Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
How should we focus on the mundane, I'm pretty sure the name Mundus is supposed to be ironic. Nothing is Mundane in Tamriel and saying for get about magic makes no since. The Divines will not solve our problems, or even try. In all examples, they only further their own goals. To defeat Alinor, the Entire Empire must work together, especially at this point, and nick picking on which way is best is pointless. The Empire doesn't need Akatosh to pull more blood out of his chest, it needs a strong leader who does what it takes to defeat the Dominion, because they are a threat to creation. And if a Walking Brass god can do that, all the more power to it.Right-Hand-Of-Sithis wrote:snip for length

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
That's what I meant by Mundane. Now, what will this leader do? We can't simply say 'He'll defeat the Dominion', because that's too general, and it bypasses the problems facing the Empire.Br3admax wrote:How should we focus on the mundane, I'm pretty sure the name Mundus is supposed to be ironic. I don't know if the RP was going to happen, because honestly no one seemed excited for it.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
1. Why did you choose to side with the Empire?
I'm not blinded by ideals. The Thalmor influence is fairly small, and the civil war is making the Thalmor stronger. To defeat the Thalmor, the Empire needs to stand united. Also, I have the ability to forgive the Empire's "attempted beheading" of me. It was one power-tripping jerkwad, not the Empire.
2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionarre or Legion supporter?
Any Legionnare who lifts a sword to defend the Empire.
3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim?
Skyrim has always been a strong province for the Empire. The Nords are among the most reliable of soldiers. And we're going to need reliable soldiers when it's time to take it to the Thalmor...
4. Who do you think should be the High King? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)
Balgruuf. He has his head on straight.
5. Mede Empire vs. Septim Empire?
Gotta love me some Septims.
6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Empire character (roleplaying-wise)?
Kill Stormcloaks. Kill Farmers heading to Windhelm.
7. What is your favourite Legion related quote?
The dying sounds of Stormcloaks and the battlecries of my Imperial brethren.
8: What are your thoughts on the Talos ban?
Small price for a temporary peace. Those who are butt frustrated about it (Ulfric...) need to grow a set and realize the greater good that will come.
9. Have you ever completed the Stormcloak side of the civil war?
Hell no.
10: Is there anything you would change for the betterment of the Empire?
Make me the Emperor? Nah, I'd say it's regain Valenwood, reclaim Skyrim, make sure everything is cool with the Redguards and then go F up the Thalmor.
11. What is your specialization? ( This will allow me to label your group)
The shadows. I am more of a gun for hire who supports the Imperials.

thats what i originally thought this topic was about, a gathering place for imperial supporters to talk about the empire
when talk of RPs came about, i threw in my idea, but it was quickly forgotten, and not being one for serious roleplaying,i backed away from this

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
For the whole RP thing, I offered my suggestion and didn't say much about this after that (Actually I didn't contribute much to this thread TBH). The RP didn't happen because of lack of interest, there was enough people interested and I'd say even more could have been involved if we had allowed the Stormcloaks to be a faction in it. The RP never happened because A) We couldn't get a suitable DM and B) The DM's that did come forward couldn't make up a plot line. To concur I'm still interested in a civil war RP (and I'm sure that there is others that populate the RP subforums and Skyrim subforum would be interested as well.), but it's up to Dika or whoever else to get together and sort the whole RP out because without that then it'll never happen.
Now back to what we all want to discuss, The Legion. I'll try and start a discussion here by asking; Do you think that there is anything else that could have been added, taken away or changed that could have improved the Questline ?
II think the Questline could have been better if we had done more than, Go to Tullius, get sent to a hold and then take a fort (or city if you are lucky.) There could have been all sorts of additions they could have made to make the questline more interesting, like taking some of the other cities or sacking towns etc.

i think the civil war should have been intertwined with the Main Quest, because both of questlines lack what the other one has, so why not have them both complete each other ?

I think Bethesda made an attempt to do this, such as in the quest season's unending, where the Dragonborn tries to help create a ceasefire and the fact that you can't continue on in the Civil War questline until people know your Dragonborn, though I'm sure they could have done this a lot better if they'd really put their minds to it.

Sign me up.
Survey.
1: I side with the Empire all the time because the Stormcloaks are just rabble...and the Legion uniform looks better
2: General Tullius
3: The Empire is better for Skyrim because they maintain Imperial law and order and Skyrim has always been part of the Empire. The Empire also keeps out the Aldmeri Dominion.
4: Jarl Elisif the Fair, because her husband was High King and she would have learned a great deal from him, plus her strong connections with the Empire would help Skyrim.
5: Septim Empire, because they were Dragonborn and would, have beem able to help save Skyrim from the dragons, plus they upheld a strong Empire.
6: I always wear Imperial Armour. I prefer to stay disconnected from the group of Legionaires in case I accidentaly Shout at one of them.
7: "Can't wait to kill another of Ulfrics boys"
8: I tihnk the ban was necessary to preserve the Empire from the destruction of the Aldmeri Dominion.
9: I only did it to get the achievement.
10: Bring back the Legion armour from Morrowind, it looks coller and feircer.
11: Heavy Infantry(Heavy Armour, sword, Block, lots of health and stamina)

indeed, i think they should have included parts in the main quest where the Dovahkiin went to try and speak with the two generals, however they are both on a battlefield, preparing for the next battle, you then head to the fight, try and speak to them and they refuse and the fight is about to start, at which point Alduin arrives, and crushes both armies, first you see him in attack the opposite camp to the one your in, then he approaches the camp you are in and you all run like crazy ... (by the way, i meant you visit the war camps before the attack)Velvet LeChance wrote:I think Bethesda made an attempt to do this, such as in the quest season's unending, where the Dragonborn tries to help create a ceasefire and the fact that you can't continue on in the Civil War questline until people know your Dragonborn, though I'm sure they could have done this a lot better if they'd really put their minds to it.
this would not only be a display of Alduins power (as he obliterates 2 armies in a matter of minutes) but would also act as an example of the futility of the war, and how the dragon threat is much bigger, making the Main Quest have that little bit more emotional impact

Yeah, but then the cpu would scream, "AAAAAAAAAAAAH! SO MUCH, IMPERIALS, STORMCLOAKS, DRAGONS! No...No......NOOOOOOOOOO!" *crash* There are some limits to what the game can handle on consoles. We should have had to unite Skyrim and face an army of dragons. You know, like a second Dragon War.

we should have united them, but the game never displayed the dragons as enough of a threat, it never made them strong enough to need the might of two armies to defeat

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
1. Why did you choose to side with the Empire?
Because Skyrim needs the Empire and the Empire needs Skyrim.
2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionarre or Legion supporter?
Rikke and Brunwulf Free-Winter. I'm also drawn to Legate Fasendil for some reason.
3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim?
Because The Empire needs everyone they can get for the Dominion, otherwise things would get bad for both The Empire and Skyrim.
4. Who do you think should be the High King? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)
Rikke, because she understands Skyrim and the Nords. But if i have to pick a Jarl, Elisif is my choice.
5. Mede Empire vs. Septim Empire?
Septim Empire. Because there was more peace.
6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Empire character (roleplaying-wise)?
7. What is your favourite Legion related quote?
"I do what I must do. I cannot stay to rebuild Tamriel. That task falls to others. Farewell. You've been a good friend, in the short time that I've known you. But now I must go. The Dragon waits." -Martin Septim
8: What are your thoughts on the Talos ban?
A unfortunate but necessary decision.
9. Have you ever completed the Stormcloak side of the civil war?
Yes, just to see how that side ends.
10: Is there anything you would change for the betterment of the Empire?
11. What is your specialization? ( This will allow me to label your group)
I use my enchanted Imperial sword for close combat, and i use the bow for long range combat. (If you dont mind i would like to be a Auxiliary.)
Because Skyrim needs the Empire and the Empire needs Skyrim.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Okay, this may be considered trolling, but does entire group believe the White-Gold Concordat was necessary?
It was evident that, after annihilating the entire Aldmeri Invasion force, that the Thalmor where weakened to the point where they had to accept peace, why else would they accept the peace treaty when they could have fought on. As such, the term sof the the White-Gold Concordat where not necessary, as the Emperor could have pushed for more equal terms.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Certain terms of the White-Gold concordat were utter BS. The talos ban being a chief offender, however the empire was also tired and weakened. The Aldmeri Dominion's lands hadn't been torn by war like Cyrodiil had been only weeks ago. But I agree, a true imperial soldier fights to the death, the thalmor just happened to be very good at manipulation and politics. I'll have to say this though, even if a better tactician was in charge of the imperial defense, some kind of formal accord would have been hammered out. The emperor should have pushed for better terms though. Betraying your allies(Hammerfell) and banning a divine revered in your one of your strongest provinces(Skyrim) was a terrible decision.

Banning the worship of a divine, who is still worshipped in secret, was small price to pay for the end of a brutal conflict that was bound to have cost many, many more innocent lives. Selling out Hammerfell, was a more difficult pill to swallow. That's how I would suppose Emperor Mede saw things anyway. He had no reason to love the Septims overly much after all.
