Re: Dragonborn (DLC) Discussion
So you can't become a werebear?
Also is Apocrypha similar to Soul Cairn (sort of mini world) or is it just a couple dungeons?
Twice and twice shall he be marked, twice to live and twice to die.
Once the heron, to set his path. Twice the heron, to name him true.
Once the Dragon, for remembrance lost. Twice the Dragon, for the price he must pay.

It's like a huge series of mini worlds. You transport to different sections of it usingmulder wrote:So you can't become a werebear? Also is Apocrypha similar to Soul Cairn (sort of mini world) or is it just a couple dungeons?

Re: Dragonborn (DLC) Discussion
there's a plot behind apocrypha's use and it's primarily used for the main quest. Also it helps to have done Mora's deadric quest before going into apocrypha.

Random question. The Greybeards say there is only one dragonborn of this time (player), then you go to Solstheim to find the original dragonborn. But Ulfric Stromcloak is also dragonborn. So there are really 3 right now?

Ulfric isn't Dragonborn. He had to learn the thu'um the hard way.
And Miraak isn't technically from "this time"

Re: Dragonborn (DLC) Discussion
Ulfric isn't Dragonborn. He can use the Thu'um but he can't absorb souls or the power of a dragon like you and Miraak. Furthermore the Greybeards said that you are the only Dragonborn that has been revealed so far. BUT according to books you are the last Dragonborn.
By the way those of you interested in the Skaal clothing. You can find a whole set in Highpoint Tower during the quest Old Friends the full set is found in pieces towards the end of the dungeon on a arch near a skeleton.

Re: Dragonborn (DLC) Discussion
Ulfric is not dragonborn.
Anyone can shout - it's the process of focusing your vital essence into a word or phrase. It isn't limited to nords, anyone can do it, but it requires years if not decades just to learn to do fus. (person dependant)
Also, the Greybeards say that you are the only one they know of, and perhaps the only one of this time.
ETA - considering it's 4 in the morning 3 people posting the exact same thing is pretty unlikely....

Is the skaal clothing the big puffy grey coat with a round hat thing? Those clothes looked pretty cool.Ysmir wrote:Ulfric isn't Dragonborn. I am having a blast! The nostalgia is strong with this one. The only problem is it’s making want to play Skyrim less and start playing Morrowind more.

You can loot Telvanni robes from Lldari Sarathril during the Old Friends quest in Highpoint Tower. Where I mentioned you also get the full set of Skaal clothing. (Boots, Puffy Robe, Hat, and Gloves)

Well your just gonna have to deal with a hole unless you wanna get a needle and thread
Solstheim has given me so much wealth in terms of Gems and Ore. A Thirsk guy said there isn't much metal on the Island. BS! Even if there isn't a lot of metal. (Which is a lie) The place is crawling in gems.

Re: Dragonborn (DLC) Discussion
A somewhat annoying problem with every TES game is that the game mechanics don't always match up well with the lore; i.e., the world as imagined and the world as realized are a little out of sync.Ysmir wrote:Well your just gonna have to deal with a hole unless you wanna get a needle and thread

For example, in every game, major news travels instantaneously; you do something important, and the townspeople all instantly know about it and talk about it. But from a lore or role-playing perspective, the vast majority of long-range communications travel at the speed of a horse, not the speed of light. It's a basic but important distinction that has, believe it or not, caused a headache or two in some lore discussions.
Solstheim is supposed to be somewhat impoverished, even though it's not from the player character's perspective. You might have some perks or completed some quests that increase the quality of your random loot, or it could be that Bethesda just felt the need to load DB with valuable loot due to gameplay considerations. It's not BS, per se, just an incongruity caused by gameplay limitations.
Tl;dr. I'm super bored right now. Away from my xbox.
