Re: The 'What You Did in Skyrim Today' Thread
Got up fighting Alduin in Sovnguarde with my female Nord priestess of Mara, Aedi. Specialising in Restoration, Skuldafn was hell for her because having just reached level 30 I was facing Draugr Deathlords as normal enmies and my turn undead spells didn't affect them. Normally she can handle them because she has her follower fighting while she heals, but no followers were allowed. But now with the Alduin fight I can sit back and heal Gormlaith, Felldir, Hakon and Tsun, using her wards to block his fire breath.

Re: The 'What You Did in Skyrim Today' Thread
Did 2 Dragonborn Dwemer ruins to completely take care of all 3 Dwemer ruins added by DB. They were all fun and somewhat challenging. I got some neat stuff including gold ingots, 2 unique Dwarven items Visage of Mzund (Dwarven Helmet gives 60+ Stamina, and Breath of Nchuak, which is a Steam attack) and Dwarven Black Bow of Fate (50% chance to absorb 25 points of Health, Stamina, and/or Magic.) Those Dwarven Ballista aren't too tough but they stagger you when their bolts pierce your armor. Now I am gonna craft some items and sell all the generic enchanted junk for more gold.

Re: The 'What You Did in Skyrim Today' Thread
This is a couple days worth of Skyrim. Fired up my Battlemage character for the new Dragonborn DLC. Went to my family home to drop off my crafting supplies, which were rather heavy due to the houses I was building. Had one of my daughters run up to me and ask for an allowance. Never had that request before. Is it new? Anyway, since money means absolutely nothing to me, I paid her the highest possible amount, 1000 gold. Then Serana and I went out for some adventuring in the new territory. Wasn't sure how to get there at first, until some friendly cultists walked up to me and showed me where to get a boat ride. I could say they tried to kill me, but between the town guards, Serana and the fact that I have Dragonbone weapons and armor, that would be giving them far too much credit.
So, Serana and I got on the boat to Solsthiem. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I could indeed bring followers along. Experience with Fallout 3 and not being able to take any of my friends to any of the DLC areas left me worried that I'd be taking this journey solo. Investigated for a while. Found the people of the first town entranced to work around this weird stone. Followed a lead that led me to a temple, where I met a nice young dual wielding Nord chick named Frea. The three of us explored the temple for a while. Then somewhere along the way, Serana and Frea got into some sort of spat, which resulted in Serana repeatedly beating Frea down to the ground, and Frea being too stubborn to realize she's outclassed by the vampire princess. Eventually was forced to reload my last save, since my calm spells were insufficent to quell them. And I've found Voice of the Emperor doesn't work either, since Serana's undead.
Following further exploration, met Miraak, who was enhanced by the secret weapon of all video game bad guys, cut scenes. Found a couple of Black Books which serve as portals into an Oblivion Realm in my pocket. Then I freed several villages from the cursed stones, allowing me to shop and do quests in those towns. Need to find the rest of the words of these new shouts.

Dohvakiin, there are times that I wonder if the only reason you role play having a family in Skyrim is so you always have someone to beat on.
As for myself I got some rare middle of the week playing time. Decided to roam Skyrim with my Snow Elf character, figure out her fighting style. She seems to like archery and staves, rarely uses magic. Killed some random stuff and a dragon. Never used two-handed weapons before so I'm having fun with it.

I'll have you know my characters take great care of their families. The nerve.

It's not really my business what you do in your game, that's up to you for your enjoyment. Between stories, screenshots and random comments you seem to suggest that violence in a marriage is both normal and acceptable. I'm sure the fact that it's video game and not real creates a certain degree of detachment that let's you laugh at the whole thing but for some of us the idea of a spouse flying into a violent rage isn't so amusing.

Re: The 'What You Did in Skyrim Today' Thread
I continued power-leveling From-Blackest-Reaches II.
She's gone from level 66 to level 79. The only skills I have left to train now are Pickpocket (91), Lockpicking (98), Archery (88), and Destruction (89).
I should be able to get that done tomorrow, and then it's onto the real work: doing all the Guilds and the Main Quest.
Doing all this power-leveling definitely makes me realize why I usually use the Scroll of Perfection to instantly jump to Level 81.
So. Tedious.

Re: The 'What You Did in Skyrim Today' Thread
I wandered around Solstheim. Encountered Werebears and killed them after they pursued me. Killed 2 Dragons. Helped a stray dog fight a pack of wolves. Helped 2 groups of Skaal hunters bring down a Bull Netch. Watched an Ash Hopper kill a Fire Wizard. Watched an Ice Wizard kill a Fire Wizard. Killed an Ice Wizard. Killed both an Ice Wizard and Fire Wizard. Killed an Orc, Nord, and a Wood Elf. Cyclone shouted Reavers. Defeated tons of Ash Spawn in hopes of getting good ore from them. (Gold, Ebony, Silver). Desperately tried to get Dreyla Alor to leave Capt. Veleth and get with me. She is a hard one to convince she didn't even want to see my house, Severin Manor.
That is all.

I traveled the Rift, deciding to finally eliminate the bandits at Broken Helm Hollow. While there, I located Leiffnarr and had to return to Heartwood Mill to inform Grosta of the bad news. Felt bad for her son, so I played tag with him. Stopped in at Ivarstead for a meal and some mead at Vilemyr Inn, and also aquired a bounty on a dragon at Autumnwatch Tower. While there, I fought not one, but two Elder Dragons. Then, I visited with Froki at his small hunter's shack where he anointed me for the Trials of Kyne. Finally, I stopped at the shrine of Talos just up the mountain, above Froki's place, to leave an offering and worship.

Re: The 'What You Did in Skyrim Today' Thread
I gave up and used the Scroll of Perfection to jump up to Level 81 with From-Blackest-Reaches.
I only had half a level more to go, but I just wanted to get on with things. I've already wasted enough time power-leveling. I might not be able to complete what I want now if the save continues to increase in size at its current rate.
Other than that, I completed "In My Time of Need" and then started the Companions questline. Twice.
First time around, Vilkas was annoying the heck out of me by constantly complaining about the enchantments on my blades. So I reloaded from before I spoke to Kodlak and crafted myself a nice Dragonbone Greatsword specifically for beating up Vilkas.
Everything went just fine after that, and I was sent to brawl with Sinmir in the Bannered Mare. Went through Dustman's Cairn with no problem and now I've got to go to the Valtheim Keep to kill the bandits living there.
Eh. I got bored, though, and randomly started a Khajiit character.
I felt like doing another mage, and I haven't been a Khajiit in a while. So Ryzani was born.
She's level 81 (Scroll of Perfection, baby), and already a Vampire. I'll just be doing up to the end of Dustman's Cairn for the Companions (to get the Word for Fire Breath), and then I'll roleplay that she couldn't handle it the general reaction her affinity with magic caused, thus causing her to leave for the College of Winterhold. I'll just use Liivrah to get the Word on top of Ysgramor's Tomb.
From there, her darker side would take her to the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild.
She'd do the Imperial side of the Civil War, and the Main Quest.
Ryzani is also a candidate for the Vampire Lord side of Dawnguard.
Assuming I decide to keep her, anyway.

Re: The 'What You Did in Skyrim Today' Thread
Felina, Serana and Meeko adventured their way through the Forgotten Vale today. It was tough for Felina at certain parts since she's still leveling. Vyrthur ripped her a new one a couple times, so finally she ran off a ways and used her fireball staff against him. That finally worked.
So after 5 days on the road, she went home to her family with a crap ton of food, alchemy ingredients, and other supplies. Those kids won't be going hungry for a while. Next is Harkon but I'm afraid. Considering how hard the Vale was for her, I don't know how this one will go.

Did a couple misc quests, hunted giants, explored a couple new places as I ran into them (such as the Abandoned Prison).
Tried to level my Alchemy; I finally got all uses for all items found, and only gained 5 levels! Took a good hour or two real-life as well. I lost patience at that point. xP

Re: The 'What You Did in Skyrim Today' Thread
Lately I've been trying to level up both my Destruction and Alchemy skills up by growing Creep Clusters and Red Mountain Flowers in the gardens of all three of my houses then making loads of Restore Magicka Potions. Only one of my houses I built with a greenhouse, which I regret. I even tried to remodel one of my houses back into an entryway so I could add a greenhouse, but it just didn't work for some reason. I really don't know what I did wrong, I went to the drafting table and chose 'Remodel house into Entryway' or whatever, and it didn't do anything, and the option seems to be completely gone from the drafting table, what the hell? I wonder, how long does it take for a particular plant to grow in a garden or greenhouse?

Re: The 'What You Did in Skyrim Today' Thread
The "Remodel house into entryway" one only turns the small house layout into an entryway for the rest of the house. It won't "reset" your entire house. Once it's built, it's built. There's no going back unless you reload an older save before you built the house.
Anyway, I got Ryzani up to the point just after Dustman's Cairn in the Companions questline.
That's where she is stopping.
Other than that, I started my Dungeon Diving with two varying Atronachs at my side.
I'll do that, and then do the Civil War and Main Quest.

Tried for quite a while to get into the area of mountainous terrain to the west of arcwind point and south-east of fort neugrad.
It seems this perilous tract of rock and ice is guarded by some sort of magical barrier.
The invisible wall killed my immersion yet again. UGH.

Aw, that sucks. If I had built all three houses with a greenhouse I would've been able to yield biblical amounts of ingredients.Mauin wrote:The "Remodel house into entryway" one only turns the small house layout into an entryway for the rest of the house. Well, I fought the Ebony Warrior. Toughest fight I have had yet. Even as a level 80 Battlemage, he killed me twice, quickly, before I was able to beat him.Had to cast Blizzard, Dragon Aspect, Marked for Death and poison my weapons before I was able to best him. Admittedly, I wasn't going completely all out. The game framed this as an honorable duel between great warriors. So I ordered Serana to wait a short way from the camp with Shadowmere. I also did not conjurer any thralls to fight for me.
To honor my foe when I finally took him down, I placed his weapons and armor in the armory of my house in Morthal.
