I did that once too, but I chose Shadow and roleplayed as a Shadowscale. One of my (if not THE) favorite games to date.

I once made a breton assassin, it was nice but a real sneaky assassin might be more fun than an invisible mage.

I chose the Shadow aswell for my argonian assasian so he could be shadowscale but I realised I wasnt using moonshadow at all so it was pretty pointless for me

is it safe to use the console to change birthsigns in the middle of a game because you (okay me) didnt pick the right one at the start?

could there be major complications like not having either birthsigns attributes?

im in the middle of a game so i haven't maxed out any thing

I didn't either. I used invisibility, but only the spell I bought off M'raaj-Dar; it's cheap and 35 seconds is almost always plenty of time. I only chose Shadow for roleplaying on purposes.

Race: I'd suggest Wood Elves, nothing beats the marksmanship and sneak bonus.

Birthsign: The Shadow makes a feasible birthsign, but as Cactus and a few others said; you may find you rarely use it, I no exception. I use Redguard Fortification 3x as much as I do the Shadow birthisgn. The Thief Birthsign is probably the most beneficial since it gives a luck bonus.

Major Class Skills:

Alchemy simply is a must for mundane characters.

Marksmanship, obviously, given the design of OB, your main skill for flat damage.

A weapon skill (Hand to Hand included), for when you lose your bow or something comes into your melee range.

Sneak, obviously.

Security's a good one for assassins, 'specially thieves and dungeon creepers.

Acrobatics works nicely for getting away when you need too.

Light Armor's another obvious one, although unless you mod the game, Heavy Armor outshines Light Armor once boot weight no longer matters and you're no longer encumbered by either because of Heavy Armor's durability.

I'd agree with this, though if you plan to do Vampire as well, make it a Dunmer instead (for the Fire Resistance, and Blade bonus). (and height) Otherwise, go with the Bosmer...

Forget Alchemy as a major skill, if you use it a lot, it will raise plenty fast enough without being a major. Just make a lot of Restore Fatigue potions early on, and your skill will rise quickly (so will your gold)...

Although i wouldnt suggest having Acrobatics as a major, It levels fairly easy, and theres Alot of other skills that would be more helpful.

The only time that comes into play is when you need to do a jump attack.

Or if you want to get onto a rooftop for safety (or just being unfair). Or if you want to disarm your bow without wasting the poison dose on it. Or get around that sword-wielding Marauder on the stairway.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

The key is to jump around a lot. I make it a minor skill, the just go around the game jumping, it levels fairly well. It's still slow, though.

What do you mean by that?

Off of personall experiance, i dont have acrobatics as a major, and im clearin fences. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop. Cant straight clear a guy tho, maybe a wolf.... But who needs to jump over a "Murader" on a set of stairs? I mean if you are an assassin, you shoulda sniped him well before that ;)

In replace of acrobatics I would probably choose illusion or some other magic skill you prefer.

From your initial response, the only gain you lauded from selecting Acro as a Major was unlocking the ability to attack from a jump.

What you didn't say is that particular (Apprentice-level) ability is absolutely neccessary if you want to jump while an arrow is nocked on your bowstring.

And what you may not have known is that the Journeyman-level Acro perk, the ability to Dodge, will allow you to remove an arrow that is nocked on your bow.

Find yourself with a drawn bowstring and no target to loose that little arrow into? Well, you can: 1) shoot the ground and waste whatever poison or charge on the weapon; 2) search far and wide in the wilds for a friendly NPC to talk to (conversation resets the bow to a resting position); or 3) simply Dodge and keep the shot for later use.

Acrobatics as a Major unlocks the jumping attack (and the ability for a bow-wielding assassin to actually jump while primed and ready to shoot). And it'll get you to Journeyman faster, which is a nice little perk if you're using poisons and enchanted arrows (and happen to be a little stingy as to just where said poisons and arrows get shot into). And it'll get you up to the higher levels of Acrobatics quicker if you happen to be ambushed, cornered, or otherwise pranged to all heck and need to outmaneuver your enemies on a three-dimensional basis.

—"Murader"?

Man ive always had that problem with an arrow left in my bow >< I didnt know it was called nocked or whatever. Shot the ground soooo many times. But i would never poison my bow without seeing anything to shoot at.

I would rather outrun my enemy, or kill it, before having to find something to jump ontop of.

Oh, and sorry you couldnt tell what i meant....

Murader
Marauder

Pretty close if you ask me...

I only nock a poisoned or magic arrow when I have a definite and decent target in my sights...no need to waste good magic on a rat... I never walk around with a nocked arrow...as my targets never even know I'm there until I want them to...
