Re: Project Skywind.
I wouldn't be sure about this, the last months there were many mods up at Steamworkshop which used textures from Morrowind or Oblivion. I didn't look for a while so maybe they were taken down, but as far as I can remember some where up around 2-3 months already.

Re: Project Skywind.
Bethesda's original problem with Morroblivion was the publishing of Morrowind's game files. If I'm reading the Skywind page correctly, it uses a tool to import these files locally, forcing the player to buy both Morrowind and Oblivion for the mod to work correctly, meaning no copyright violation.Cardbird wrote:WIP, but if it's the same as Morroblivion..beth's lawyers won't like it.

I've got to admit, it looks pretty awesome. I didn't even think it was possible to simply convert the resources from Morrowind without re-doing everything by hand.

Wow... I knew that they were working on it, but I didn't know they were this far. And the Morrowind Graphics Overhaul 3.0 is coming out in the next few days... I'm kind of conflicted now.

Re: Project Skywind.
Seeing as Skyrim's graphics engine works pretty much the same as Morrowind's, save the addition of advanced shading (really, that's the only difference between Morrowind and Oblivion), Ed can't imagine that transferring the resources would be all that hard. Maybe it has a certain backwards compatibility too, perhaps why Morrowind works well on brand new PC's. Other than that, the .nif file type architecture has remained the same.ClockworkCadaver wrote:I've got to admit, it looks pretty awesome. Though the textures look pretty awful, Ed does hope they update it to work properly with the Skyrim engine.

Re: Project Skywind.
Anyone checked out the new(ish) videos up on YouTube of the current version of the project? Okay so they're a month old, but still, i can't ait for this to reach a playable state, even if that will probably be months, if not years, away.

You're not the only one. The poster of the video responded to comments on the subject with this:Deandra wrote:It really bothers me that all of the trees in the IC are dead.
Uhmmm, yeah, the lack of tree leaves and such is because we haven't even started on Oblivirim(Oblivion in Skyrim's engine). Hell, the only thing we worked on so far for Oblirim was working doors for a few cities. We're working on Skywind(Morrowind in Skyrim's engine) at the moment.
I think they're focusing on Morrowind at the moment, with Oblivion a secondary project.

Hold your breath, then; Skywind is probably not coming out for many, many months.DikaSmausha wrote:I want morrowind in Skyrim so bad.

Are they going to redo all the spells and equipment from Morrowind too?

Re: Project Skywind.
I can't answer that last question at this time, but if people, like DikaSmausha, want Morrowind in Skyrim, there is also another project called Return to Morrowind which aims to create the world-space of Morrowind within Skyrim, using the accurate 4E201 time-frame.

The scale of some of these Mod-Projects is just beyond epic.

Re: Project Skywind.
Skyblivion and Skywind aim to eventually port both Morrowind and Oblivion into Skyrim. Beyond that, it's unlikely much more will be done. Daggerfall and Arena are incompatible with the format of the later games, simply by virtue of the different design direction. The scales are way off between the older and newer games in the series.Master Z wrote:I just want skybliviowindaggerena.

Re: Project Skywind.
Shadow of Morrowind the skyrim mod requiring dragonborn looks to make Morrowind part of skyrim but during the same timeframe (after the eruption of red mountain. Immersion wise i kinda like this better then Skywind but i will probably try both eventually, seeing as i never finished morrowind.(The only bethesda game ive actually finished the main quest in is FO3 i always get sidetracked or make a new character, i like to roleplay and play Dead is dead, so if they die i restart completely it makes it funner for me.)
