I came here looking for a political thread to talk about the US Presidential debate, but ended up spending half an hour scrolling through a Pokemon thread...........

Re: Pokemon!
Really? That's unfortunate. Based on the many different people on these forums, I feel as though there could have been some interesting debates. Oh well, at least there's still Pokemon and Elder Scrolls haha.

Re: Pokemon!
Stormcloaks vs Empire is political too lol, but anyways I think the Pokemon genre was at it's climax During Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald (best pokemon game imo) and has taken a turn for the worse ever since when it came to Pokemon design. Yeah the original 150 are the best looking but Ruby/sapphire designs were passable and overall decent plus Emerald had far better features than Black/White, I own all the Pokemon games and Emerald is definitely the most well thought out with all it's features (some are pointless now such as secret bases but still nice to have).
Red version was my first Pokemon experience and I still have the cartridge with my Pokemon on it today but I need to finish it's Pokedex somehow lol! It's just that I was in like third grade when Red/Blue came out and wasn't developed enough mentally to know what I was doing and my team had random types and no real strategy.
I was actually able to create logical strategies and knew what I was doing by Sapphire generally and had a heck of a team I must admit. Also the Mount Pyre theme song is still in my mind today and I can still hum the song in full lol, EXCELLENT bgm, I caught a Shuppet there which turned into my favorite pokemon for that game which was odd as I generally don't like Ghost types, it just had a good sprite and moves I guess?
ALSO, How has Ash not aged???? He should be one year older than me yet he looks and acts like an infant, I mean the strategies he uses in the New anime season (I watched 2 episodes) are a joke, it's like he has forgotten EVERYTHING he has learned from his years of experience!

Re: Pokemon!
I agree. Everything up through the third generation was awesome and then it was all downhill from there. They have a freakin' ice cream cone pokemon now! It's really sad haha. As for the shows, I didn't like any of them after the second generation. Ash started to [&@%!] me off after that.

Re: Pokemon!
I'm really thinking about getting back into Pokemon. While I could just download all of the ROMs for the games I want online... it's just not the same. Right now I'm really looking forward to getting HeartGold.

Re: Pokemon!
You can get the games for a pretty decent price from Amazon.com. I just recently bought LeafGreen and I've been looking into getting Sapphire next (never had a DS so I can't get HG/SS). The games bring back great memories!

Re: Pokemon!
On the subject of the "Ice Cone": Generation 1 had a pokémon the was a pile of goo. Hack, they had three. The same number of ice cones. There's always stupid designs, and always good designs. In my opinion, what's worst about pokémon is the fact that people keep saying one is better than another. No offense.
And even if I agreed with you on the design question, then B/W arguably had a much better thought out story than the other games. It really had a vibe and was gripping. It perhaps went a little bit over the top in the end, but it was a good story. I got invested in it. I did not get invested in the story in Gold and Silver when I played them.

Re: Pokemon!
Ugh, so much to buy. So I think I'm going to get a new copy of Emerald (I lost my Sapphire years ago), and HeartGold as well to play with some of my favorite Pokemon. And maybe Black and White 2 eventually, we'll see how it goes.

Bought White 2 last week. It's a fine enough game, but I can't work out much story in it. And your rival's kind of a d*ck.

Re: Pokemon!
Bianca was the weakest I mean.. You were good against her main fricking pokémon.
Chern was harder but a bit easy if you knew how he worked..
and N was the hardest of the lot.. you go against him at the end..

I beat all of them and N was an annoying little brat. All he did was complain on how his pokemon weren't strong and didn't want to fightThe-Shadow-One wrote:Bianca was the weakest I mean.. You were good against her main fricking pokémon.

Re: Pokemon!
I could look, but I'm too lazy and tbh he didn't have to say that his pokemon were weak cause I beat him the first time without losing more than 50 HP on my first pokemon

Re: Pokemon!
That doesn't make any sense then. You said that he complained about his pokémon being weak. I ask you to prove that, and you don't and instead claim that they ARE weak because you beat him on the first try. I'm not going to dig into your statement, since I have no idea how much you grinded and all, but I will say that those two statements hold absolutely no connection at all, and right now, to me, it looks like you're just trying to do everything you can to make B/W seem like it sucks. Really, please, stop it.
And au contraire, he did actually want to fight. He wanted to put what he thought was right to the test because he wasn't sure anymore. He never said he didn't want to battle. He said he didn't want to hurt pokémon, but that is not the same.

Re: Pokemon!
I don't care really, you can come to whatever conclusion you desire but I guess the gist of what I was trying to say is that I found N weak and I did no grinding of any sort tbh.

Re: Pokemon!
Then I will choose to either count you very lucky or pulling me a third one.
And I don't mind that you find N weak. All I'm saying is that you finding him weak does not equal N complaining about being weak. That equals YOU complaining about N being weak. All I'm saying is that you can find him weak, and I sorta get that. He was kind of easy to beat in many of the battles. But you saying he's a whiny brat really hasn't gotten any reasoning behind it yet.

Re: Pokemon!
yeah, I'm little frazzled, I have need to watch what I say sometimes. Anyway I did find N to be rather weak and I srsly did not grind cause I really don't have the patience for it, rather I just used the right type of moves and I got most his pokemon down in two to three hits

Re: Pokemon!
Even Zekrom/Reshiram?
The one thing I doubt is the "Only lost 50 hp" thing. Not for a second that you could beat him without losing any pokémon. But with only one losing Hp? And less than 50? I hope you'll excuse my scepticism.

Reshiram wasn't too hard but I found N easier, Reshiram actually withstood paralysis, poisoning and and 50 ultra balls
I understand the skepticism is understood, the key is switching out at the right time. When he uses dragon type I used my Gyrados and spammed ice beam

Re: Pokemon!
No, I mean battling the legendary N used. And I still only doubt that you only lost 50 hp with your first pokémon. Because if you put Reshiram on your team, it's automatically put in front, and whatever legendary you have, it's almost impossible to take down the other one without losing most of your HP. And even then, switching out to a Gyarados against Zekrom, who has that "Something-or-other Bolt" move isn't that smart. It would take one hit and then that gyarados would be down.
That is of course ignoring that you cannot obtain a Gyarados in B/W before clearing the Elite Four.

That's what trading is for, I started with a crappy magicarp my friend traded me and I used up mot of potions keeping Reshiram alive, after that it was smooth sailing
