racemenue

Post by swtrse »

Is there a way to get access of to the menu (for example) via script direct or indirect?
Is the menue and the script hardcoded or placed somewhere in the oblivion master file?
Is there an way to make the variables that used for the menu visible without knowing there name?
Is there a way to get the name of unknown variables?

It would help realy much if someone can answere this questions (positive) ^^^.

1. Perhaps a google search will bear fruit, I know the command list is around... Or take some time browsing the UESP Wiki. I have a sneaking suspicion it can be found there too!
2. I believe so.
3. I very much doubt it.
4. If you don't know them how do you know they exist?

Sorry if it seems that I'm being difficult but I think you would best start by learning more about TES scripting, perhaps start with Morrowind first as there are some EXCELLENT tutorials and documents about.

Hope that helps.

ad 1.) Well not realy.
ad 2.) Do you belive that it's hardcoded or in the Oblivion.esm file?
ad 3.) well thats bad
ad 4.) That is easy...for example in racemenue there are sliders...somewhere the value of that sliders has to be stored->in variables ;) so they are there.

I belive I know enouth about scripting only the racemenu gives me splitting headache.

Well I had written an algorithm that can fix choosen sliders on the choosen value. However the only thing left is the variables of the sliders where I can write these values.

I would prefer this, the other way would be...Change the chardata in the file where its saved (I think its in the savefile ^^) or write a memory hack that locates the values in memory and directly replaced them there....

The info you need is within the "CharGenQuest" script.
I've only briefly glanced over it but you should find what you're looking for. I have a niggling suspiscion that changing this info resets your skill/level info but I'm not certain...

Hope that helps.

1. AFAIK the menu is written in XML, may be hard to edit and completely different from all the other modding stuff, but will provide necessary info including either variable names or script function names (which in order contain the variables) and be bound to given scripts.
2. Some functions (backend) are hardcoded but the looks, layout, what button is where and when pressed does what etc is all editable XML. Start from BTMod or such for easier startup :)
3. ???
4. Profit!

HEUREKA

I found an solution.
Now it is possible to set the Sliders manually.
However it is not very komfortable and you cannot change the face based on what you get if you set manualy the sliders.
A solution is just in mind.....

can anyone tell me if its possible to acces global values from xml?

i found me() parent() and screen() are there a source the can get values for global values? Are ther any documentation about xml in oblivion and possible commands?

Ok I will write a guide that tells everyone how to change the face with fixed sliders.

Short Guide for Custom Faces

1) Download the Facegen With numbers mod from http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/inde ... 327359&hl=

2) open the race_sec_menu.xml
In the file you should find 2 commants that look like
<mul> 2000 </mul>
 1000
just delete that 2 but keep i mind we add them later ^^.

3) in the <image name="race_template_slider_bar"> section
add the line <user7> <copy src="parent()" trait="user6"/> </user7> unter the <user6> line.

4) Start Oblivion -> Start new game
The Racemenue should be look funny...well now make screenshots or write down the number that are displayed right of the sliders, these numbers are the ids of the sliders we will need it later.

5) restore the original race_sex_menu.xml from the chargen with numbers mod.

6) Open the file
In the race_template_slider section ther should be an line like...
<user0> <copy src="child(race_template_slider_bar)" trait="user7"/> </user0> <!-- current value -->
Just replace that line with the following constuct:

Code: Select all

<user0>
        <copy src="child(race_template_slider_bar)" trait="user7"/>
        <add>
          <copy> -1.25 </copy> <!--ENTER HERE FaceGen Variables -->
          <add> 10 </add>
          <div> 20 </div>
          <sub src="child(race_template_slider_bar)" trait="user7"/>
          <onlyif>
            <copy src="child(race_template_slider_bar)" trait="user6"/>
            <eq> 259 </eq> <!--ENTER HERE ID of the Slider-->
          </onlyif>
        </add>
      </user0>	<!-- current value -->
7) just repeat the add block within the user0 block with every value and slider-ID you like.

8) Even if you can move the sliders that are set this way it does not seem to have any effect. However all sliders that are not set this way will have effects when changed.

Now have fun ^^.
