Dropping a certain quest-essential item (spoilers)

I've noticed several quest-essential items in my inventory that I can't remove, even after the quest is over. The problem is they all have a weight, and the reason I'm bringing this up is because the Elder Scroll weighs 20 pounds. Now, I'd like to make it a nice centerpiece in my home since the main quest is over, but if that's not possible how do I go about deleting it?

M'afraid you can't keep the Elder Scroll at all without deleting it. You can, however, sell it to the Librarian at the College of Winterhold for 600gp. This item is also needed for the Dawnguard questline, though, so if you have that downloaded it's worth keeping until the end of that, then sell it to the librarian,
