My bad, I posted this in the wrong forum, I am a bit too worked up to think properly, sorry about that lol! Feel free to move this to general discussion.
I recently reformatted my PC for the first time since moving to the middle of nowhere and getting slower than slow internet "95% slower than the world average according to speedtest", I guess the people in Vietnam have it worse than me but seriously!
It took me 4 minutes exactly to open this page while downloading and about 2 otherwise.
My connection kind of goes between 300-500kb/sec usually around 350 from what I've noticed which is a lot of faster than Dial up but wait! My download speeds are only about 25kb/sec so it's debatable as to whether that's true or not.
To add insult to injury my work schedule is this
(First of all I live 30 miles from the nearest town and my workplace so gas is high.)
Sunday- 6am-6:30am and 7pm-3:30am
Monday- 5:00pm-6:00pm, back at 9-11:pm
Tuesday-8pm-10pm come back at 12-1:30am
Wednesday-off
Thursday- 8:30pm-3am
I make minimum wage.
As you can see the profit margin is slim after I add up bills and the insanity inducing scheduling is god awful at best. The only reason I'm working this joke of a job is because as I said, I live in the middle of nowhere. I actually have to sleep in my car or play my DS handheld in between some of the split shifts so I can avoid having to drive back and forth, the town is so small that there is little more than a park so that's about all there is to do.
I've explained to my boss that I live 30 miles away and to schedule me in 8 hour chunks instead of fragmented days and she just doesn't care at all and tells me to take it or she will hire somebody else as there are thousands of people that would die to have my job. I'm sure there are people in Africa or another third world country that might but Joe from down the street wouldn't.
I mean I've worked for fast food at minimum wage in my teens and it was far superior to this job, I even got a 30cent raise after 3 months unlike this one. I miss being scheduled to make Taco's in 8 hour shifts and getting free lunch's! Now I am doing slave labor as a stockboy at a grocery store which doesn't sound bad and the job itself isn't... but the schedule is atrocious.
Sorry about all the ranting, I would just love some advice as to how I can fix this issue without getting fired from yelling at my boss.
What do you think of this work schedule?

Ouch, that schedule really does induce vomiting.
Is there any chance that it will get more regular as you get more experience?

I sure hope so lol, I'm just thankful I have a nice supply of malt liquor in the fridge.

Re: What do you think of this work schedule?
are there any work colleagues you can swap times with?
is there anything else you like to do/are good at? eg writing, evil genius schemes or art? these in between hours could be useful for your own projects. I've had jobs where i was stranded between sessions for a few hours at a time, it's crappy but really you have to decide if its worth it.Sounds like youre borderline, so you probably should look out for other work and soldier on.
sorry i dont have a better plan, that must have taken 10 minutes to read as well
good luck

Sorry, I have been really busy lately so I haven't had a chance to type back. Nope, there's 3 people on my shift including me, the other 2 people work days as well and we don't really get along anyways. I'm dealing with it but it requires that I drink a few strong beers after getting home.

Download speeds (opposed to connection speeds) are usually expressed in KB (Kilo bytes) instead of Kb (Kilo bits). 1 KB/s ~= 8 Kb/s, so you're probably downloading at ~200Kb/sTravalanche wrote: It took me 4 minutes exactly to open this page while downloading and about 2 otherwise.

Sorry to hear about your job troubles, though - that's a very inconvenient schedule
