Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I have been feeling quite motivated as of late, getting lots of homework and writing done (thank you mental clarity herbs). This morning though, was awesome. Since its still pitch black outside until almost 9am, I did some homework and things around the house before seeing a gorgeous sunrise in blue and orange sweep over the inlet. The huge floating chunks of ice in the water reflected the light. So amazing, right from my front porch.

I don't know what to do with myself. It's hard to even think about getting back to school.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Kill me now: I have spent the last two hours on public transit and am still no closer to being home. Even worse, all the rerouting from the hurricane means I have to detour through Hoboken, and I had a crazy bus driver who refused to let us off in dead stop traffic half a NYC block from the terminal until we begged, so I was late for class. How mortifying. It is amazing how little disruptions to your daily schedule feel so earth shattering, but are pointless given the bigger picture...

Gahhh... It's the little things that make or break a day.
I think my favourite saying is 'thank God for small favours.'
So, how bad is public transit hit in general?

I can tell you gasoline prices in good ol' TX went up fifty cents in response to the hurricane, since approximately 0.00001% of all oil consumed in Texas comes from the east coast.

Last week we had no evening trains, so improving, if slowly. But everything north is an awful mess. And my train still hasn't left. Gaaaahhh. This area is too densely populated and too underprepared for this.Eltee wrote:So, how bad is public transit hit in general?
And some people still don't have power...or homes. My family friend posted a jovial and depressing photo of him smiling from atop the pile of rubble that was once his home. Small blessings, indeed.

Had to go and see my ex today. I recieved some paperwork from back when I was studying, to do with her job at the time, and had to go help her fill it out.
Needless to say, it was [&@%!] awkward, and I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet.
I'm not going to bore you all with the sad story behind this, but if anyone remembers my [&@%!] about not sleeping, a couple months ago, THIS was the main reason behind it.
I don't know whether I DON'T care anymore, or if I do. And it's highly confusing.
On a brighter note, (sort of) the stupid tape that the Specialist put on my arm to hold my broken hand straight, feels like it's slowly ripping the hair out of my entire forearm. 1 by 1.

Well, I defended my best friend from public slander and bullying and harassment this morning. Facebook enables people to become angry mobs. But I'm not letting this sh*t go on. Nuh uh. When Baloth steps into the ring, they're getting backhanded with cold, hard facts and careful wording. If they continue, I have the know how and the evidence to present our side to the high school, whereupon all of the idiots shall be smacked, and if they don't stop, I imagine the school would pursue legal action.
Kinda sucky part is that I'm probably losing a newish friend over it, because she was one of the people attacking my best friend. But, then, she really isn't worth it, I suppose. And I am NOT letting her get away with dat crap.

While I hate my job, I like the people and it does pay for the bills. The only person here who is better than me has an interview on Thursday. So, I have job security simply because he can't replace 3 people at the end of the month. Not that I am in any sort of jeopardy. But still, ugh.

Today I tidied and cleaned my rooms and reorganized things. Got rid off old posters and stuff made a lot of space by moving around different objects... The cleaning, well... I think a lot of people wouldn't call it cleaning... I just vacuumed both rooms...

Man, been waking up at 6:30am for the past couple weeks and it feels great. I have alone time in the morning to do my practices and drink my chai in peace. Then, my husband woke up at the same time as me this morning. I love him dearly...but chica likes her alone time in the morning. :/

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
The past few days have been pretty good overall. Nothing of real importance happened until fourth period, my theater class. Since the all school show opens in 2 days she needed help with some technical stuff. In the process of the past couple days she has had me make a flier for the show (Fun fonts, picture from the internet), a book cover (Just some word art and a graph.) and burn a couple disks. (The first was a simple intercom buzzer sound effect, the second was narration for the show. The problem is that the files she gave me for the narration were m4a files and our older than me sound system couldn't play it, so I had to go home and convert them to something it could play. All of this tech stuff is just foreign to my director.) She is slowly beginning to see what I'm good at in comparison to the other techies, computer work.
What was kinda sad though, is that at one point in the rehearsal a guy missed his cue, so I was standing there with only one other guy standing next to me and a bunch of girls, the room is dead silent. Me, being the master of improv at my school, just get a smirk on my face, "so, did you catch the game last Saturday between the Groundhogs and the Chipmunks?" (the team names play importance to the show.) I continue for a bit, the guy standing next to me freaking out that he's going off script. I managed to stall for time pretty effectively, I just have to hope that I don't have to do that for the real show. If only one of the people from my improv troupe were the ones standing next to me at that point, I could have done it a lot better. But I still did pretty well.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I studied some more of my Driver's Training manual while simultaneously modding Skyrim.
I was doing a request for my Liivrah (which has since, rather annoyingly, been ignored) and working on some more custom eye and hair colors.
Of course, I finally got around to transferring some files onto my laptop a few minutes ago and discovered the battery is completely gone on it.
Suppose that's what I get for ignoring it for... What, a couple of months now? Not that it really matters to me. I always use it plugged in anyway, and since I don't go to school anymore, it isn't a problem at all. All I really use it for is writing considering the thing sucks for gaming. Heck, it even lags while playing Morrowind. Which is why I ♥ my bipolar desktop.
Edit:
I got my laptop working properly again.
I'll put it in as little technical terms as possible and say that my laptop simply forgot it had a battery.
Went to see if it would still work if I unplugged it, and it did. So turned it off and took out the battery. When it was put back in and the laptop turned back on, it suddenly realized it did have a fully charged battery.
So if it decides to pull that trick again, I'll know what to try.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Dang, registering for classes is stressful. Just 2 hours until my registration time. I'm getting into the home stretch here, graduating next fall, so it's pretty crucial that I get all the classes I need right now. One I'm not worried about at all, two have 8 and 6 spots left so I'll probably get in those, and one has only ONE SPOT left. It's stayed that way for the last three hours that I've been watching it; hopefully I'm good for the next two...

I sure don't miss undergraduate registration time. It was chaotic and nerve wrecking. Thankfully I am in a major with few peers, so I usually got lucky, and my university actually would not let people outside the department register until we all had first. That was awesome! Almost time for me to pick new classes myself...but graduate classes are different.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Yeah, I noticed that and hoped I wasn't coming across that way. xD I really am a cheerful person, I promise. I've just got more stress than usual at the moment what with doing all sorts of crazy schoolwork in order to graduate a semester early, and this whole thing with my grandpa. I did spend the summer being a useless blob though and hope to do so again during break.Mars wrote:Does your life involve anything that isn't incredibly stressful? That's mostly how I am; I'm double-majoring in two computer majors, and the computer department's one of the smaller ones (my school's mostly known for natural resources), and there's only one class that's a general class open to everyone. I've been taking lots of credits so that I can graduate early, as I mentioned, so at first it gave me a bit of an edge over the others in my grade, but now I've got so many that I'm getting to the point where I'm competing with people a grade above and they get first pick! Assuming I can fit these all in, though, it will be nice to get out early (and save the money I would have spent on another semester too).Avron the S'wit wrote:I sure don't miss undergraduate registration time.
