Your Hopes For the Next DLC?

Post by BunBun299 »

What are your hopes for the next Skyrim DLC? I ask this partially out of curiousity, and partially in hopes that someone from Bethesda will take a look over here and take notes.

First, spears as a new weapon type. We got teased and disappointed this time. I'd really like spears in every material type, with the option to forge short ones for One Handed and shield or Dual wielding purposes, and long spears for Two Handed combat.

Second, I want some bigger battles. Massive out door war stuff. Kinda like what the civil war was, though hopefully with tougher enemies. I've got 1 character whose level 80, another at 81. I need something to challenge them. Ebony Warrior and Karstaag were steps in the right direction on this front. But that's over all to quickly once you actually win.

Spears don't work as one-handed weapons unless they are javelin-type weapons and don't even think about dual-wiedling those.

There are already rumors of the next 2 DLC's. Whatever bethesda has planned, they won't be coming over here for anything to inspire them.

I want more events to effect the world. I was sort of disappointed that no one seems to know anything about Solstheim in Skyrim. I mean at least let NPCs in Windhelm make a mention of it you know? NPC1: "Did you hear? There's a ship just outside on the docks that can take you to Solstheim" NPC2: "Solstheim? What a wretched place! I visited once at least there is something here in Windhelm" or "Really? I may just charter it I am sick of Windhelm!" or if the player has finished the Civil war "Really? That's nice but I'll stay here, with Brunwulf in charge things are going to get better." or "Really? Now is my chance to be rid of Ulfric, Nords, and this wretched weather!"

Spears, meh, idk really it would be nice but I am not gonna gripe about it like many people do. I hardly used them in Morrowind and while they make sense as a weapon choice I wouldn't care.

More lore as usual. DB was amazing cause it provided a lot of lore but it also only provided a skeleton of all the events of Morrowind in the past 200 years. Makes sense though it's Raven Rock not Morrowind but I would want to know how the main land is doing even if my home is Raven Rock.

More variety of enemies, weapons (War Axes! Please!), and Armor (Better armor too!)

Perhaps a visit to another city in another province (Like Mournhold for example a walled city to provide a natural boundary) or Orsinium.

That really depends on how you actually use them more so than what the weapon actually is, but that's a debate that treads into the realm of reality which Tamriel is nothing at all like reality to begin with.

on topic, more enchanting effects would be nice. Like getting stuff like the bloodskaal blade's effect for our own personal use on other weapons to start. Hell maybe even some new giant city to explore on a level of like.. oblivion's imperial city going into some intense skyrim styled dwemer ruin into a blackreach type of place level of detail.

and the ability to strip enchants off of equipment you don't like, possibly tied to the enchanting skill.
Spoiler:
maybe even allow for storing the stripped enchants and applying them to something else later. like striping the ebony mail and putting it's effects on a tunic or soemthing if one were skilled enough.
edit: also aditional light/heavy versions of existing armor sets. Heavy armor made of leather :Twisted Evil:

A long main quest line, a couple of artifacts and a lot of dead Altmer.

Really, I just want a long and satisfying quest-line that wraps up our story. Dragonborn is very interesting but leaves us with more questions and uncertainty.

Wrapping up Skyrim

Post by Winterborn »

Skyrim is definately one of the best elder scrolls yet, and absolutely the most fun to explore, and the most dense. It also has one of the most interesting Player characters (the other being Nerevarine, but i believe the Dragonborn is better), and the easiest to put yourself in the place of. However, the Dragonborn gives me questions with no answers. Dragonborn DLC was a leap- obviously our character would not have accepted Miraak's challenge if he was not honorable, or didnt care about being the Last Dragonborn. But the fights with Karstaag and allegedly the Ebony Warrior (i have yet to find him) leave me wondering what is left for the Dragonborn to do. Although i have been walking in his shoes for over a year now, i still don;t know him.

Being a story-sensitive person, and very character-aware, i want some closure on the Dragonborn himself when Skyrim finally 'ends.'
I have a theory that the next DLC will be about the size of Hearthfire, and the one after (and probably the last) will be larger in size. I am hoping that this DLC will take us on a journey (whatever it be, fighting thalmor or more dragons) to discover the true nature of our character, and be heavily centered on self-discovery. Although the Dragonborn is the most facinating character of the series so far, he is also the most obscure.

What do you want for the last (presumably larger) DLC? Something story-driven that reveals the character of our Dragonborn, or at least gives us the ability to solidify the stories we have created for them, or just another DLC where the goal is to smack the bad guy?

The last one is rumored to involve picking who gets to be the high king and driving off the thalmor, but who knows...

With the way things are, there is no high king and the thalmor are still around no matter which side wins the civil war. Some closure would be nice.

I really want Atmora. I love the fact that we can go to Solstheim but I think going to Atmora, either at present or visiting Atmora in the past. I've always been really fascinated with the lore surrounding the place, and I think a DLC over it would be awesome.

100% what Winterborn said. I would also like to see the Dohvakiin's story wrapped up so I can move on to the next ES game with all the ends tied up. :) Definitely finishing with the Thalmor...they must have the idea of saving the best for last.

Rumor has it that one of the upcoming DLC's has to do with going to war "against the Elves" (probably the AD); another DLC is rumored to have to do with going back to when the Nords were at war with the Falmer and the Dwemer (meaning that we might be able to see the Dwemer, in the flesh!).

I've also seen this and personally think its a load of [&@%!]. Choosing a new high king would require the PC to finish the Civil War questline (unless they make it obsolete which i find highly impossible), and fighting the Thalmor seems like something for a different time. They have been built up too much to be finished off in a a short DLC, we hardly know anything about them. Maybe a DLC expanding on them, since we really know very little about the actual Thalmor, we have only seen their Justiciars- not even actual Thalmor officials (besides Elenwen). We don't even know who thier leader is (as far as i know). So maybe a DLC answering those questions and letting players whack around on them a bit. But probably not a full fledged war. That's Elder Scrolls 6 territory.

As for going back to when the Nords were at war with the Dwemer and the Falmer, that just seems silly to me. i cant think of a reason our DB would need to do that, and the Dwemer are built within Skyrim as a lost race with an uncertain fate (since ES 3) and i doubt that is going to change now. Weve get new dwemer stuff in olmost all the DLC so far, and those usually show some of the Dwemer secrets. The falmer, at this point, are honestly just unintersting as something to explore in a DLC, unless Beth finds something to make them really cool. Fighting enemies that show up in like 50% of Skyrims dungeons for a whole DLC seems like a really lazy and unimaginative idea. If it is true, i am dissapointed.

Not ragging on you of course, just my opinions on those rumors.

Spears? No. I really don't care. They'll just lay in some chest in my house exactly like crossbows. Which were added cause people were whining and I never used them. Most people don't. Exact same thing with spears. Then after that it'll be throwing stars or something to start whining about. Never ending cycle.

As for dwarves? No. Unless I get to commit genocide against them.

Snow elves? Yes. Just cause they put me in aw. Their achitecture is astounding too.

New high king? Yes. It would make me happy to see Ulfric at his rightful place.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

I got one: quit now and get to work on Fallout 4! *dodges tomatoes*

Seriously, if it's going to be Hearthfire sized they might as well infuse some good-natured humor and fun into it.

Maybe they do something further with the Bard's College, give the Dragonborn a couple fun quests with an Adoring Fan-type follower, AND a VOICED Dragonborn singing the Bard's encore!

Hey, Bioware is certainly gonna rip ideas from Bethy for their next DA game...Bethy may as well give it a go. This once.

Personally I would love to see another new area (about the size of Solstheim) of the current TES World. Either Orsinium (because it is now direct at the borders of skyrim), or a bunch of the isles off the coast in direction of Atmora/Akavir.

If those new rumors are partial true the first one seems to involve heavy time travel, or how else would we be able to see living Dwemer and Snow Elves?
And the second one seems like some sort of High King/Thalmor conclusion, which is doubtable because atleast the Thalmor storyline seems far from over and seem to strech atleast into the next game.

I not convinced that there will be anymore content for Skyrim. If Bethesda are going to release something it might be nice if they held onto it for another year whilst they sort out the existing bugs and got the current 3 DLC working on Playstation. I'd like to see either a proper massive city or somewhere that isn't white, grey or brown. Also they need to make it possible to kill Maven Blackbriar and Delphine in the most brutal way possible.

No. Because summoning an earthquake to make all your enemies fall to the ground sounds way more fun than tossing fireballs at them.
