What would your villain be?

Post by tatortodd22 »

This could be the shadow of the "Your Skyrim Character" thread, much like that villain is to you. I just thought, what if I had this classic villain in all of my roleplays? Almost like a Moriarti figure for the characters I play. It would be difficult, surely, designing your own villain...it's like playing chess with yourself. But if you had the option, who would your nemesis, your villain, your opposite, be? What would his race, his goal, his personality be?

I think I may have fun coming up with this sort of character. I may already have a foundation with my most recent roleplay of Hodlin Truesteel, and his fellow Gilded Chieftain Hulgar, who murders Hodlin's wife to hide their affair. Maybe I could expand on him... I will have to see how creative I can be with this. Anyone have any ideas of their own?

Stupid idea, or no? The random attacks on your Hearthfire house could have a source now

I like to imagine that it's the attempts on my characters' lives by assassins and random-race individuals on the roads that have a source; for both of my characters, I imagine some sort of enemy from back home who's only just followed their trail up to Skyrim.

If I had the option, Vu Medomé's nemesis would be one or more old business acquaintances from Cyrodiil who are looking to collect the bounty on his head. Race Breton, Khajiit or Imperial; personality Standard Scumbag Drug Dealer ™.

Is it a "Gus" type of drug dealer, or a "Jesse" type character? hahaha

Well being the dragonborn Automatically kinda makes Alduin my characters villain ... but this is a good idea

my character has been all over the place in his backstory , so its difficult to give him one lone person or group that stands against him :P

I don't see it as having one evil nemesis. Skyrim is a cornucopia of twisted wrong-doers, it is my duty to ferret them out and make the gameworld a better place for the innocent citizens.

For me, I feel like the second you beat them in your first playthrough, the entire experience of that villain is obsolete. You know what they will do and how you beat them. But with a really personal villain, personal to your own nature as a gamer, as a person, his methods and his story is only limited by your imagination. His motives could be the perfect opposite of your own. For instance, if your goal is freedom and independence for all, your villain may try to rob people of their rights by sponsoring the Thalmor and installing a corrupt political figure.

I've got a 5 hour drive today... I'll probably brainstorm most of the way on my possible villain. :)

I want a villain that I can apply to all games, or atleast all TES games. Like "that dragon crisis sounds good and all, but I can't wait to see what....Nivek?....has in store for me.

My favorite villains are ones that the PC can relate to. Like trying to right the wrongs or a villain that actively tries to recruit me (similar to dagoth Ur). Also this villain should be female, a dark mistress (Not Avron) that has been pulling strings behind the scenes, someone who was your friend or someone you knew early on in the quest or maybe someone in the background like slenderman always watching.

[&@%!] slenderman, Mercer Frey was a much more interesting villain though his abilities are a little overhyped

You should have put this in General then, we would love to do that there. But here, you have to expect Skyrim related things.

Depends on the choices your character makes Br3ad. Though if she was a "friend" it would make an excellent "saddest moment" for the next TES

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

The person who stole my sweetroll. Whoever stole it will taste the power of my voice. And the guards do nothing about it unless it's all part of a massive conspiracy against the Dragonborn to ensure he never gets a sweetroll.

My current character's main villain is the Dominion as they murdered his entire family. One by one, he will take them down untill either he dies or they give up.

Paarthunax would be my nemesis. If you side with Esbern and the blades, P just says, "[&@%!] this, i helped you take care of Alduin and repressed my nature for centuries in order to teach you maggots my wisdom and knowledge of the Thu'um. No longer! you shall re learn the true meaning of my name!"

and off he goes. At first you encounter random dragons which seem to be scouting you out and dont really do much except a flypast breath attack. Then you hear of the dragon cult re emerging, and dragon priests (both undead and new living ones) causing havoc at the edges of the holds. You personally are attacked by cultists and dragons, your allies start doubting you and you risk loss of status and friendship amongst them as more and more dragon attacks destroy farms and harass trade routes. The Thalmor also would get involved, in some nefarious and double dealing way, using this new disruption to their ends

One potential problem in TES that arch villains have to face is that as soon as the PC meets him in combat he's pretty much dead (what with game saves and the utter grossness you can give your hero), unless you make him an essential npc which is a bit weak imo. So P would be a good baddie cos he can fly off and call dragons etc to cover him, plus he can hide out of reach and so has a natural defense which is itself challenging to overcome. So in a final showdown you would have had to track him down, dragonrend him and deal with his wingmen dragons/followers, and would need all the companions/summoned heroes/dragons at your disposal.

The final battle would probably break the game if you were on a 360 but would be cool

I think though that nemeses need to be relevant to your hero, for example

if you're a stormcloak then Ulfric could be your nemesis (you beat the empire together but now you have resolve the balance of power as he sees you as a threat to his leadership)
Maven Blackbriar if youre a thief who has completed that plotline
if you run the dark brotherhood, then the Morag Tong is after you, striking from their secret base in the grey quarter etc

I want to thumb up this so bad!

Maven Black Briar is a great in game villain to choose. They don't delve too deep into her, just her relations with anybody. I may have missed a quest or something but she doesn't ever like disappear. So yeah she would be a great actor for your villain.

I still am having trouble of imagining one and thinking how I could incorporate him into my gameplay at the same time. It's tough man. Creativity is a b.

sorry, i thought you were asking from the pov of making a mod or something lol
Spoiler:
there are several named hagravens in the game you could have as nemesises - maybe they killed your family or something and then split up and are now causing trouble with their foresworn followers

It would be a classic tale of revenge - you'd have to track them all down via several quests including Sams drinking game, and Illia in darklight tower ( http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Illia - who is a candidate for possible wife if you want to RP making good from the bad situation)

When you have killed them all, you can use the heads from the fighter story as trophies in your new house built upon the ashes of your childhood home which was destroyed by the witches

My DB assassin in Skyrim survived the events of Oblivion with her youth intact namely because she became a vampire somewhere in the intervening 200 years.

Her nemeses would have to be the vampires who condemned her to a 'life sentence'— she was cured of vampirism shortly before coming to Skyrim. It was an involuntary action.
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.
