candidates. The number of female and male NPCs available for marriage that are both interesting and attractive is incredibly sad.

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
Fair is fair I suppose, Dragon Age 3 will be taking it's inspiration from Skyrim. Maybe Beth will come up with a Leisure Suit Larry style add for Skyrim.

Indeed !
Giants desperatley need to be expanded upon, they have had barely any information given on their culture or anything. one the reasons that made me buy Skyrim was the fact that giants were in it and (according to the pre release videos) you could talk to them, i was dissapointed that you actually could not talk to them, but perhaps they could add in a Giant storyline in the next DLC
i had an idea for it to be a DLC about Giants and Orcs, set in the mountains to the west near High Rock in a newly established Orsinium, since orcs didnt really get much of anything in any of the TES games apart from Daggerfall, i think they deserve a bit of a part in the next DLC
but what i would really really like is just a dream .... i would love it if they somehow released a DLC that simply improved and changed the main game, like improving faction questlines and the main quest ... however it is, as i said, nothing but an impossible dream

It'd be nice if my damn ebony blade and skull of corruption could stay on my weapon rack...
The amount of bugs that need to be fixed could amount up to a DLC. I'd call it "Our Bad!!!" or something like that.
Our Bad!!! is an all new DLC that fixes most, if not all the bugs we didn't get to in the past! New features include:
-Weapons not falling off of racks!
-Games not crashing so much!
-Able to complete Litany of Larceny!
-Mannequins not duplicating your gear!
-Able to do The Wolf Queen Awakened at level 81!
-And many more!
So glad I'm getting a pc next year. I'm tired of running into [&@%!] that I can't fix on my sucksbox 360 and having to wait 2 weeks for a damn patch that'll either make it worse or won't show up at all.

You know what would be kind of neat? Is if they added in an option to take the kids to the park or the lake. Or better yet, if you could teach them things AND teach your followers skills.
Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
Personally, I would prefer the option to feed the spouse and kids to a passing dragon.

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
A small wishlist.
More marriage candidates, and from other races. More stewards. More DIY houses (different style would be preferred). More RP aesthetics like this stuff.
Harder to sneak past enemies. Smarter guard AI, relight torches, notice doors that are opened, use detect death (would be a benefit if human[they are paranoid of vampires of something]). In the end, smarter guards and enemies that provide serious weaknesses for supernatural players. I mean the dawnguard should have been harder, but I never died as a VL during the whole questline.
BGS always does a good job with weapons and armor. Keep that up.
A longer questline. MORE choices that redefine your playthrough. Things like Legion vs Stormcloaks.

You all know the under the bugs discussion.
Well what do you think about this?
The loose translations for the jars are:
Destruction - Betrayal/misguidedness - Catastrophe/Natural Disaster - Distress
Constraint of freedom - Transportation - Dreams, the unknown, possibility of loss
Distress of mankind
Force of destruction - Controlled crisis leading to completion/Natural Disaster or catastrophe - Constraint of freedom
Opposition of Joy and Sorrow opposed or augmented by "Isa", or represent duality of good and evil?
Now.. of course there always exists the likelyhood of reading into these things...
The first one seems to describe dawnguard in its entirety. Destruction (you cant "kill" vampires), Betrayal/ misguidedness (Harkon and Valencia's actions), Catastrophe/natural disaster (blocking out the sun), Distress (Serana)
The second one.
Constraint of freedom (Miirak is mind controlling) - Transportation (go to Solstheim) - Dreams, the unknown, possibility of loss (When you are in the books you are "transparent and unmoving" according to NPCs, and you go to Apocrypha, and if you die in the book you simply get kicked out of the book without dying)
Tell me that doesnt seem crazy....

Re: Your Hopes For the Next DLC?
An actual earthquake would be nearly divine level magic. The Psijics could do something like that with great collective effort, but I doubt a single mage of any type could. Perhaps a powerful Shout, but that's it. It would be game breaking though. How can you generate an earthquake without damaging the game terrain? It's not feasible from a game design standpoint. Not in this type of world.Lynx wrote:No. Because summoning an earthquake to make all your enemies fall to the ground sounds way more fun than tossing fireballs at them.Pilaf The Defiler wrote: Why?
